    Nice top 5 on that overall list =)
  • The real mindblower is however GE. It is at least twelve spots too high.

    QOS is underrated too.

    Disagree and disagree.

    After a major rewatching there's been some movement, as predicted. I liked FRWL much more, and discovered I wasn't quite so enamoured with Thunderball or TWINE

    1. OHMSS
    2. Casino Royale
    3. Skyfall
    4. Moonraker
    5. The Spy Who Loved Me
    6. For Your Eyes Only
    7. A View To a Kill
    8. Licence to Kill
    9. Live and Let Die
    10. Octopussy
    11. The Man with the Golden Gun
    12. Dr No
    13. The Living Daylights
    14. The World Is Not Enough
    15. Thunderball
    16. Quantum of Solace
    17. From Russia With Love
    18. Goldfinger
    19. Diamonds are Forever
    20. Die Another Day
    21. GoldenEye
    22. Tomorrow Never Dies
    23. You Only Live Twice

    I haven't watched the films in awhile, so I'm pretty much going with first reaction here...

    1. Casino Royale
    2. From Russia With Love
    3. Goldfinger
    4. Skyfall
    5. Dr. No
    6. The Living Daylights
    7. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    8. GoldenEye
    9. Thunderball
    10. Licence to Kill
    11. Tomorrow Never Dies
    12. The Spy Who Loved Me
    13. For Your Eyes Only
    14. Octopussy
    15. Quantum of Solace
    16. Diamonds Are Forever
    17. Live and Let Die
    (Never Say Never Again)
    18. The World Is Not Enough
    19. You Only Live Twice
    20. A View to a Kill
    21. Moonraker
    22. Die Another Day
    23. The Man with the Golden Gun

    Some thoughts going through it again:
    - Skyfall's placement was difficult, I was playing with it all through the top 8.
    - Daylights and OHMSS I can never really decide on. I prefer Dalts to Laz, so that pretty much was the deal breaker for me.
    - Tomorrow Never Dies is the second Bond film I remember watching - my parents were searching for a computer many, many years ago, and TND just happened to be playing on one of them. My youngster self took immediate interest and nearly watched the whole thing. It has stuck with me ever since, though I'm well aware of its shortcomings.
    - Rankings 13 to 17 is very fuzzy. Could put those in nearly any order and I'd feel alright with it.
  • Aside from OHMSS (I'm one of the few non-fans of it) I can really dig that Top 10.
    Nice to see ya around again @SJK91

    My updated list as of February 4th 2015. I have slightly updated it compared to my list from August 24th. In part because @RC7 made me think a bit about "NSNA" and "TSWLM". But still, I think "NSNA" is underestimated because of its great acting (Sean Connery, Klaus Maria Brandauer and Barbara Carrera. The latter got nominated for a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Fatima Blush. And let's face it.....Famke Janssen's Xenia Onatopp is in part a rip-off of Fatima Blush:

    Top quality films!!!:
    01 --> 9.5/10 --> 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'
    02 --> 9.3/10 --> 'From Russia With Love'
    03 --> 9.0/10 --> 'Skyfall'
    04 --> 8.8/10 --> 'Casino Royale'
    05 --> 8.3/10 --> 'Thunderball'
    06 --> 8.0/10 --> 'For Your Eyes Only'

    Good films!:
    07 --> 7.6/10 --> 'Doctor No'
    08 --> 7.5/10 --> 'Octopussy'
    09 --> 7.4/10 --> 'The Living Daylights'
    10 --> 7.1/10 --> 'Licence To Kill'
    11 --> 7.0/10 --> 'Goldfinger'

    Average films:
    12 --> 6.7/10 --> 'The World Is Not Enough'
    13 --> 6.5/10 --> 'The Man With The Golden Gun' (+1)
    14 --> 6.3/10 --> 'Quantum Of Solace' (-1)
    15 --> 6.1/10 --> 'The Spy Who Loved Me' (+2)
    16 --> 6.0/10 --> 'Live And Let Die'
    17 --> 5.7/10 --> 'Never Say Never Again' (non-EON) (-2)

