Hiddle just needs to put on a bit more beef and then he'd be perfect for it imho. That gif from Skull Island which was posted a while back reminds me of Jeremy Irons in DH3 - just not enough muscle on him yet.

Of course Irons would of made a decent 007 in my controversial opinion in the 90's and Pierce Brosnan would of made a good villian in Die Hard with a vengeance... But I digress

I have no idea of the credentials of the source.

Thanks for the info @Pierce2Daniel, saw this yesterday posted by JamesBondDownUnder profile on Instagram. Not sure how reliable the source is.

Hope its Aidan Turner. If not, that Theo James looks decent. Please, EON, stick to one of those. Don't go crazy.

Can't the media find a decent candidate to make up rumors about? We have yet to see a rumor about any actor who might actually be a suitable choice.

If any of these rumors were actually true, these would be worrying times for the franchise. Thankfully, they're not.

I don't think I'll even discuss this "new candidate/new Bond actor rumoured" topics until Eon makes an announcement. Wake me up when Spring comes.

    Hello! He's back.

I thought Turner was going to be announced 100% about a month ago according to some crappy article you posted about bookies suspending the betting. How did that work out for you @Mendes?

He wasn't. I don't think he would make a good Bond, but I loved his portrait of Fleming.

Yeah I thought it was interesting the way they had him playing Fleming the way that Fleming envisioned himself, rather than being 100% realistic.

EON is a lot sneakier than that. Its become clear to me what they're doing now. EON must be planting the seeds themselves, letting out the rumours, testing the waters. They want to see how the public reacts to a given name before throwing their chips down. Who will become victorious in the end? Who knows. No one can answer that. Probably Aidan Turner or perhaps Theo James at a stretch.

I'm wondering what my next viewing of SP is going to be like, I've not seen it since early November, I'm waiting for the Blu ray to drop near a fiver (I'm not joking).

Interesting. I haven't seen it since last November either. Although, I do own the Blu-ray, it's just been collecting dust. At first, I had no desire to watch it because I was so massively disappointed in it. Then I realized that I needed more time away from it, so that I could approach it with an open mind next time out. Perhaps the anticipation will even help me see it in a new light? We'll see. I'm not holding my breath.

Likewise with me, although I haven't grabbed the Blu-Ray yet. Saw Spectre twice in theaters—felt pretty divided the first time around and even less enthused the second, so we'll see how a fresh viewing with tempered expectations treats the film. I'll probably pick it up in the fall. That's sort of a new tradition I began with QOS and have carried through Skyfall and Spectre. Truthfully, while QOS has grown on me immensely, there just hasn't been a new Bond film since Casino Royale that has made me think "Wow, I can't wait to watch that again!" Delaying my first home viewing of the latest one also helps with the wait between films. It sort of gives me an "almost new but not quite" Bond film to watch along the way, so that's a nice bonus.

Strangely, for me, SP plays better on my big screen TV than on the huge screen at the theater. I felt the film -- at the cinema -- seemed dull and flat and, well, confused with itself. I popped in the Blu Ray at home only intending to make sure it worked. Instead, I watched the whole thing. The action and the blah story seemed better, maybe even "bigger" on a smaller screen. It still all fell apart halfway through. But for a good hour or more, I was actually enjoying myself. So different than my experience at the theater.

Good to hear, maybe my experience will be similar. If all goes well, I may even enjoy the second half too!

No one can answer it. But you thought you'd have a go anyway. And after running all the data through your newly patented Turnergraph 1000 Bond Actor Predictor hey presto its probably going to be Aidan Turner after all. Who'd have thunk it?

Does that mean if I watch it on my phone it will get even better? How small do you need to go before the third act isnt a shambles do you think? If I shrink myself, get injected into Martin Short's arse and watch it on a screen one atom wide does it actually become better than OHMSS?

Thank you, Wizard, for a really good laugh to start my day. Nearly sprayed coffee on my monitor. =))

But unfortunately, I do not believe there is a screen small enough to make the third act of SP work on any level. So i have bought into the conspiracy theory that it was all a dream that Bond had while in a coma after being tortured by Blofeld. Or maybe even before that as part of a negative reaction to Q's smartblood. (I assume MI:6 raided Blofeld's lair and saved Bond.) I don't feel they need to address it in a future movie -- just move on.

Could Chris Hemsworth be the next James Bond? Actor says he would gladly replace Daniel Craig as 007
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3699572/Chris-Hemsworth-says-gladly-replace-Daniel-Craig-007-James-Bond-Movie.html

I imagine they will add his brothers to the list by the end of the week. And hey, Liam even comes with his own Bond girl. That wrecking ball will look great swinging across an IMAX during the song.

Thankfully, this most likely takes Hemsworth out of the running. He'd have made a terrible Bond anyway.

When will these actors learn? If you truly want to take on the part of Bond, keep your mouth shut to the media and let your agent negotiate it behind the scenes. I would say that it's probably just a means of self-promotion, but I don't think Hemsworth really needs the publicity.

Sadly for Hemsworth, and thankfully for us, his Thor costar's' (yes even Elba) have a far better chance to be the next Bond than he or his brother ever will.

Let's just hope Daniel can be persuaded to continue even though the writing appears to be on the wall.

I would prefer the writing be on the wall than in the gutter, where it's been lately.

Yeah I don't want Craig persuaded if he's truly done with the part.

Oh FFS. Hemsworth is a block of wood who bombs in anything that isn't a Marvel movie. WTF is it about the entire cast of that godawful Thor movie being contenders for Bond?

Interesting that they supposedly screentested Jamie Bell and Theo James, aged 30 and 31. If true, seems to hint they're at least semi-rebooting with a young Bond. I mean there's no way either of these two would be taking over from Daniel Craig's Bond. (They'd both be 10 years younger than Naomie Harris' Moneypenny!)

He's currently in Ghostbusters. Attaching your name to Bond means you get free press for yourself and your movie in the UK.
