What do you think about GoldenEye 007: Reloaded?

edited August 2011 in 007 Gaming Posts: 23
First of all I have to say that I loved the movie and the original game, now I can start.

I don't like this game mainly for two reasons.

FIRST-It's a remake of a remake. GoldenEye 007 for Wii was supposed to be an exclusive, so what is this? A lot of people have bought the game for the Wii (and maybe the Wii itself too) because they knew that it would be avaible only on Wii, but Activision (to have more money) decides now to re-relase it for all the next generation consoles: it's a commercial crap!

SECOND-I know there are a lot of right problems, but seriously are they really thinking that the customer will believe to the re-immagination story? This IS NOT GoldenEye. C'mon there is no more Pierce, the story and the characters are all different and the gameplay is too much similar to the Call Of Duty serie. GoldenEye is GoldenEye. If you think it's too old to remake it, don't do that!

Personally I think GoldenEye: Source is better and less expensive than this ****.

That's my point. What's yours?

I've never played Goldeneye(original or Wii version) but I am slighty excited for this. I agree. Activision are a bunch of money hungry idiots trying to pull a monopoly by closing studios and projects it owns while racking in the cash. But if the Wii Goldeneye was good, why can't a fresher, more developed(upgrading to XBOX 360 and PS3,easier controls, polish) why can't the PS3 and XBOX 360(i only care about the PS3 version) be as good? Everything we've seen being done to the double remake seem to all be improvements, and the multiplayer should be cool. Then there are the COD comparisons. It is sad now that any 1st person shooter you see is seen as another COD, just like any game with an open sandbox, cars and guns became a GTA clone. Has it come to the point in gaming where we underestimate great titles because these games are trying to be original while using past mechanics only to be compared to the more popular/well known titles? Even poor Red Dead Redemption(GET IT!!!) has been deemed GTA in the Wild West, which is absolutely untrue. Other than the button presses being the same as GTA IV(why would you change the configuration?) there are no valid comparisons. RDR is its own great game, but because of Rockstar's other mark on gaming, the company's new games still get compared to its GTA franchise. I expect all that. Great games rarely get the recognition they deserve. Back on point. I am not with the group that hates Craig replacing Brosnan in the game. Craig is #2 Bond for me and his Bond work is quite incredible. Brosnan never did me any favors, and I'm pretty sure I could die if I have to sit through DAD again. If the game is good it shouldn't matter. I know Goldeneye was a landmark in gaming, but Craig is in it, not Brosnan, and there is nothing fans can do. It would be nice if as extra content or as an unlockable(DLC for stupid Activision) the player could play in the story mode as Brosnan. The only down side is that Craig's voice would be used, but I believe it was Nightfire that Brosnan didn't do the voice for either. All in all, I hope the new engine they've made for the game is great, and that we all get a good double remake. Who knows.

I think the game is appalling. Craig instead of Brosnan, wrong way of doing a remake... Horrible stuff. I would have settled for a simple remake that just had today's graphics. That would have been much better. But instead they've destroyed the legacy of the Bond franchise and of the original GE film and game

Besides, GEWii wasn't even advertized as a Bond game, but as the new 'Goldeneye 007' game that happened to be a Bond game.

Well at least @DC007 isn't being overly dramatic... :-"

You don't like Brosnan, @0Brady ? How would you feel is they hadn't made Everything Or Nothing in 2004, but a FRWL remake with him replacing Connery ?

I wouldn't have cared in the slightest @DC007. I love Connery in the films, who cares who portrays Bond in the games. I'd even prefer a Bond game more Fleming's style, using a Bond not based on previous actors. I think it would work much better than what we've had in the past.

I'm excited, i didn't play the Wii version but i always wanted to. And i'm a Craig fan. As far as the original game, it's a shame that Mircrosoft, Nintendo, and Activision couldn't make that XBLA port a couple years ago that leaked. But i'll take this!

If activision or whoever wants to remake a classic all they had to do is look at what silicon knights did with metal gear solid twin snakes. That game was exactly the same game as the original mgs for the ps1 except with beefed up ps2 calibre graphics and a few sensationalised cut scenes to reimagine a few of the cutscenes from the original. It was and has remained a nintendo cube exclusive.

