The name's 25. Bond 25, or rather, it's NTTD.

Well, good thing is James Bond is not Jason Bourne. "Spectre" in itself was enough as a title.

Yeah I know was making a joke it's like seriously Jason Bourne is the title really that is so stupid

Agreed. Name-given titles work for one-off films. I don't know why have they even called it Jason Bourne instead of The Bourne [Something]. It's like they are running out of ideas.
  • Call it Garden of Death and then do what the end of Spectre sets up with it.

And yet in any case the film in all likelihood is going to wipe the floor with the last 3 Bond movies. After the underwhelming Bourne Legacy I see this new film as a statement to remove any lingering impact the Aaron Cross character may have left. Jason Bourne maybe an uninspired title to you and others but the rationale behind it makes sense and more so than naming a Bond film SP and trying to create a worthless subterfuge by having the head initially being called Oberhauser to "mess" with people's expectations. This new Bourne film will put butts in cinema seats and the film will speak for itself.

Spectre has some meaning and context. This is actually quite depressing. We're into the stadium naming rights era of film titles.

Agreed. But at last I accepted it as a title because Craig's movies are a reboot.

Really? As a Bond fan I can honestly say the last 3 Craig outings are enjoyable but mediocre at best and don't come anywhere close to matching the thriller aspects of Damon's Bourne films. There's a reason why Bond has aped both Bourne and Batman these last few outings and worse yet, even Austin bloody Powers. This new Bourne teaser or TV spot resonated with me better than the last couple of theatrical trailers for SP so yeah, this new Bourne film in all likelihood will wipe the floor with the last few Bond films and the sad thing is, it's not terribly difficult to do so.

I respectfully disagree. Craig's last three movies have been great and enjoyable even with their flaws. I watched the first Bourne film and didn't bother with the others because the first one was Dull and Boring but I do admit this new Jason Bourne trailer has actually got me interested in the series. Craig's Bond borrowed from Bourne and Nolan's Batman and took it out of the park wiping the floor with both of them. But I'm not dismissing them as this will probably influence a darker harder edged film for B25 and I'm all for that.

Fair enough, although I don't agree Bond superseded Bourne and TDK. However, I do share the sentiment about Bond 25 though. One of the reasons why I've always maintained my huge optimism about how great Bond 25 will be is because when the competition put out good material and Damon's Bourne always brings it, EON put more effort and care into what they're doing especially when they have time on their side. If this new Bourne film is going to be on the same level or higher as/than Damon's previous 3 then EoN will step their game up considerably.

That means another Casino Royale (thematic-wise) is coming with Martin Campbell in the helming seat.

    wish I could multi quote

however (and this is I realize getting off topic but I will share similar views in the Jason Bourne forum) I only Saw Bourne Legacy (though I did see part of identity and part of I think Ultimatium) and I truly enjoyed Legacy and after seeing the Jason Bourne trailer I think I am going to rewatch the first three bourne films I do hope that Jason Bourne inspires EON to make a dark Bond film (hell I would even take the clichéd plot of Swann Dying and Bond Seeking revenge as long as it's done interesting and is well acted and crafted I am fine.)

For me I am nervous about the title because if Bourne got away with it....

@Risico007, let's form a league of defending The Bourne Legacy and Aaron Cross. :))

I hope we never get a Bond entry titled 'James Bond.' Not only would it be lazy, but now, it'll look like another blatant copy of the Bourne series. Plus, that's poor marketing to me; if we know his name, why not give us another book title or something creative instead of naming the fifth Bourne entry something as generic as his name?

Exactly. And it'd sound very stupid. Bond appeared in 24 movies, why would only this one be titles "James Bond"? Each movie must be unique, and the title must be based on the movie's distinctiveness.

Could be an allusion to Blofeld.

  • I couldnt disagree more about spectre being a bad title. I think its a brilliant title actually. Also qos was bad but skyfall and spectre are both good.

Quantum of Solace is a very good title, mainly because it has a complicated and philospophical explanation given to it, and I personally believe all the Bond titles should bear that template.

All the Bond films had good titles except TND, TWINE and DAD.

And AVTAK would be better off as FAVTAK.
