Johnny Depp injured his hand. Luckily it was not major and won't affect the production that much

Here's an article about it. There are some pics of Depp in Australia sporting the Jack Sparrow goatee and bandana

Unless it is the angle of the photo? But dear old Captain Jack looks like he may have put abit of timber on from the Black Pearl? ;)

Wouldn't be surprised if Brenton Thwaites was in there somewhere, seeing as his character is meant to be a British soldiers, unless he's the Will Turner looking character in the middle of the shot.

Also, Kaya's hair is looking quite pirate-y (this is her in Queensland).

Seems like Depp flew to the US for the surgery. Well, at least it wasn't worse. We wouldn't want the film to be delayed again.

Yeah, I had the same reaction. Let's hope it's just the angle.
It was nice of him to appear at those music events. Reminds me of when he visited that school during filming of Pirates 4.

Even if filming was delayed a bit, the release date isn't until July 2017. I know 2016 is pretty much fully booked but they're going to be sitting on this film for about a year probably (after all of the post production aspects are completed of course).

Some images posted by Joachim Ronning on Instagram and Twitter. The first two were posted back in March and the third was posted two days ago. Still hard at work. The first two may contain spoilers but some cool images none the less :)

I wasn't exactly a fan of the fourth film and neither was I a big fan of the first three films either. I suppose I'll wait for when this new one's released on DVD.

During Disney's D23 Expo, it was confirmed that Orlando Bloom will be reprising his roll as Will Turner in 2017's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. They also revealed the new logo and the name of Kaya Scodelario's character, Carina Smyth.

I was going to see this until I found out that Orlando Bloom (ing useless!) is coming back. Must have gone to the same acting school as Sam Woodenton, I mean Worthington.

That logo is really great. Can't wait for this film to come out. The wait better be worth it.

Have you guys seen this video by any chance?

It seems Angus Barnett's character Mullroy will be back for POTC5. He previously appeared in the first and third film. If you guys remember this guy:

Notice the man in red next to Jack on this pic (http://pirates.wikia.com/wiki/Pirates_of_the_Caribbean:_Dead_Men_Tell_No_Tales/Gallery?file=Jack_pirates_ship.jpgig - for higher resolution version) :

Here is a pic of Angus Barnett in a restaurant which is very close by were they filmed in Australia. Notice that he has autographs by Kevin McNally and Geoffrey Rush. That should prove he is indeed back. I mean, why else would he be there where they are filming?

A video from the set recently surfaced on YouTube. Take a look. It's very nice to see Jack with his crew again.

Depp as Jack Sparrow is what launched this franchise in the beginning, but looking at his one-man-show in OST was exhausting, so I'm glad they're bringing back as much of the old cast as possible. Rush as Barbossa is my favorite, I'm glad he's still participating. I also seem to be the only one who's excited for Orlando Bloom's return. Even if his performances were woorden and the whole romance/father issue substories weren't always as entertaining, they provided some actual plot (which OST lacked) and balanced out Depp's whackiness. I'm disappointed we won't be seeing Patel and Ragetti again, whose contributies to the series remains underappreciated in my opinion. Can't say the same about Keira Knightley (even tough I think she's a wonderful actress). Since DMTNT will be about her and Will's son, yet they couldn't get her to be in it, I suppose they will have her character killed off.

Very much agreed @SuzanneStone. Although I still loved OST I would have liked to have seen Pintel and Ragetti still around. I think it was a missed opportunity that they did not show a flashback scene on what happened when Blackbeard attacked the Black Pearl. Hopefully they were not killed off screen, but I have a feeling they have been. I do like Scrum though, and I'm glad he's back.

This pic of the crew on the set was posted yesterday - Celebrating "Talk Like a Pirate Day"

Hi all you mates. I know I have been absent for some time now. Yesterday I saw some news that motivated me to post here again.

Well those news are: POTC 5 TO BE RELEASED ON MAY 26, 2017

They delayed Star Wars Episode VIII until December 2017.I am really looking forward to see SW 8, but at least they made it up for us and bumped Pirates up, so that we don't have to feel sad about SW being delayed. Also both SW 7 and Rogue One have December releases as well. So the pattern works.

Here's the article about it: https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/disney-sets-new-dates-for-star-wars-episode-viii-and-pirates-of-the-caribbean-dead-men-tell-no-tales/
Star Wars: Episode VIII, originally scheduled for release on May 26, 2017, will now debut on December 15, 2017. The move follows the extraordinary success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was the first Star Wars movie to premiere in December. In the popular holiday moviegoing corridor, it smashed numerous records, including biggest domestic and global debuts of all time as well as the biggest domestic second and third weekends, en route to becoming the highest grossing domestic release of all time with over $861M and the third biggest global release ever with $1.887B.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: Episode VIII is currently in pre–production and will begin principal photography in London next month. Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman will produce and J.J. Abrams, Tom Karnowski, and Jason McGatlinwill executive produce. Stay tuned to StarWars.com for exciting updates in the coming weeks.

With Star Wars: Episode VIII jumping to December, Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will set sail on May 26, 2017, from its previously scheduled July 7, 2017, berth. The blockbuster franchise’s previous installment, the $1B-grossing Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, also debuted in late May.

In Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow with Geoffrey Rush back on board as Barbossa, Orlando Bloom resurfacing as Will Turner, and a terrifying new adversary, Captain Salazar, played by Javier Bardem, in the mix. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, the film is currently in post-production.

What do you guys think about this? The trailer will surely be released a little earlier then, or maybe that's just my wishful thinking.

Yes @M_Balje those featurettes are something I miss on my Blu-ray copy. I'm hoping for a re-release of the first four films. Especially for the release of the fifth film.

Joachim Ronning posted a few new images. One with good old Johnny doing some ADR for a scene.
