I'm open to a period piece but not a remake. If it's a period piece, give it to Nolan and Bale to hit gold again.

I once got chastised for criticizing the degree of hyperbole on these boards, as well as in modern lingo (genius, brilliant, epic, etc.). To me, brilliant or genius anything only comes along rarely.

Completely agree with you. Like you say, words like legendary and genius are tossed around at the drop of a hat and genius is a rare thing.

Well for the moment we have inferior scripts that are an insult to Fleming, haven't we ? Did you feel NSNA was an insult to TB ? "Remakes" allow much room for creativity, actually...

I seldom use words like legendary or genius or perfect.

With the poster I felt it is a stroke of genius compared with the dull, boring, awful stuff we got dished for Skyfall.
But I'll make better use of those terms in the future. Noted.

They've sort of been remaking the films on and off (or at least bits of them) for many years now, including the last one, which was a semi-remake of TWINE/TMWTGG.

These fan arts in response to the poster are really starting to embarrass the original!

And no period pieces either. What is it with people living in the past? EoN should do what they've been doing, Bond being contemporary and pushing forward as the character was originally intended (sticking to Fleming is an attribute so many Bond fans keep harping on about).

I think there is room for multiple incarnations of Bond; the various Sherlock Holmes productions prove this can be done successfully. ( Yes, I know successfully is subjective) Whether it be a continuation of the Craig timeline or a re-boot to a new one, I want to see the series stay modern and relevant. But, I would be more than open to a "Classic Bond" production, that would show the character where he was spawned, in the 50's and 60's. This would best be presented as a television project on one of the major cable networks.

    Yes.

EON should this, EON should that. People tend to forget that a LOT of cinema-go-ers upcoming November aren't even Bond fans. They probably can't watch the 1960's films, because they are 'too slow'. And they probably think: "WOW!! What kind of suit is THAT. I never saw that before! Me like!"

Agreed. Or a special three part film arc in the original timeline. My preference in this case would be for Nolan to do it.

I don't have a problem with re adapting poorly done Fleming Material. Like for example, if EON made Moonraker based exactly on the novel I'm fine with that, but it just can't be called Moonraker since it's been used. And yes I do think NSNA was an insult to Thunderball and EON. It's a terrible film and a very very poor remake of Thunderball. Shouldn't have even been made.

NSNA is indeed an abomination but then again I never understand why Thunderball gets such a bad rap.

I don't either. It's my favorite Connery Bond movie. :-bd

I thought this was the best Skyfall promotional image of them all.

I like this version more. Craig's got a good cheeky smile and Lea looks very seductive. One thing I really wished it would have is a silhouette of Oberhauser in the background, but it is what it is.

@Mansfield, an Oberhauser silhouette could still be possible, as it looks like they may continue to add characters to this poster, not just Madeleine Swann.

I think that might be it. They seem sort of balanced in the middle of the photo (including the Spectre in the background). The silhouette likely represents the villainy in the film.

I hope you are right, especially because the balance of the total image seems off now with two characters in the foreground (and I don't think she has any connection with his actions in Mexico).

One thing I love about the pose for Lea is how similar it is to Sophie Marceau's appearance in the poster for The World Is Not Enough. It brings questions to her role and allegiance in Spectre. Daniela Bianchi and Sophie are two of my favorite Bond girls, perhaps even my top two, so the fact that Lea is channeling both of them in some way is so appealing.

The Spectre of death looms behind Bond...

Everyone is keen to point out the Samedi resemblance, but without acknowledging that it's in honour of Dia de Los Muertos.

Personally I think MWTGG truly NEEDS to be remade. Though Chris lee is always great a Jack Palance type actor (Bardem) in the role of Scaramanga just seems like a better fit. I notice nobody is commenting on the 40's feel of the wardrobe in the poster. These fashion hark back more to Casablanca than Goldfinger. Especially the WIDE lapels.

    It's not Samedi.

Like I said before, the "SPECTRE" is lurking from behind both Bond and Swann's back. I think "SPECTRE" could become the most mysterious and detective-esque Bond film of the Craig-era.

The last good set of Bond movie posters were for Casino Royale. They even had a montage version for CR too.

Well, at least for this one there is an image in the background but still, disappointing. They also have the same or at least an incredibly similar font for every Craig Bond film. I miss the varied more unique font styles they used to use for each new film.
