My theory is that with the right movie, as Casino Royale was, "any" actor can make it to stardom.
I think OHMSS with George Lazenby is proof of that. The movie is that good that even an Australian dress man with no acting experience at all couldn't harm it.
Of course Craig was infinitely better in CR. But I don't get why CR shouldn't have worked with any other of EON's possible choices at the time.
So when the day arrives and EON reveals the new James Bond I will be excited no matter who it is.
Rick Astley would be great though ;)
Fixed. ;)
Wow.
Are we not taking anything serious anymore what he says from now on?
The Title of this Thread suggest that this is discussion is about 'stuff that daniel craig is saying' and the implications of that...
I am not for or against Craig (rather for, if i had to choose)
I am only FOR the franchise, if anything.
And if he doesn't want the job anymore, thats fine, there are dozens of young, hungry guys, waiting to get a shot at it.
I fully agree!
The breaks between Craigs Movies were unbearable. If he had a normal pace, he would have had easily 5 movies by now.
Fully agree as well.
If Craig holds out for Mendes again like they did for SP and it gets delayed, I say dump them both and let's start afresh. I'm only going to be around for so long (even if I don't 'slit my wrists') and so I'd like to see as many new Bond films as I can.
This would certainly give the hardcore fans lots of things to debate and discuss over the next four to six years, that's for sure.
Sure would maybe we can get an animated spinoff show in the meantime Felix Leiter of the CIA starring Jeffery Wright. ;)
I'm sure if they go to a new actor they will crank them out sooner to establish the new guy (they always seem to do that with the first few....1 yr gap for SC/RM, & 2 yr gap for all the others).
Having said that, I'm open to DC staying on as long as he can find somewhere to go with 'his Bond' which works for him and doesn't wait too long to do it.
Well... as long as the movies are better than the Marvel stuff...
@bondjames, same, I love QoS and will always call it one of my favorites. Off the top of my head, it's top five, easily, and if not there, it's at least in sixth or seventh place (don't recall my last Bondathon ranking).
The big issue with what many perceive to be the 'failure' of QoS was indeed the writer's strike, and I'd stretch and say Forster's editing style (which is most certainly frenetic and choppy when it comes to action scenes, which is also showcased in 'World War Z.') However, I don't mind that Bourne style to it, makes it all that much more gritty to me.)
That's not going to happen.
EoN aren't Marvel Studios/Disney. The latter have multiple properties and with it comes respective talent and teams, which for the most part have a common underlying thread. EoN on the other hand only have Bond and don't have the financial resources of Disney not to mention coming up with engaging Bond stories is a much more difficult task, whereas Marvel/Disney have 50 years of comic book archives to draw inspiration from.
Furthermore someone should overlook the expenses. A production company can get into deep trouble if a movie that has cost a lot doesn't make profit.
Also to control the process of writing the script would help a lot. Having changes in the script during shooting the movie is just not good.
Actually in my opinion the script for Bond 25 should already be in the works, at least the first phase, that would be ideal.
Since 2006 things have quite gotten out of hand in my opinion.
I'm not talking quality of the movies (except scripts) or success.
I think after the success of SF, EON were willing to wait the extra year for Mendes. They could have went with someone else but the movies probably wouldnt have been as good as what were about to get.
As for all the legal battles & delays, If B25 gets delayed for 4 years Craig is not going to return, & then there will be the even bigger delay of replacing him. Whatever comes next will be interesting.

"Money! No, I love playing him. It’s an honour to play him, I get such a big kick out of doing it. ... He’s old now, 47... But as long as he’s physically able. Which isn’t that long! I’m contracted for one more film which seems to be a fair number, but I’m not going to make predictions."
