J.W. Pepper

Has anyone found out which county/Parish he is the sheriff of??
In LALD he wears the uniform of a sheriff and refers to himself as a sheriff, but is put in place by a state patrol captain.
in TMWTGG he says on the radio " this is sheriff jw pepper, louisiana state police" - which makes no sense.
The reason for me asking is, that I am trying to track down and buy a uniform and hat, with the right insígnia on it.

Yes, and with a much bigger screentime in each outing ! :)>-

Pepper would have his own film franchise, and his own buddy TV series with Roger Moore ! :-bd

With NicNac as a sidekick? :)

I can see it happen. The show would be called 'Salt & Pepper', starring Roger Moore as Moses Salt, a writer / detective and Clifton James as J.W. Pepper, his Louisiana police connection. They roam the waters of Louisiana looking for bandits and beautiful women.

After the second season, there will be a film: 'Salt & Pepper take Miami' where our two heroes trail a drug cartel into the wild life of Miami. This film will have a guest appearance of Richard Kiel as Jaws, temporarily working for drug overlord BB Morone, played by Putter Smith.

Too bad the show will be cancelled after five season, especially with the introduction of Elijah Salt, Moses' never before mentioned brother, replacing Roger Moore and played by William Shatner. However, twenty years later, a new and big budget film will be produced with the title 'Salt & Pepper 2000', starring Ashton Kutcher as Moses Salt and Seth Rogen as J.W. Pepper. Clifton James will appear in a cameo as a cab driver. The film will upset us all and effectively terminate the Salt & Pepper "franchise".

Actually, Dimi's view of the situation would be exactly what would have happened with the show.

This is what happens with 70s-80s cop shows. Ah... the death of Starsky and Hutch...

Indeed, you picked it up well, @Agent007391. I was sort of having fun with the whole cop show thing and how several series were butchered in the past. ;-)

And when movies are made of today's cop shows, they'll be completely respectful, casting actors who are almost mirror images of the original actors. That just shows you that nobody gives a damn about those old, good cop shows (TJ Hooker - and yes, I liked it - Starsky and Hutch, I'll actually go pretty far back and say Dragnet, as well), but today's standardized, procedural dramas (Law & Order, CSI, the current Hawaii 5-0), which are all practically the same with interchangeable locations and characters will be treated with total respect.