If there are so many differentials for these goldeneye reboots, they might as well have just made it to be an original title. I may pick this up but this game just isn't on my agenda, mainly because as a consumer I don't like being treated as a punk especially when the product in question is dubious to begin with. Honestly, with the new batman arkham city coming out, battlefield 3 and modern warfare 3 all being released around the same time, am I going to rush out for golden eye reloaded?? I think not!

If you get both Goldeneye Reloaded and MW3 you will buy twice @doubleoego. ;-)

Well I don't agree with you @0BradyM0Bondfanatic7. Red Dead Redemption is not a clone of GTA, it's more an evolution of it.

By the way I wouldn't have any problems if the Call Of Duty gameplay was near to my James Bond videogame concept, but it isn't! I mean James Bond isn't a soldier, he is a spy and a clever one. The old Bond games (I'm talking about the EA ones for PS2, except for Rogue Agent that was aweful) were damn good, because they had everything that was in Bond style (in my opinion at least). There were Bond moments (I really loved them) and the gameplay was a mix of all the James Bond stuff.

Talking about Daniel Craig instead of Pierce Brosnan, there is only a problem and a big one. I know I can't do anything about it, but I want to tell it anyway (it's always a chitchat, isn't it?). For the people they have seen the movie (independently if they liked or not) it's almost impossible thinking to his story without thinking to the Pierce interpretation. For example, if you think to Casino Royale you'll think to the Craig personation at least a moment.

Personally I don't like Daniel Craig, but I don't have any problem seeing him in the Quantum of Solace videogame. But you must admit that is REALLY strange to see him in GoldenEye (in a story that doesn't fit to him IMHO).

It's not Craig himself the problem, it's the mix.

Every Bond must have his own story. A lot of people criticized the Agent under Fire James Bond, but in my opinion it wasn't so bad. It was a videogame with an original story with an original 007. And the voice was good, it was Bondian.

I don't really know what to think. For one, I don't know if it's coming out on PC. But more importantly, I'm not really a fan of shooters.

PC gaming aint what it used to be anyway. You're better off adhering to console gaming.

The video looks good, and while I am not a huge fan of FPS, It's Bond and I'm a sucker for it.

@Matteobin: I agree with you! It was supposed to be a Wii exclusive, and now after I got the Wii, they tell me that it's coming out on Xbox 360. Not only that, but they've added more to this re-make than the Wii version! Man, it bugs me.

Just the "MI6 Ops" mode is confirmed so far but no doubt other features will be included in the package as well.

The entire Goldeneye for the Wii concept was dumb in the first place. It's the same story with a 'new twist' in Craig's era. Why not just make an original game like NF or EoN? Because that would've forced them to make a legitimately good game to drive the sales and not just rely on the Goldeneye brand name.

Now a year later and they're doing the same thing over again, and they're just adding a few small improvements and porting it over to the 360/PS3 (something I'm sure Wii owners would have to be pissed about).

After GE:RA the only way I wanted GE in the name of a Bond game again was if it was a true remake/graphical enhancement of the N64 game (something which I understand they cannot do now due to the rights held by the multiple parties) or if they took it in a new direction and made a game based off of the original Brosnan movie in a 3rd person view.

I understand Blood Stone did very poorly sales wise, but I think that was more on Activision as the only game they pushed and marketed to the public was the Goldeneye game. I enjoyed Blood Stone far more, and if they'd work to improve on some aspects and vary the gameplay a bit more it would make for one of the best and most original games since EoN.

I agree @bondboy007 - GE:Wii and GE:Reloaded were just poor excuses of milking the GE brand cash-cow dry. I wish Activision had given more thought in an original game, instead of making easy money on the back of a popular name.

I consider that 2011 never had a James Bond game.

Correct - the GE:Wii and GE:Reloaded are merely new GE games, not new Bond games.

AUF's Bond was not someone original. Yes, he was voiced by Adam Blackwood, but the motion capture and likeness belonged to Andrew Bicknell.

So i just pre ordered Goldeneye today and it says it's coming out on November 1. This worries me because it is on the same day as Uncharted 3 and a week after Battlefield 3 and a week before Modern Warfare 3. I don't know what Activision is thinking...But i'm very excited nevertheless

Actually, the release date has been pushed back two months, making it January 1st instead.
