I will do another community ranking summary after spectre comes out. Here it the summary I did in November:
    http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/78/bond-movie-ranking-simple-list-no-details/p38

As for my list, QOS is now firmly at the bottom. GE is slipping down to between 4th and 6th.

I haven't properly done a marathon in a while, but these are the constants...
Top 6 in no order is: FRWL, OHMSS, CR, GE, OP, TLD (one from each actor)
    Bottom 2: YOLT (22nd), QOS (23rd).

My thoughts on MR have improve and may make it to the middle of the list

I think there is a typo with CR being so low? Is that the 67 version?

Wait, there's a film version of CR other than the 1967 one?
  • Re-upping my rankings before the Bondathon forces an update, now with more numbers!

    1. Goldfinger
    2. From Russia With Love
    3. Casino Royale
    4. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    5. GoldenEye
    6. Skyfall
    7. Dr. No
    8. The Spy Who Loved Me
    9. Licence to Kill
    10. For Your Eyes Only
    11. You Only Live Twice
    12. The Living Daylights
    13. Tomorrow Never Dies
    14. Thunderball
    15. Quantum of Solace
    16. Octopussy
    17. The World is Not Enough
    18. Live and Let Die
    19. Diamonds are Forever
    20. Moonraker
    21. Die Another Day
    22. A View to a Kill
    23. The Man with the Golden Gun

Tiers: 1-8 (top), 9-13 (upper middle), 14-18 (lower middle), 19-23 (line of shame)

Average ranking per actor: Connery: 9, Lazenby: 4, Moore: 16.71, Dalton: 10.5, Brosnan: 14, Craig: 8

    Up/down movement between movies: +5, +1, -13, +3, +7, -15, +1, -5, +15, -12, +10, -6, -6, +10, +3, +4, -8, -4, -4, +18, -12, +9

The biggest drop between movements is the legendary drop between OHMSS and DAF, but the second largest is between GF and TB. I imagine the latter wasn't felt so keenly because TB is above the line of shame, while DAF is below it (indeed, DAF starts the movies below the line of shame). The late seventies and the present day are the most volatile stretches, and the longest streak in either direction is three movies (TLD->LTK-GE and TND->TWINE->DAD).

    My top 5
    Diamonds are forever
    Moonraker
    You only live twice
    Skyfall
    SPECTRE

I have not yet seen number 5 but I can tell from footage that we will again have the epic bond, good score, lush feel, probably will be funny too.

    @Mendes4Lyfe

Moonraker has never really did it for me as indicated in my first rankings. I don't have a line of shame in my rankings since I'd prefer to watch a Bond film over many other options. Moonraker has a lot of things going for it like its cinematic beauty, soundtrack, and the first half is intriguing, but the faults are hard for me to overlook.

Not to mention the Daltonites here made me see the error of my ways in putting Licence To Kill last. :))

I measured my standard deviation from the latest average rankings. Here is how my rankings compare with the community:

    -1.46 Tomorrow Never Dies
-1.25 The World Is Not Enough
    -1.09 Skyfall
    -1.09 Diamonds Are Forever

    -0.83 Quantum Of Solace
    -0.63 Goldeneye
    -0.63 Octopussy
    -0.42 Casino Royale
    -0.42 Die Another Day
    ±0.00 Goldfinger
    ±0.00 For Your Eyes Only
±0.00 The Man With The Golden Gun
    ±0.00 A View To A Kill
    +0.21 Dr. No
    +0.21 The Living Daylights
    +0.42 From Russia With Love
+0.42 The Spy Who Loved Me
    +0.42 You Only Live Twice
    +0.42 Moonraker
    +1.09 Live And Let Die
    +1.25 Thunderball
+1.46 On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    +1.88 Licence To Kill

Note: -SD means I have those films ranked higher (lower number) and +SD means I have those films ranked lower (higher number).

I bolded the titles that are greater than one standard deviation from the average because that displays a distinctly different ranking. The cool thing this shows are my unique preferences compared to the communities. All 23 rankings fall within the 95% spread of two standard deviations, so there is nothing significantly different than the consensus.

Time for an updated summary of the 153 members on the forum who have ranked the films since Skyfall:

    The only films without a top ranking are;
    - TMWTGG (DaltonCraig007)
    - AVTAK
*2nd-MayDayDiVicenzo who placed it 5th recently but not counted because he hasn't updated his full list
    *next rank 5th-2 people)
    - DAD (5th-Taffin, next rank 8th-2 people)

All films have been ranked 22nd or 23rd by at least 1 person except for:
    - FRWL (21st-BondVillain, the next lowest rank is 17th-3 people)
    - TSWLM (20th-3 people)

Excluding the above, the following have no 23rd ranking: DN, GF, OP, TLD, GE, CR)

In dead last, an overwhelming 62 listed DAD. Next up is AVTAK (19), QOS (17), TMWTGG/MR (11), DAF (10), TB (4). All other films are 3 or less.

    In first, FRWL (36), CR (28), OHMSS (20), GF (14), SF (11)

    Thanks!

I currently have TLD at number 1. There are currently 5 members (including you, excluding me) that have it at 1. And of the 5, 3 have LTK in second, the other two in 3rd and 4th. Once a Daltonite, always a Daltonite. For me LTK is in the middle...that damn score.

However, I feel in my list OHMSS may take the lead. Dalton just looks so uncomfortable in parts. I like his serious interpretation but some lines were definitely meant for Moore, although I don't feel the film suffers much from it because it's so damn enjoyable. I love OHMSS for the same reasons, the video/sound editing is odd in sections but the rest makes up for it
