Beside, she is the only M that received a proper send off: a plot centered around her. Bringing in her back in a flashback would be a mistake (beside doesn't she have memory problems now).

I can only see her coming back as a portrait in MI6.

Don't know why, but that did make me smile

As before, she had a long run in the Bond franchise, I would of liked to have seen her maybe do one more release, but they decided it was time to call a halt. It wasn't so much of a shock when she died in Skyfall, as it was given away before I saw it, but nonetheless, it was a little sad to see her go after so many years of service. She wasn't as good an M as Bernard Lee (nobody could be), but a vast improvement on the lacklustre Robert Brown, and it'll be strange without her presence in subsequent Bond releases, but there always will be changes, in any walks of life

    James Bond is no different

I think it was time she left because she was starting to have problem memorizing the lines. And it was nice that they gave her a proper send off, with a story centered around her.

Well she kind of did come back on that video message in Spectre, didn't she? I must admit I was a little surprised by that; no doubt that was the intention of the writers.

Was there any evidence of that? I mean, we saw Desmond struggle with this, but not Judi.

Yeah, sure...that's why she's performing life on stage right now until November 2016, because she can't memorize her lines

She has problems with her eyes, not her memory. ;)

My mistake then. Still at her age she couldn't stay in the role for much longer.

Although I disliked her character's increased role over time, I think she was missed in SP. I regret advocating for her dismissal in the past. The film missed her, and the 3 replacements didn't cut it.

Gosh! She was certainly excellent and Fiennes/Craig definitely don't have the same chemistry but I certainly hope they don't bring her back again. It would be a sort of admission of defeat.
  • They will bring her back again and again and again and....

She'll be like a combination of Mrs. Bell and the wine-drinking guy. We'll never be done with her. And rightly so!

It's probably too late now, but I would have enjoyed a (possibly black-and-white) flashback of the young Commander Bond being recruited into the Secret Service by a digitally-youthified Judi Dench.
  • I found Dench's cameo to be a highlight in SP. A real surprise since I try to remain as spoiler free before seeing them in theatre.

All the old M's will appear at the end of Bond 25. Glowing in ceremonial robes as they watch over their young Jedi, sorry Agent.
