Yes, now I remember that, @Sandy! That would be fun. It doesn't have to be too Moorish in the extreme. I'd like something like that, too.

As for seeing a Union Jack, it could be and probably will be in several places, but I don't expect it on a 'chute. However ... we may get a great ski jump scene with a shoot opening up, Bond or other British agent, and we may be therefore expecting the Union Jack (especially if it is a very long jump off a slope) ... but not get it. Then there could be a comment on that a moment later. It could be well written and not cheesy and that in itself would be enough of a nod to the great scene in TSWLM.
As for Mendes, I still trust him to make a more than decent film with Bond 24. The overall quality and artistry put into Skyfall was immensely satisfying for me (not for all, but I believe for many Bond fans). We have more than one writer with Logan, and who knows what the combo will turn out? But I have to trust EON and Mendes to get this done with some semblance of balance.
I think truly the last thing Mendes wants is to blow this opportunity. Having accepted the daunting task of following up Skyfall, I feel that he wants to further Bond's story in a slightly different way. He does not strike me as an egotistical director or one who is about to jump off the rails. Surely he does not want to be talked about as the director of the most successful Bond film ever and then a stinker. I think he is a careful, meticulous director who takes his time. So, I am still very much positive.
In the novels we know Blofeld went to Sweden and in FRWL of course we know SPECTRE has some presence in Italy. But that's it.
I want to have a feel of the place, or places. Bond needs to spend proper time in the country he goes, or else it looks like we are going through postcards.
And Craig already went to Italy in two movies. With Bond 24, he'd go to Italy 3 times out of 4.
Check out DAF.
But wasn't that in Vegas?
True, hopefully they don't include a chase in a parking lot :)
That is the question, but it starts with a big if and is thus very speculative. Both are not mutually exclusive: in the novels Blofeld had networks before SPECTRE, prototypes of SPECTRE if you will, and it is debatable whether or not SPECTRE survived the events of TB. So in the movies, say Bond 24 for argument's sake, Quantum could be active, Bond could put an end to it, then one of its surviving leaders, or maybe the leader, would move out to create a new organisation. The way, in the novels, Blofeld accepted people from the disbanded SMERSH, Gestapo, etc.
The Bahamas have been used three times (disregarding underwater scenes in films such as FYEO that were shot in The Bahamas), and widely spaced apart at that.
How would we all like to handle them? I will be keeping them out of the title of the thread, to prevent it from spoiling anything for people reading the thread titles on the main pages.
What I will be leaving out from this thread altogether:
-Images that are not promotional and/or contain spoilers
-Videos that are not promotional and/or contain spoilers
-Descriptions that are not promotional
-Character deaths
-Plot spoilers / twists
What I will classify as Potential Spoilers from here on:
-Locations
-Vehicles
-Promotional photos
-Promotional trailers
-Photos of cast members on location / on set
-Stunt sequence details / scene details
With Skyfall, we had detailed images and leaks about M. dying, Bond going back to his childhood home, what it looked like, that it was the location of the finale, that it blew up, etc. Nothing like that will be featured on the timeline in this thread.
Seeing as this is the Production thread, it will focus on production details, as previously stated, things like locations, casting, non-spoiling set photos, promotional images, videos, and plot details, etc.
If any of you have any requests or any concerns, let me know.
ANY POSTS THAT INCLUDE SPOILERS OR LINKS TO SPOILERS WILL BE FLAGGED IF NOT PROPERLY USING THE SPOILER FEATURE. THEY MAY BE POSTED, BUT WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE TIMELINE AND SHOULD NOT INTERFERE WITH NORMAL DISCUSSION.
What? The Bahamas was an in-film location in Thunderball, Licence to Kill and Casino Royale.
I said I'm disregarding films where it was just used for filming, because it is only for underwater scenes.
The Bahamas aren't featured at all in Dr No and Live and Let Die, that's Jamaica.
There is a 24 year gap between TB and LTK, and a 17 year gap between LTK and CR.
So there is no comparison.
In a way yes. It is highly speculative anyway, and very much wishful thinking (and I am guilty as charged).
