Hi guys, i am another Chinese fan you are looking for. I have been in the forum for over 10 years. Looking around, finding interesting topics, but never really involve in the conversation. But once I saw this topic, I feel myself have to be in and start talking!

I was born in Shanghai China and now 28 years old. My first Bond film is TND in VCD format my father rent from the local store in 1998. It opened a wide door for me. Next one I watched was TB. The two different Bonds in their times are so cool that I became a fan immediately. Since then I have searched every corner of Shanghai to gather my own VCD collection, then evolved to DVD collection.

The first time 007 officially introduced to China is Casino Royale. I always remember the time I attended the premiere in Shanghai and met the cast on stage. Even if Daniel Craig was so far away and did not say a single word, I was a crazy boy down there in the seat. The time I saw the CR gun barrel on the silver screen it was like a dream come true.

OK my friends, feel free to ask me anything about China and 007 in China, I will try to explain everything I could. The pleasure will be all mine.

Welcome Jamesshingo. You live in Shanghai then? I am currently living in this city in the Jing'an district.

    Ling Ling Qi forever !

Thank you! I lived in Hongkou district of Shanghai for 26 years, and guess what, 007 changed my life. I decided to go abroad and experience exciting new life. So I quit my job 2 years ago and went to New Zealand. Now I lived in New Zealand and enjoyed free lifestyle here. But Shanghai is always my home. BTW, Jing'an is a good place and I always loved the supermarket under Jiu Guang Shopping Mall. :)

    James Bond forever!

Oh, New Zealand? Beautiful country. But then it is where I'm from. :) My hometown is Auckland. Many Chinese live there. Where in New Zealand do you live?

Have to say, I don't really go to supermarkets in Jing'an as I think they're overpriced. :) Nor do I like cooking much. Love going to the bars in Jing'an though. :)

@Jamesshingo Thank you for the translation. I am Chinese but not very good at speaking or reading it...my mum is from 宁波

I think I've found the chinese translation of Skyfall (大破天幕杀机)? What does it translate to?

And I've realised that China, Taiwan and Hong Kong have different titles.

Wow!! You both are from China @w2bond and @Jamesshingo? Welcome here :-D! I think Chinese men are very sexy hehe. I hope you liked "SPECTRE", "Skyfall", "Quantum Of Solace" and "Casino Royale", which should be seen as an entire quadrilogy.

One question I have though. Are TV channels in China also regularly broadcasting older Bond films? Or is it possible to obtain the entire James Bond collection on BluRay in China? I am very curious.

As you know there are 24 official Bond films now, PLUS 2 other unofficial films featuring the character of James Bond. I am also curious if there are James Bond fanclubs in China. Would be great to get in touch with them.

you can watch most of the old Bond movies for free on youku.com. I think you need a Chinese IP address though.

You are quite right on the different titles. I really don't like the title translation in China mainland from Casino Royale to Skyfall. They all followed a strange form (which I believe was influenced by Hong Kong titles) reads "007 fights against something".

Casino Royale was "007 fights in Casino Royale" - OK, there were at least casion royale in it.
Quantum of Solace was "007 defuses the Quantum Crisis" - Really?? Most of non-007 fans think it could be another 007 save the world from nuclear crisis. They entered cinema with huge expectation but went out with huge disappointment. Quantum Crisis is just water crisis....
Skyfall as you mentioned 大破天幕杀机 was "007 foils the killing intention from sky" - They had not learnt any lesson from QOS...

So that is why I think Spectre finally earned a decent name in China, "Spectre Organization". Simple and straight...

Thank you for your kind comments on Chinese men :) I very much enjoyed the DC quadrilogy and my personal favourite is still Casino Royale.

TV channels? No regular Bond films. I believe they will show some of them in a certain time like some English film appreciation week. But that means just 1-2 will be selected to show. My memory told me usually Roger Moore's will be picked by them. BluRay collection? Yes, you can always get James Bond collection on BluRay in official or non-official stores in China, but not every store.

I have been looking for a real James Bond fanclub in China for years. I know there are a bunch of people who love James Bond, but apparently there is no such professional informative forum like MI6 here. Here are some sites contains our fans in China.

Baidu Posts Bar (forum or should I say)...this is one section in the big Baidu Posts Bar specially for 007.
    http://tieba.baidu.com/f?ie=utf-8&kw=007&fr=search
I believe in this Posts Bar hiding most of 007 fans in China and some interesting feedback on Spectre.

Weibo (Chinese version of FB and Twitter)...
    http://www.weibo.com/007chinablog
As the name suggest, it is the official China Blog page. But you can tell the subscribers number 170,000 means somthing.
    http://www.weibo.com/520196832
Same on Weibo, this is a fans page for Daniel Craig. They kept posting news on the film and doing subtitles by themselves. Initially from love of DC, but finally they also created a 007 fans page below
    http://www.weibo.com/u/5420489650
Up till now, the subscribers number is not very high.

Despite of the fact above, I still feel the same way as Mr. White do, We have people everywhere!

Thanks for that, it's quite difficult to translate these titles. Even english speaking people were confused by "Quantum of Solace"
