@DaltonCraig007, I've seen 'Sicario' twice now but still haven't watched my blu-ray copy yet. Can't wait.

@Shardlake, Deakins' work on it is, as usual, phenomenal. Pay attention to the score in the movie, too, it's incredibly well done and really fits the atmosphere of what's going on around the characters.

Indeed, the score is haunting, powerful and ominous

Preordered it and they mailed it a day early. I guess I got lucky.

@Creasy47 You'll be glad to know I loved it and Deakins cinematography is extraordinary, though Blunt and the supporting cast were good but this is Benicio's film.

Wish I'd caught it at the cinema now. The score is hugely atmospheric and brilliantly accompanies film, possibly my film of 2015 alongside Mad Max Fury Road.

If only SPECTRE had been even been approaching this level.
  • Here's a better view at the little bit of embossing on the "SPECTRE"-steelbook. You know, I'm certainly a minority, but I love the steelbook. It's simple & stylish. And it fits the other three Craig-steelbooks perfectly. Also the spine is the same design. Less is more if you ask me. Bond doesn't drive a Lambo.....it. lacks. style. A DB10 is clean and simple. Anyway, the steelbook:

Some other examples of (black) steelbooks that others might find 'boring', but that I love ;-):

@Shardlake, happy to hear that you loved it! Such a great film.

Also got my copy of SP in the mail today and it looks beautiful on blu-ray.

What did you think of the "Bond's Biggest Opening Sequence" documentary?

P.S. Was it the Best Buy one you bought? I still haven't gotten mine yet.

@jake24, I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. As soon as the movie ended, the hockey game was starting up. I'll get around to it sometime soon.

Yeah, it was the Best Buy one. I've heard many stories of people getting their items a day before release, and this was the first time it had happened to me, which was nice.

A wonderful, thundering beast of a score. Absolutely perfect for the film it accompanied.

Perfect description. Getting to hear the score trembling in the background as we get those sweeping landscape shots was brilliantly done.

Could someone with the regular (non stellbook) edition share a half decent shot of the back cover? I'm getting my custom cover ready in advance and need the specs off of it.
  • Now the blu-ray is out, is there any chance someone could provide screencaps from the movie?

Got mine yesterday afternoon from Amazon- could they have made a cheaper DVD package? Oh wait, they did, for Skyfall and QOS. Casino Royale is the only one that has had a respectable DVD release.

Money was a little short this week, but my wife still found a way to surprise me with it. Watched the first half last night, before I switched over to the hockey game... Priorities.

Just got my Steelbook now. It's a silly thing to complain about, but the menu is atrocious; like something I could make in 20 minutes. Other than the trailers, it seems like EoN has simply stopped trying in terms of marketing. I love the packaging, however.

The menu layout and music is the exact same as Skyfall. It uses the track "Breadcrumbs" again. Very lazy. Wow

The film looks great though. Very much enjoyed watching it again

Agreed with the first point because we never hear that score once throughout the film. But the blu ray looks phenomenal.

    This.

Very sad, very true. The only thing to expect when purchasing this movie in any format is the movie itself, and hopefully you're one of us that managed to enjoy it. It's lacking in a solid artwork/physical release, special features, just about everything but the movie itself.

Agreed. EoN are embarrassing themselves in terms of the content. I did however enjoy the Bond's Biggest Opening Sequence feature and the somewhat minimalistic packaging of the steelbook though. I just wish they'd gone for the title sequence design to go with the other ones that were released.

You can be sure they'll re-release a new boxset soon, too, with SP included and a 'Bond 25' slot and absolutely nothing else to offer, because hey: money's money.

It's sad how since 2010 the long and reliable DVD format gets the short straw, not just from Fox/MGM but practically every studio now just to make the features on blu-ray "exclusive". I think Criterion is the only company that produces blu-ray and DVDs with the same content. CR and QOS originally came out like that (aside from the short lived "single disc edition" that every studio practiced).

The last time a re-issue with newer features happened was with the collectors edition for CR in 2008 by Sony. QOS was originally slated for its own, as Forster revealed that a commentary for such a 2010 release was recorded, but then MGM had its issues and stuff like the commentary has never seen the light of day. It's in the archives somewhere, so who knows if that will ever see the light of day.

QOS really should have got the upgrade with the Bond 50 set. It's the odd one in the bunch with menus that don't match with the set.

Why the hell FOX Home Entertainment and the official 007 Social Media are promoting these videos with cast interviews, if they won't be at the DVD/BD? :O
