He's just being old and cranky (see, I can be ageist too). And I agree with most of your points. Still think it's borderline great film, but I don't think it's nearly as great as some say.

That said, I understand why people think that way, and I can respectfully disagree, unlike some.

OHMSS is a top 5 Bond film and very faithful to the Book. Lazenby definitely has charisma (rather than acting talent) and Peter Hunt is one of the best Directors of the franchise.

Interesting to see Thunderball at the bottom.
  • Interesting to see Thunderball at the bottom.
It's not a bad movie and it has some kind of charm, but IMO it's by far the less entertaining film of the franchise, I cant stand so many (and so long) underwater scenes.

I've just found this piece on "The Suits of James Bond". In it, the author ranks the Bond films by their tailoring. Enjoy!

I haven't had a proper viewing of all the films in quite a while. However, I can say after having seen Spectre on disc, the once great light surrounding it is fading. Out of the Craig era, it's coming in last for me at the moment. That will probably land it somewhere between 12 and 16 for me.

Haha! The tailor ranks LTK last. I would say TLD or one of the 70s Moore films.

Man, you think SF is more dull and dreary than QoS? Dull I'm not going to argue on (although I disagree), but the dreary bit I think is a little outrageous. QoS is the "dreary Bond" film.

And YOLT + TB are two of the least fun Bond films in the franchise? Ouch.

QOS is the opposite of dreary, it's an action roller-coaster ride.
As for TB and YOLT, they have rather lengthy and "dull" sequences.

By the way, this is how I feel, maybe you can do a re-watchability ranking so we see which movies you find the most re-watchable.

I would've put either LALD or GG last, but the Dalton's aren't much better. I'm surprised he thought so highly of Majesty's too.

I was about to yell at you for that.... then I remembered my own track record with it. :))
I have to be in just the right mood for the most violent Bond ever made. I love it, but I can't just throw it on at a whim, like I can DAF or DAD....

Yep. I didn't mean it to be a negative. Some films are just more rewatchable than others. I favorite is DN but somedays even that is a bit slow going, dare I say. DAF is a good standby for those times. :D

No worries. Octopussy is definitely an underrated gem. The problem is that is is so uneven in tone, and that everyone only remembers the clown outfit. The plot is deadly serious
