Yet still, we GoldenEye fans completely disregard all of that because we don't care!
Precisely! Plotholes or no plotholes, the beauty of this movie is clearly evident either way!
Preach it Brother!
The scene where Bond is given the diamonds that were cremated with Franks' body. If the diamonds were fake then wouldn't they have burned up with Franks' body?
The bad editing that never explained the death of Plenty O'Toole. Only from seeing deleted scenes do we know why she came to be killed by Kidd and Wint. Sloppy.
Now if the Aston Martin has bullet proof windshield (standard issue) then how did Bunt's bullet kill Tracy in OHMSS?
Kanaga's death in LALD. that is just not feasible.
Jaws surviving many falls from TSWLM and MR. These would have killed a man but not him?
TLD How did Koskov survive that explosion on the airfield when his jeep ran into that gasoline truck?
DAD Why did Miranda go thru that whole song and dance by sleeping with Bond only to capture him later? Why not let Graves' man grab him when she bumped into him out snooping around? And if Graves knew who he was, why wasn't Bond being watched more closely? He is given free run of the ice palace.
That's actually quite feasible gents. I did it just last week in my backyard. :D
Pics or it didn't happen.
It'd been too dangerous to take pictures. You should've seen all the shrapnel and debris. I got jailed and needed bailed out, the case went federal, the government got involved, it wasn't pretty. Ahhh well. Boys with toys. :D
in all seriousness
In TWINE, if a log mill needs a metal detector so it doesn't shatter the blade. How can the same type of blade chop a BMW z8 in half without shattering?
The plane crashed after I flew it around(after I fell from the air into the cockpit). I just suck at landing and ironically bailed out into my backyard. Dad was angry. (joke over)
These are good questions, especially the ones about Koskov, Tracy, and Jaws. I had never thought about the Tracy thing before! All of Bond's vehicles had some sort of bullet-proof windshield, except for the BMW in TND, which shattered at a few machine gun rounds, so obviously Q forgot to add it in!
I agree, something that has always bothered me. Please don't captalise every letter though, very annoying and there's no need for it @Rhys11.
Welcome aboard!
my thought is why??.. the b**** played him for a fool the entire time, on numerous occasions tried to have him killed, and just a minute before was getting off on the idea of strangling him to death in a torture device.... - Bond then (in one of the few good Brosnan moments) without hesitation puts a round right into her chest.. but as awesome as that was - it's spat on by this moment of sadness..... WTF?
I couldn't picture any of the Bonds other than Pierce doing this... Connery would've ended it with the "I never miss" line and then jumped after Renard - no time for love (dr jones lol)...
same thing goes with DAD as well..... Miranda Frost was the one who betrayed him in North Korea, set him up - had him imprisoned for 14 months.. and the whole time, Bond is searching for her (the one who set him up).. and when he does find out it's her, he doesn't hesitate to shoot her - but his gun has no bullets (how convenient - never trust a loose woman i guess lol)... but then on the plane, when he finds her body - he has this (again) brief moment of sorrow/remorse... WHY????!?!?!...
ugh.. those brief seconds make my head hurt.
Yes, @haserot, and James "FREAKING" Bond, the best secret agent of MI6, can't tell the difference between wwhen his gun is full of bullets or empty. That irks me, and insults the character. A rookie knew more than Bond in DAD, especially in that moment.
Yeah, I've never figured this out either Brady! One of the confusing moments of QoS, which we don't need since the entire movie is very hard to understand.
Kind of Bipolar. I love you, I love you not, I love you, I love you not, OH I JUST SHOT YOU!...I love you not...
Your point is well taken. I read the sudden tenderness toward Elektra as regret--regret that she was kidnapped, regret at the advice M gave her father, regret that she turned evil. She still has to be taken out by Bond because of the threat her communication to Renard poses to Istanbul, but that doesn't mean he likes having killed her.
Very good point there @echo! I'd never thought of that before.
One part that has neevr made sense to me is in FYEO, during Kristatos' fight with Colombo. Because of strange editing I guess, we see Colombo trip Kristatos, who falls to the ground and drops the ATAC out in front of him. Then, in the very next shot, Kristatos is back on the stairs fighting Colombo where the fight initially began. Then, we see Bond and Melina come running out, and Bond stops to pick up the ATAC, and we see Kristatos back on the ground once more, crawling to grab the ATAC from Bond. WHAT? I like FYEO, but that's some pretty bad editing!
Yea it makes no sense. I think the "RUN" note was just inserted in there as an excuse for Bond to ask Camille to stay downstairs while he went to check the room
good posts. It has never ceased to amaze me how Bond movies with their mammoth budgets can have such sloppy writing and editing. :((
Here's my take- and what I totally don't get:
Bond actually explains it to Vesper on the beach, but he mumbles and it took a couple viewings for me to actually get what he even said.
It was along the lines of 'remember when I told Mathis about Le Chiffre's 'tell'-- well Mathis told Le Chiffre.' (which is how Bond initially lost all his money)
Later on Le Chiffre tells Bond 'I'm afraid your friend Mathis is really MY friend Mathis.'
That much I got.
Here's where it gets confusing for me:
Then Quantum of Solace comes out and now Mathis was innocent? HOW? I mean, OK, I like the character, and I'd much rather have him as an ally than a villain, but how does it explain what unfolded in CR? Especially Le Chiffre's line to Bond?
This is what was never explained-- unless I'm just really dense.
