    Some good ideas being mentioned here.
    Whilst I'd be happy to see Daniel Craig return, I'd like it if he's not persuaded too if his heart isn't in it. Reluctant actors don't give their all.
    A new actor in the role would also allow for a shift in tone and story.
    A non revenge plot, involving espionage, a decent villain who does not know Bond and a Bond girl who does not work for any intelligence service. Keep the Mi6 stock company in London and hopefully get Felix Leiter into the mix as well.

    The composers use them less frequently as the John Barry estate is paid royalties rather than the composer seeing any cash. No rights issues.
  • Great, so we won't get them ever again, because of impoverished composers. Newman's score's have been absolutely shite, he just does some generic dross and turns up for the pay cheque.

    Bond should be placed by someone in their 30's or 40's, and he shouldn't deride Bond as a misogynist as Craig has.

    Craig think Bond should be PC - time to eject.

But then doesn't he want Bond alive so he can taunt him? In which case why send Hinx at all? Beats me) but what is Bond's reasoning for sitting at a deserted station in the desert?

    As usual with SP's script when you ask a simple question you end up with more questions than answers.

    I just assumed they were switching lines to get to closer to the location. It stops at a station, which suggests you can get multiple trains from there, otherwise why have a station? It's in the middle of nowhere. Blofeld clearly knows where they are, but they don't know he does. Honestly, it seemed pretty reasonable to me. They're clearly surprised when the Phantom rocks up.

    Like I said above, I had assumed he was travelling to a closer location - from which he would plan an attack. Blofeld moves the goalposts when the Phantom arrives.

    It just needed a little more spark in the characterizations for me to totally buy into all the nonsense in the plot, and perhaps a different leading lady.

    Just that bit of OTT that characterize classic Bond participants (Klebb, Khan, Orumov, Kaufmann etc.). I found it was missing that.

    The closest film it tries to be like visually is TSWLM imho, but that film had charisma popping out of every pore.

    - A score that actually sounds like a Bond score.

    - A megalomaniac villain with a masterplan to dominate/destroy mankind.

    - A villainess (Bond girl).

    - A bombshell dumb/naive Bond girl (à la Ursula Andress or Britt Ekland).

    - Bond on skis.

    - Tom Ford's breathtaking perfect clothes.

    - Action in space (satellite, space shuttle kidnapping etc. / not Bond in space)

    - Diamonds, give me Diamonds!

    - Dinner with the villain

    - Shirley Bassey, still a million miles better than whining Adele.

    - Decent movie posters.

    - 2 year gaps between movies. It's doable for Heaven's Sake.

    Mary Goodnight was a recurring character in the novels. It is about damn time she returned.

  • David Arnold. His scores for Casino Royale and QOS were incredible and much better than Thomas Newman's. David Arnold, to me, is the closest we have to John Barry. He knows how to switch between heartstopping action and heartbreaking tenderness brilliantly. I really miss his contribution.
  • Seductive theme tunes! All of Craig's era has had downbeat songs but surely they can't get more downbeat than Writing's On The Wall

    Just watched QOS, there is a lot to criticise in that movie, but also a lot to praise.

    Olga Kurylenko should return in Bond 25, somehow with time passing she is becoming my favourite Bond girl of the Craig-era.
    It also would make sense to bring her back.
