... and while I am being an annoying Connery supremacist, who btw was stellar in both YOLT and DAF, especially DAF, I thought maybe in the spirit of this game, we could also do a best Bond-writer game.
That Fleming guy may not have been as iconic as we thought. We can lump him in too with all the others who capitalized from his legacy.

While Brosnans movies come nowhere near the brilliant OHMSS I find Lazenby to be a dick for walking away, his 1st shows so much promise. The man still lives on the reputation of one Bondmovie showing how the character is bigger than the actor. And Lazenby a curiosity.
I think he quit because he felt the series wouldn't stay successful, and that he wasn't a fan of its genre (or something of that nature). I think he did a great job as Bond, and so did Brosnan. And I agree OHMSS is better than all the Brosnan films. I do truly like every Bond actor; hopefully the next actor will be good as well.

Just on a sidenote: Do we really know for certain that Lazenby willingly walked away? Its the official version now, yes, but only a handful of people know what really happened behind the scenes. Its apparent that the guy was difficult to work, that he occasionally did upset both his colleagues and Broccoly, and that he's reception with the masses was lukewarm at best. Its also pretty apparent that the producers did their best to wipe the slate clean and practically remove his legacy completely with the next release. It might be true that Laz didn't believe in the franchise, but I personally doubt its the only part of the story and the sole reason he left...
Anyway its a shame they didn't follow in the same path that OHMSS instigated. I find it to be a grave injustice that Peter Hunt didn't get another shot at directing. A great example of a decade where the producers, fans and the masses seemed to don't know what they really wanted... and even less what they "needed"...
