Sources of inspiration? Well, EoN need to do a better job because our people on this site create infinitely better posters than the garbage EoN end up going with and putting out. The last good poster we had was the Casino Royale teaser.

Well, in my humble opinion I think the fan poster from that news item is pretty much inferior to most of the official teaser posters. In fact, it blatantly uses images of Christoph Waltz with a beard from "Django Unchained"....

Seeing as we don't have clear shots of Waltz in SPECTRE, the best fans can work with are previous images from publicity and films - I wouldn't say that takes away from the final result - I believe that poster was made when we didn't even know if Waltz would be bearded or clean shaven in the film.

Precisely. It's the fundimental degree of creativity of our people that puts EON to shame. The imagination and resourcefulness is beyond exceptional considering with what little is being worked with and tgen EON come out and give us something overwhelmingly generic and uninspiring.

I always view fan posters, as the fan's interpretation of the film and the elements
In it, not what is in the actual film. ;)

According to this article Craig and Waltz will be shooting in Morocco late June.

(translated from french): "In total, the staff of the new James Bond opus will work a week in Morocco for (exterior) sequences of the film of hardly ten minutes."

I agree 100%; the state of creativity when it comes to movie posters in general is at an all time low.

Yeah, but Eon has access to the actors for publicity shots and fan poster makers don't, so I don't think it's fair to hold that against the fan posters.

I don't want to. I have stated several times that I like the teaser posters for SPECTRE so far. I'm completely satisfied.

Yes you have, but putting down and outright insulting Fan artists by calling their hard work and efforts "Inferior" is just rude. So if you think they are so Inferior then make your Ideal Perfect SPECTRE poster you hold in such high regard. 8-|

Most of the fan posters are quite awful honestly. Only Marketto has made something EON worthy (though others came very close).

I like the simplistic poster. But I agree that it should have been more Casino Royale esque rather than just a model shot of Craig.

At least it's better than a picture of the ground with a shadow on it, like the QOS teaser!

I actually quite liked it. It gave a good hint as to where the film would happen/ what the storyline was. A teaser in the literal sense of the word.

Yeah, that pic of Craig, LALDsque is average but I loved what they did with Casino Royale - the first and the second. I would love it if the second is more in the vein of Bond walking down the steps of the casino. It looked liked some of this stylish photography you see in exhibitions.

I think you are exaggerating. I only said I didn't like those cheap copy-paste attempts. Even a fan, for example the great @Marketto, can be way more creative than that.

I actually find it rather insulting that you generalize so heavily. You talk about "they", "insulting" and "the fans", whereas I merely disliked that attempt from that news item. On top of that.....is it forbidden here to not like someone's fan poster??

    Now back on topic.

Very prescient given the film is far from complete.

I wouldn't say THAT far (or at least filming).

Plus, given that people have read the script, they have a much better judgement of whether the film is good or not.

Filming perhaps. The edit counts for a lot, let alone the inevitable improvisation during the filming process. Judging what the film 'will be' at this point is certainly a mug's game.

Not really. Script to screen is an arduous undertaking. A seemingly bad script can be transformed into something beautiful and a seemingly brilliant one can be made to look ordinary. It's not science, it's art. There are so many factors built into film making that forum-dwelling onlookers cannot make such assumptions unless they are actually Mendes.

No, it's not. Multiple media people and journalists have been to the see the film. The result is unnanamous praise, surely centring around mendes superior ability with actors. At this point the obligation is on those who doubt to present a case for why SPECTRE ISN'T the best non Young directed Bond film.

    1. never
    2. yes

A bad script can never be transformed into something beautiful.

A good script can be turned into a good film.
A good script can also be turned into a bad film.

A movie can never get better than the script, just as good or even worse.
That's why filmmaking is so hard. And that's why there are so few really good movies.

I said a 'seemingly bad' script. A lot of key creatives involved in Star Wars thought the script was woeful. Yet Lucas created something indelible from it because there was a vision there. All I'm saying is, with all due respect, fans reading a leaked script and declaring it brilliant means sweet fuck all.

And a movie can and invariably is, by it's very nature, better than a script.
