Will there be a "salute" to the 50th anniversary of Bond in "Skyfall" like there was in "DAD" for

I think making the best possible film would be a salute. Every film has had some problem along the way, so if Craig and Mendes could get around that (somehow), things should shape nicely.

No. They don't add anything, they completely detract (except for the Q Lab scene in DAD).

I don't mind some small things in the background, that we'll know what it is but not so obvious like in die another day. i wouldn't mind a scene just of the previous bonds around a card table just a quick glimpse, or if they wouldn't all do it just bond passing them in the street/restaurant for example
  • I hope not, considering what a hash they made of them in DAD. If subtle nods to the history can be made in a manner that doesn't take one out of the film, I wouldn't mind.

No references. At all. I don't even want the DB5 back.

They did a Cubby homage on TND.

  • I would like to see something in the credits like "In memory of John Barry".

I'd like to see just ONE famous quote from ANY previous Bond movie. It'd be cool.

Why not, it's a bit anniversary and it should be recognised, just a couple of little nods to the series past would be fine and probably welcomed by the masses.

I don't these elements were the worst things about DAD either, for me they are the only reason to watch it again.

    Where? Exept in the End.
  • I would like to see a nod. Maybe a Lois, Desmond, or Bernard reference. I agree though. No cameos from former 007s.

    1. Every single book & movie title in existence should be worked into the dialogue.
    2. Bond should use every previous actor's name as a pseudonym throughout the film.
    3. Every time Bond goes anywhere near anyplace where a radio might be present, a previous Bond theme shd be playing -- all shd be included if possible.
    4. Cameos, cameos, cameos. If they've had anything to do with Bond and are still alive, they're in this movie!!
    5. Even if Bond asks for a glass of water it shd be "shaken not stirred".
    6. Every Bond villain shd come back as a zombie.
    7. Every single gadget from every book/movie/comic etc. shd be used in the movie, several at once if necessary to get them all in.
    8. "James Bond" shd be said by every single speaking character at least once in the movie even if he's not in the scene.
    9. Every vehicle ever used in every Bond story shd appear in a stock-car race (as a sort of homage to OHMSS) and every vehicle gadget deployed.
    10. Change the title to: "James Bond Starring In A James Bond Adventure Featuring James Bond Happy 50th James Bond!"

Yeah, that shd just about do it ;)

Of course the ultimate "homage" would be if it was just a good espionage movie that stood on its own...

I think that the elephant from TMWTGG should get a big role in SF as a homage to TMWTGG. It deserved a much bigger role.

I would say no to anything apart from sa few ubtle little winks like the Bernard Lee portrait in TWINE. Bascially only stuff fans will notice but not Joe Public. The DB5 is enough for them.

One thing I would like is an epic PTS which Bond somehow survives by a miracle. Whereupon someone shakes his head in amazement and says to him
    'I admire your luck Mr?'
    'Bond, James Bond'

Then wallop - into the title song. Sort of like the end of CR was done.

I hope not. They have a hard enough job of trying to make an at least Bond film, without the added pressure of an anniversary film.

Try not to make a horlicks of Bond this time, when the film is in the can, then go all out with the celebrations. A good 2hr+ documentary (considering the length of the making off on the SE DVD's, 2hrs should be easy), and a round table discussion with as many of the Bonds as possible would be a nice starting point.

Look yes DAD took it way too far(although some of them I quite liked)....but Bond only turns 50 once. It's a big deal, I'm hoping for a few nods and winks personally

Was the car chase in DAD a reference to a movie in Bond? or it was just original?

Surely just an action sequence for that years release and no real association with anything from the past. Looking back, I don't think they went too overboard with the homages to past Bond's in 2002, if you watch the film, you don't always tend to notice these things. My biggest bone of contention is having the ugly Berry come out of the sea a la Ursula Andress.. it was abysmal and an awful nod to the original incident, they even did it again four years later with Craig, the less said the better
  • I do believe we need any salute at all? No reason to do it......I just want a normal Bond adventure with no additional thing just because its the 50 anniversary

We don't really need any salute, granted, but as it's such a big occasion for all involved you know there will be some level of past reference, we just don't seem to know how much. I sincerely hope it is kept to a minimum, but I fear if they have their way we will get all kind of Britishness and Bond nods a la Die Another Day, coming left right and center, but I do hope that isn't the case

Homages that should be used in SF representing every film.

    DN: Walther PPK
    FRWL: Istanbul
    GF: Astin Martin
    TB: An underwater shot
    YOLT: Fake Bond's death
OHMSS: Brief reflection on the loss of a loved one.
DAF: Bond enters a casino or someone wears a diamond.
LALD: Go inside of Bond's house
TMWTGG: A villian's lair off of China
TSWLM: A good fight with a henchman
MR: A brief shot of the moon
    FYEO: Q's lab
OP: An MI6 secretary not named Moneypenny, or named Moneypenny
AVTAK: A good main title sequence song
TLD: Bond telling someone to piss off
    LTK: Disagreeing with M
    GE-QOS: Judi Dench

I like what they did in QOS. The oil covered body was a nice touch among the other nods.

Yes but IMO it was Nonsense, as that movie wasn't the 50th's anniversary one. For me, it was a unnecessary scene, or they could modify the scene, she should just be dead.

Well I just got new Total Film mag this PM and the Skyfall 3 page had a few new titbits to add.

According to sources Albert Finney is playing a character named Kincade who appears to have a vast collection of firearms. sound familiar to a character from TLD?

If he is playing an arms dealer type role then fine I'm all for it.

Good or bad I'm sure he will a great supporting character.
  • DAD over did it IMO. As long has Skyfall is a good film that should be enough. I think Bond using the Walther PPK is homage enough, along with the DB5.
