By the way, we share a similar love for Brosnan's 3rd film :-). I still think that it's Brosnan's best outing.

They were both essential in downgrading FYEO for me.
Yes, I thought this way too, until recently. I've since discovered that Bibi was quite a creative addition. Firstly, she is a bit of light relief and plays well with Moore. Secondly, she is a means to address Moore's age, something which has rarely come up. Thirdly, she does, it her gushing way, provide Bond with the necessary information on Kreigler. Bond has to act like he is vying for her affections so she will give up the information. Lastly, she helps Columbo get over the death of the Countess at the end. Nicely done.

Well that's just how I rank them at the moment. I love them all, although some more than others. The first ten or so are favorites and the rest kinda fall wherever although DAD is a guilty pleasure of mine, I don't think it's so bad, just too ambitious for the amount of effects works needed to make it look more polished and few acting moments that make me cringe. DAD is pure comic book i.e Serpent's Tooth/Video Game Bond on the big screen. It's pure fantasy or the over the top Bond created by Roald Dahl and Lewis Gilbert. Possibly ahead of it's time and foreshadows the rise of the effects heavy comic book films, especially stuff like the MCU films and Nolan Bat-Films. I always felt the Ra's Al Ghul twist and having Bruce in an asian prison in Batman Begins were subtly inspired by some elements of DAD. And there's also some who say The Dark Knight Rises is a remake of TWINE. So it's kinda interesting and ironic that Craig's Bond would take some of the cues from Batman Begins and the whole rebooted universe idea. The whole dark and gritty vs. the fantastical, which is something the Nolan Bat-films did very in well balancing and should return to future Bond films hopefully.
I like Live and Let die. It's has some really fun moments and I like the supernatural voodoo elements of the story. The alligator farm and following boat chase are epic. That one just kinda fell near the end as I was going through the list but it's still a solid Bond film. Just not one of my personal top ten faves. On another day I might have placed it higher. Like I said I love all the films.

It's because in this social-media shithole, that planet Earth is these days, our expectations become insanely high....unrealistically high. Hence the reason SP is, undeservedly, dead last on many lists. Pure utter shame.
Not compared to the Bond fans that were our age in the 1960's...our 1970's. I even don't get why are expectations should be unrealistically high. Why not....realistically high.
Could be. But I doubt it. Topics like these.......also exist because of the constant changes people make in their rankings. My ranking has been firm and exactly the same as 5 months ago.
I had SP tentatively at 10 originally, as a benefit of the doubt placeholder when I first watched it, but looking back on it now, I realize this was too optimistic. It was actually one of the more disappointing experiences I had in the theatre in 2015, and that perception has actually been reinforced during recent blu ray watches, rather than reversed. I currently have it at 21, a position where it is likely to stay for some time.

Ooowh, it does. Especially with non-Bond-fans :-). Just look at the IMDB rating. It resembles the pleasure people had with CR :-).
It's just the Bond fans themselves....who are still grumpy about SF and who only slowly accept that this Bond film is liked a lot by people who aren't Bond fans :-).
I call that "Out of the box success", and Bond needed that. It also created some new blend of fans.
