    He'd do a good job B-)

As Mr. Big yes. As Bond, no.

I'd pick a 63 year old Pierce over any of these other Bond potentials any day. Same with Timothy.....especially Timothy. To be honest so many of these Bond contenders are so wrong for 007 you might as well put Screech from Saved By The Bell on that list.

I suggested that and people thought I wasn't taking the poll seriously.

No-one's absolutely perfect, but Fassbender's (just) the right age, the most ruggedly handsome and masculine of the set (Elba's next, but I'm not wild on Bond being black) and is both a tremendous actor and experienced in blockbuster action roles. Doubt he'd take it, but he's my No.1 with Dan Stevens following up.

Dan Stevens was my No 1 up to The Night Manager. But now I think Hiddy would be perfect.

I went ahead and added Ewan McGregor to the list- get some Scottish charm back in the series! If not, Fassbender would be next forme

Surprised not to see a single vote for Tom Hardy.

The voting so far is telling, because it suggests that the two most highly rumoured replacements seem to be favoured even here amongst us die hards.

@bondjames if we go back in time to the same point after DAD (may 2003), I don't think anyone would vote for Daniel Craig. He probably wouldn't even be mentioned in this thread. It wasn't until 'Layer Cake' that he started gaining momentum, and still his casting announcement came as a surprise, 1 year after Layer Cake had been released.

    That's true @DaltonCraig007. Fair point.

I do think that was a 'one off' though, due to the need to reboot after DAD with someone edgier, and also because reboots were all the rage. I have a feeling they will go with someone more well known this time around. I'm also willing to bet that it will be someone 'smoother' rather than 'harder'. They tend to alternate.

that is true, but i think us fans have gotten a bit smarter in terms of searching for the next Bond. no one here is seriously suggesting Tom Hardy for example (like the media is still doing) but instead we get small TV names like Aidan Turner leading the field, so i think it's more realistic to assume that guy has a shot.

Hiddleston also basically just shot his "Layer cake" being The Night Manager, thats why we are debating him now. i don't think anyone thought of him as Bond material before that.
Or you could make a case that High Rise is his Layer Cake, since he is....
"romantically involved" with Sienna Miller in that one

I'm with @bondjames I believe Craig was the exception. The next Bond actor will be someone known to people. Today I go so far to say I can't see how it will not be Hiddleston. Probably only if A: Craig comes back B: Hiddy doesn't want to C: BB has not the hots for him.

    Result after 35 votes:
    1981 Tom Hiddleston - 9
    1972 Idris Elba - 1
    1983 Aidan Turner - 9
    1977 Michael Fassbender - 9

If rumours about the Craig casting are true, this could sadly be the deciding factor again.

I distinctly remember back in 2003/04 seeing lists of potential Bond actors, with the likes of Sam Worthington, Dominic West, Henry Cavill, Alex O'Loughlin and Gerard Butler. Daniel Craig was always at the bottom of the list, usually with some mean anecdote like 'Daniel Craig- sure he's British, but they're not serious, are they??'

    So you just never know!

Really hope Craig does one more as I really like him as Bond.

But the thought of the intense Fassbender as 007 is a very exciting prospect.

I believe Hiddleston, Hardy, and Turner have actually expressed an interest in the role. Not sure about our current leader Fassbender.

I have to say I actually favor an actor in his 40s in the role. I like a seasoned Bond.

    It's great, isn't @Mendes4Lyfe?

I was always a fan, but And then there were none sold him completely to me. It was the brutal acting combined with the looks, not simply donning a dinner jacket.

Anyone who hasn't seen it yet, should check it.

Yes, brutal is a good word to use. The Bond we have at the moment is way to sympathetic. There is no ambiguity to him. I think Aidan Turner would be a Bond that would ride the line. Nice guys finish last, as they say. B-)

In And Then There Were None, Turner showed that he could play 'a bit of a bastard' without being unlikeable. He can be tough, without needing to be built like a brick out-house.

AWESOME. You could start off a teaser trailer with this very shot, and the whole audience would instantly know it's the trailer for a new Bond.

One of them looks like a woman, one doesn't. Just kidding (But am kind of not...)

I always think of Draco saying "What she needs is a MAN! To DOMINATE her!". Which one of those two more qualifies there? And which of the two could you actually picture fighting Oddjob or Mr.Hinx etc?

Yes, a slow fade up from black. That would work nicely. I'm getting chills just thinking about it!

I'm changing my mind (for now) i had a Hiddle-heavy weekend where i watched a lot of his stuff, and i think Tom is in a lot of ways a better candidate that Turner (who remains a close second)
they are kind of 60/40 for me at the moment.
