Yep and we get a photo of Bond with his arms crossed to promote the thing. Money well spent. Talk about pushing the boat out.
A movie poster is promotion and marketing. This poster sticks out. If you go to a cinema complex where posters are shown SPECTRE will stick out and catch everyone's attention.
I'd say that's a job well done from EON.
Furthermore it's a matter of taste. I like it, I didn't like the Skyfall poster which was unremarkable and boring like hell.
I don't always agree with your take on stuff @BondJasonBond006, but you are dead right on this. The poster is advertising, period. It has one second to catch non fans attention when they walk past it. No one on this site will even be mentioning the darn thing again when the film opens.
I don't mind it but it's nothing remarkable but as much as the SF campaign was derided here it contributed to it's massive haul. I know the likes of RC7 will say he doesn't give a damn about BO but EON do and designing something for a select group rather than something that catches peoples eye at the cinema foyer is pretty pointless in their view.
Yes we are a fan base and a passionate one but we think Bond is our own little sand pit to play in and it's not, I've said it before but I put more trust in a 50 year plus old institution like EON than the Frankenstein fan wankery we'd get if some of you were making these films.
No disrespect to talented fan poster designers on here, yes most of them are much better from an artistic point of view but it's only Bond fans that would appreciate these.
As dull to some that SP poster is, it will do it's job and that's all EON is concerned about and who could blame them?
Why do you think it has no relevance? It seems to me that people here are not seeing the wood for the trees, as they say. It may have EVERYTHING to do with the story. Does no-one remember Abbey Road?
Of course it has to do with the story:
it's a symbol for the ghost, the spectre, that is hunting Bond.
We know, that the man in the skull costume is Bond himself, we could even say, that the new poster says: Bond is hunted by his own spectre.
But yes, the costume itself is only seen in the first 2 minutes of the movie. That's it.
But as a symbol it works for the whole movie.
The things is MS is looking at this as a Bond fan, the general couldn't care what you put behind Craig, maybe EON don't want to elude to the story in a blatant way.
We just forget that this is not ours it's for millions, some people are so wrapped up in their own self importance and opinion they forget the bigger picture.
No it's not artistic and no not much work has gone into it but hey it's going to do it's job. So why try and evoke the lost art of poster design for a small majority of people who are likely to see it even if you stuck Bond sat on the toilet on the poster.
Again, yet another post suggesting that you can't have a great work of art that simultaneously works as a marketing campaign. People who dislike this poster just want something 'better'. The most depressing aspect of modern cinema is that Hollywood have brainwashed even the most hardcore fans into worshipping $$$. Fuck 'the job it's doing' it's crap. Period.
From the leaked e-mails I saw (and I believe I read through them all) Sony only considered Craig to be too expensive when it came to his fee for advertising a mobile phone. There was never any mention of him being too expensive to appear in the movie.
Also, the phone stuff was the opinion of Sony Electronics, not Sony Pictures.
How does this scene play out??
What exactly is the atmosphere switch and how does spooky fit????
During the car chase in Rome, the DB10 has switches for atmosphere (customised music etc), ejector seat, machine gun and flamethrower. Since the car isn't actually his, it's 009's, when Bond tries to figure out what each switch does, he flicks the atmosphere switch and Spooky starts to play.
I agree with you. It works as a happy ending or as a cliffhunger.
What do you all think?
A bit about the terrorist attacks in cities around the world, to give the threat in this film some scope.
I agree - that's essentially sort of the set up to the film, that and the surveillance aspect would be awesome. Would love to see one or two shots of the Nine Eyes meeting, and the reveal of the CNS (the concept art is "out there" - think I posted it on the Production Timeline somewhere under spoiler tags and it looks AWESOME).
I think after the really atmospheric teaser I see why they decided to go full on "glorious Bond" for the theatrical trailer, I'd really love it if tone wise the final trailer came back to the atmospheric/mysterious style of the teaser, so I'm not sure on the lighter side of Bond as we already essentially got that with the theatrical trailer...
Also I'll be very surprised if a shot of the Rolls approaching Madeleine and Bond in the desert isn't included - bound to be stunning.
HOLY MOTHER OF :))
I find that hilarious - nice work!
The S6 just dropped two months ago.. why would they have the s7 in a film nearly a year from it releasing
Very interesting and it seems significant. The email leaks were full of back and forth over Samsung's much richer offer to EON. Craig and Mendes were negative about the quality of the Sony phone, and Sond execs also looked like they were trying to screw Craig out of his endorsement fee. Looks like EON screwed Sony back. Seems kind of significant re EON's attitude toward any need to cooperate with the Sony suits. Would guess there is lots going with
this deal or maybe it was just all about the money.

Apple just dropped an new Iphone 6s Samsung was always going to get its next phone ready to compete. You asked so cynically why..that's why they would get the S7 ready.
At least Samsung will sell something again in Europe that way :)) They are way behind Apple, without the Asian market Samsung could scrub their phone department.
