This is more of an MI6 question than Bond one: have we had a "rank the Blofelds" thread?

I would like to rank the Blofelds togethre but I can't find the right post and don't want to bother. I have a question for you Bond avocados like myself and I may already know the answer and maybe I'm just testing you but here it is: Did you know in the original draft of Casino Royale, M scolds Bond for running around telling everyone his name?

The new (or whatever) US Blu-Ray for CR also contains cuts in the torture scene. All in all the film is around 20 seconds shorter than previously.
This version was showed in cinemas in Sweden but has since gone un-cut. I was quite peeved when I watched the new BR and noticed these cuts.

    Nope.

Seems bizarre, don't you think? As much as I adore Spectre, trying to reinvent the classic henchman without telling the general audience what to call him was a mistake.

Hinx was a dumb name anyway. I'm glad it wasn't spoken.

I was never too keen on the name myself. Didn't hate it, but didn't love it, for its obvious similarity to Jinx. One of the funnier moments of production was when a Sony Pictures called Hinx "Jinx" by mistake on Twitter :)).

    Question about Moonraker :

Who do you think wanted t kill Bond in the PTS ? I doubt it was Jaws, he's just a hired hand (well, mouth). So what are your theories about those mysterious adversaries ?

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but I don't think it was discussed any further. In SP:

Q is adamant with Bond at one point that Franz Oberhauser is dead (and possibly buried, not sure if he mentions it.) However, when we see the article earlier in the film regarding the avalanche, it states that Franz's body was not found. Is this Q just generally speaking and assuming that he probably died? I can only assume so, because not once does it state that he was confirmed as dead.

    I think
Q was just trying to get Bond back in London.

From the Daniel Craig era postcard, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Spectre are all quite obvious but the Skyfall reference isn't coming to me; any help? Must have something to do with the mouth but I'm not seeing it...

EDIT: My opinion is that @Creasy47 and Walecs are both correct on the above. Q was 99% sure Oberhauser was dead given the information he had and really needed Bond back in London to protect his own career.

Could it be the bullets that Patrice uses on Bond.

    The skull representing M's death

The skull is too dia de los muertos for me to consider it a Skyfall reference (although I realize not all skulls are day of the dead skulls). Also Spectre is also referenced by the octopus.

Either way it's a pretty cool postcard.

    In Licence to Kill.

When Sanchez says "You were very quiet when I was arrested" to El Presidente, is that why the check to the leader is half the usual amount? Sanchez was upset with him?

Yes, Sanchez is obviously paying the President to keep him 'on side' and only pays him half his usual bribe because he didn't do much to help him when he needed it.

He then reminds him that the alternative to this situation is death (which fits his rule explained earlier of "lead or silver", i.e. be bribed or be killed).

I think the SF reference is the skull itself. It shares a decent resemblance with the graphic that pops up on M's laptop before the MI6 explosion, followed by the "Think on yours sins" message:

With some of SP's Day of the Dead imagery in mind, this scene has new interest and impact.

The gunbarrel nose looks more like an obvious SF reference, think of the promotional posters.

Knot or not? I don t know, it is just a drawing. The human eye sees anything it looks for I guess.

Shouldn't we ask Haserot? He's the one who made it.

I would say it's either the bullets are from the helicopter in the SF finale or represent the uranium shells that Patrice uses, or as @0BradyM0Bondfanatic7 said, the skull itself represents Silva's graphic that he uses in the message(s) to M. We have the left eye as the poker chip from CR and the nose is the Algerian love knot from CR, the right eye is a bleeding QUANTUM symbol from QoS, and the octopus is from SP. It's all very well done and would look beautiful framed and up on a wall.

Given the garbage we got for the last three films can someone give me a sound reason why Hasreot is not in charge of poster design at EON?

Walecs is incorrect in his presumption
that Bond is the only reason Oberhauser started SPECTRE. That's no where stated.

Well, no other reasons are stated either.
SPECTRE's main plan in SPECTRE (the setting up of the 9 eyes system, which ludicrously has China and Japan in an intelligence alliance, and South Africa having a veto vote) has little to do with revenge against Bond. The fact that Bond is incidental to their main plot is ipso facto proof that Bond is not Spectre's raison d'être,

I notice no one responded to your comment given that it makes absolute sense. It's almost as if it undermines the negative rhetoric...
