I've always called them Bond girls haven't you? What are they supposed to be called?
The term Bond woman is so obnoxiously pedantic and it's political correctness that never had any mileage. Bond girl isn't meant to be offensive, I find it to be more a term of endearment in categorising female cast members in the series.

Halle Berry vs. Rosamund Pike
Eva Green vs. Caterina Murino
Olga Kurylenko vs. Gemma Arterton
Naomie Harris vs. Bérénice Marlohe
All I am saying is that in the recent Bond films the Bond girl with the bigger role was always played by the more accomplished actress. For example Olga Kurylenko is far from being A-list but in 2008 she was more well-known than Gemma Arterton.
Emily Blunt seems reasonable, fits the description perfectly. She also recently appeared in "Edge of Tomorrow" and definitely could come across as someone equal to Craig.

Will await to see if it is true like the rest of you? I also donot believe for one second that "Hinx" is the name for the henchman either. We all know how EON try to keep everything watertight on a new movie. If they were going to do this then release all the character names and be done with it!
Also....Hinx? Is that Jinx's long lost brother? :P

.....a fan of Sam Mendes filmography, I can't wait to analyze and dissect Mendes' two Bond films and compare them, theme-wise, habit-wise (Sam Mendes has a habit of...simply picking a thing or object, putting it in the movie....and then it becomes in a well-crafted way a reference to the theme or a character), with other multi-layaered movies like "American Beauty" and "Revolutionary Road".
I read that many fans hope that Bond 24 will be very different from Bond 23, "Skyfall". But in all honesty, I hope the tone, the grittiness from "Casino Royale" and "Skyfall" will stay intact 200%. Those two Bond films had this darkness of Bond films like "Dr. No" and "From Russia With Love".
Perhaps now Bond 24 will be more like our present-day "Thunderball"? Better locations, a classic car chase (please, don't re-invent a car chase anymore. Sam Mendes? Watch "Ronin") slightly more humour, but still a film in which Daniel Craig not forcefully becomes a '2nd Roger Moore'.
--> I hope Sam Mendes will keep the multi-layered approach...with some nice references to today's politics.
--> Action? Yes. But ONLY if it blends in with/supports the screenplay. The "call from fans to include more and better action" at times makes me a bit sceptical.
--> And if Léa Seydoux plays a former love interest of 007, then I am hungry for continuity...for some nice references to Vesper Lyndt. Perhaps, an emotional Bond in which he looks at some pictures from him with Vesper in Venice.
--> Following that remark, I loved the fully rounded, fully developed complexities of the characters from Craig's Bond film. If it is Vesper Lyndt, "M", Silva or even Hinx: Please don't make them pastiche! Make them real and complex where possible.
--> And let's hope the villain, the syndicate he's working for,...has his future laid out in Bond 25.
So far, with the latest additions to Sam Mendes' crew (Hoyte van Hoytema, Lee Smith) and cast (Lea Seydoux, Dave Bautista), I am already a happy little fanboy :-).
Like Seydoux, Byrne is an actress, that I immediately took notice of, upon first viewing.
If I see either of their names in a film, good chance I will check it out, even if its outside my usual thriller comfort genre.
And if Byrne was considered for Vesper, well here's a chance to put her to work on the new Bond.
So, what are we looking at? More humour than in Skyfall/CR - not good, throw away lines - not good, Moneypenny back in the field - not good and a henchman named Hinx - not good.
That's actually a little better.
One thing I'm looking forward to in regard to 007 24 is the supposed skiing chase.
Still not sure about the rumour of Moneypenny's back in the field story, nor am I enthusiastic about the new Q. But I'm willing to give it a chance.
Obviously Hinx is a working name and not the actual one. Otherwise it's a good bit of casting if true.