    Fun stuff for Bond nerds, but as a standalone film bad and sometimes even groce!:
    18 --> 5.4/10 --> 'Moonraker' (+1)
    19 --> 5.1/10 --> 'Diamonds Are Forever' (-1)
    20 --> 4.8/10 --> 'Tomorrow Never Dies'
    21 --> 4.5/10 --> 'You Only Live Twice'
    22 --> 4.2/10 --> 'GoldenEye'
    23 --> 3.4/10 --> 'A View To A Kill'
    24 --> 2.8/10 --> 'Die Another Day'
    25 --> 1.2/10 --> 'Casino Royale' (non-EON)

    If only I did have a chance to see Moonraker first on the big screen! My top Bond at the moment:

    1.) Moonraker
    2.) Casino Royale
    3.) The Spy Who Loved Me
    4.) From Russia With Love
    5.) The Living Daylights

    I figure that combination is pretty rare amongst Bond fans :)

    Doesn't discredit their opinions or anything. I'm happy to see some MOONRAKER love around these parts.
  • Hi everyone, here's my list:

    1 Casino Royale
    2 Skyfall
    3 Quantum of Solace
    4 The Living Daylights
    5 Goldeneye
    6 OHMSS
    7 From Russia With Love
    8 Live and Let Die
    9 Licence to Kill
    10 You Only Live Twice

    12 Goldfinger

    17 Octopussy
    18 The World is Not Enough
    19 A View to a Kill
    20 Moonraker
    21 The Man with the Golden Gun
    22 Diamonds are Forever
    23 Die Another Day

    Obviously, I enjoy the Craig/Dalton interpretations of Bond the most, maybe because I feel the character has more depth. However, I think they all have their place, depending upon what mood you're in, and I think Roger would be the most entertaining and generous Bond actor in person.

    Welcome to the boards! Interesting to see you place all 3 Craig films on top - especially Quantum at #3. We seem to enjoy a lot of the same - CR, SF (same Top 2), GE, OHMSS, LALD, LTK, etc. Can't complain at all about your bottom five!

    I didn't say it did. I'm making a point. If you lived through it, you probably don't have found memories of it.

    Except I did see it at the cinema in 1979. And loved it at the time.

    I watch a lot of YouTube vlog reviews and Moonraker has a lot of nostalgia support. Being the top grossing Bond film to that point with the Star Wars craze, most middle aged Bond fans have Moonraker as their first Bond. Most vlogs I watch state that MR was the first one they saw in theaters.

    If you had been following the films since Connery I doubt you left the theatre too happy.
    I wasn't too happy with it back then. I thought I had witnessed the death of Bond films altogether.

    Good God yes, I did see it in the cinema on release. My sister took me and I remember thinking exactly what you say 'Well I can only assume form here they will make them bigger, funnier, more ridiculous.' I was simply dreading Bond 12.
    We got back to her car and it had been broken in to. It topped off a miserable day.

    I don't mind MR now, as I see the bigger picture and how the series has developed and changed over the years, but at the time I was a very worried Bond fan.

    Sorry to hi jack this thread - I have never ever put the films in any sort of order - I find it simply impossible. Hats off to you lot for doing so. ;-)

    You must have found it ironic then that the next film also featured a car being broken into ;)

  • @mirandafrost - Interesting list. Always nice to see another Brosnan supporter. I'm not the era's biggest fan, but with all the hate he gets I'm one of the resident defenders it seems.

    @mirandafrost, congratulations on finishing your Bondathon.

    I'm very respectful of almost any and all opinions, but I'm afraid I am taken aback by your including TWINE in the top 10 (and almost top 5!). That tragic-comic debacle shall surely be at the very bottom (stomped) of my list when I do my next Bondathon.

    OHMSS is not for everybody so I can understand. DAD is a guilty pleasure for even fewer :)

    Yeah see some of the parts you love I don't much like (Elektra, Brosnan's performance). Elektra isn't bad but I think this is far and away Brosnan's worst turn. No fault of his own, he always gave the role 100%, but I think he was directed poorly.

    I don't even hate Richards. I just hate the writing in the film as well as the morbid, drab, lifeless, and melodramatic direction.

    @chrisisall as a fellow Brosnan supporter I feel your pain. You're just doing your job. This is the one film I can't go on record defending, unfortunately. I'm sure I'll pop up elsewhere to defend TND and DAD though :P
