Oh? That's one of the weird American traditions I'll never understand. Why would one want to watch movies while sat in a car? Ugh.
Yes, seemed really strange that the estimate all of a sudden quadrupled.
:-\"
:\"> :)) ;)
I think Sony has played the "dive in" card in the very last hand and it has won. Finally, Spectre is going to be in the top 10 of 2015 in North America with over 200 million. Of course, we should wait untill actual figures, but if it is not today, SP will have its last milestone this week. Congratulations!
However they did it I'm surprised and pleased.
SP may have stayed longer in the NA market than in some other markets. Yes?
Switzerland, one of the many European countries where Spectre broke record after record it was practically dead once Star Wars opened.
Without Star Wars, Spectre would now be the most successful Bond ever, because you have to count in the very different currency exchange situation to 2012.
The performance in the U.S., down more than $100 million, vs. Skyfall, or more than 33 percent, is the main reason why SPECTRE didn't reach $1.1 billion.
SPECTRE was released in the U.S. in early November. Its opening weekend was $70 million, down from Skyfall's opening weekend of $88 million.
SPECTRE was lower than Skyfall from the start in the U.S. and this was well before Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out.
As said and proven many times there are two simple reasons for not reaching SFs Box Office.
1. 120 Mio less US Box Office
2. Appr. 130 mio less in US Dollar due to unfavorable exchange rates.
It is as simple as that
It' been at that spot for a few months, after it passed Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation.

We can wax lyrical about such things, but there's absolutely no guarantee that a 'better' SP would've equalled a higher gross. To listen to this forum you'd think Rogue Nation was the Citizen Kane of the genre, yet it still made less than SP in the US and had it's ass handed to it internationally. Box Office still means nothing IMO.
Bond rules; Hunt is merely cools.
It is the best Bond since GE!
PS: nice to see you back :)
Once they knock it down to 1 screen it really is going to take off.
Yes. I used to think that when the number of screens go down, the money gathered goes down, but I now see it's the opposite here, and I suppose they're just narrowing it down in search of that one perfect screen and then it'll be over the billion in no time.

I mean "Craig’s deal is not very rich – $7M upfront plus about $4M on the back end"
sounds very low to me?
It has been reported various other places to be considerably higher.
Craig has zero cache outside of Bond.
Yup - thats why I find it suspect
Casino Royale (2006) $3.200.000
Quantum of Solace (2008) $7.200.000
Cowboys & Aliens (2011) $6.000.000
Dream House (2011) $5.000.000
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo$6.000.000
Skyfall (2012) $17.000.000 plus bonuses for certain box-office milestones

By the way, if Deadline article is right, EON and MGM had an incredibly good deal with Sony.
