Conti's FYEO score has always been one of my favorites... it's always been deemed either "too disco" or "too dated".. but i think that is part of it's charm - it's a score perfectly fit in it's time and place (much like Hamlisch's score for TSWLM), and it's one of the many high marks i give FYEO as a Bond film....
this track has always been a personal favorite from the soundtrack
Fully agree @Haserot. I think one should have a bit of an ability to place himself in that different time. I always wonder what it would have been to live in the late 70's, early 80's (old school) disco era. If you can do that....you'll love the "FYEO" score.
I'm equally happy to see "Moonraker" and "Tomorrow Never Dies" doing so incredibly well. I always thought "TND" was Arnold's first and best score.
FYEO was the score I struggled with most on my ranking - part of me likes it for it's energy, it's such an enthusiastic score with some great highlights - but I do find it jarring to see a 53 year old Roger Moore doing stunts to what is basically disco music...
And yes, Moonraker is a VASTLY underrated score, top 3 for me every time. It's Barry's most orchestral Bond score and it contains some of his best work i.m.o.

The scores is wonderfully orchestrated, with Barry-esque strings, but maintaining its own original, soulful 'blackxploitation" feel to it. Great bass guitar riffs too. You can hear at times that there's a disco craze in the making....

I'm completely in agreement with this. Truly a work of genius in the scoring dept. The only non-Barry score that I can listen to pleasurably from start to finish as a standalone cd in the car. Timeless despite the cues of its period littered throughout the score, and that is a testament to Martin.
This is the way one should incorporate a disco flavour into the Bond sound (if one must) imho.....namely, sparingly. Hamlisch did it slightly more obviously, but a bit worse in 1977, and Conti massacred it in 1981, imho, putting a huge datestamp on his score, and consequently, the film.
Yes, Runaway is one of my favourites too, along with A Drive Through the Country.

It's so great you have Burt Bacharach's/Herb Alpert's score for the 1967 spoof "CR" so high. Although not a terrific 'Bond score' it still is a marvelous score for a comedy film!
By the way, yesterday I downloaded the entire expanded soundtrack from "Skyfall". I really recommend it. Better mixes. The entire full work that has been recorded. Uncut. Some tracks that didn't make the films. Other tracks that did make the film, but not the soundtrack. I really recommend listening it, to prepare for "SPECTRE":

It's a real old-fashioned software program, but absolutely devoid of ads and viruses. And you get your own physical mp3's instead of that stupid Spotify with all those build-in ads and commercials.
I'm very anti-Apple and I'm still using the good old fashioned Windows Media Player with Dolby Atmos Surround. It's connected to my Harman Kardon home cinema set.
Around 4 people on there are offering the full expanded "Skyfall" score. It's truly wonderful. Proper 'gunbarrel exit tune', instrumental and movie versions of Adele's "Skyfall"....and simply better mixed. It's by sure official.
