I think that might make no 1
Thats interesting GG.....i hope OHMSS is 3rd but ive a sick feeling in my stomach that it might be FRWL......God i hope not.
5.) DN
4.) GF
3.) FRWL
2.) OHMSS
1.) CR
1 for 2 so far.
And if it was the other way around :-P? SF missing out spot #5 by 11 points :-P?
By 111 points would have been satisfying :P
do you agree?
It's #1 for me, with FRWL just behind. I have a hard time imagining my top two will change any time soon, either.
Yeah - FRWL is my number one, CR is my number two. But as I've stated many times on this forum before if a non-bond friend says 'show me the best Bond film' I'd put on CR for them. I think structurally it is an expertly told story and emotionally it pays off better than any other Bond film and the start is loaded with suspenseful action sequences. FRWL is my personal top 007 film for many other reasons. But FRWL and CR are easily my favourite Bond films.
I think OHMSS is next, followed by either FRWL (preferably imho) or CR at the top.
I don't actually.
While I like CR, the film is nowhere near a faithful adaptation of the novel. The first half of the film is an original storyline and the ending is nothing like the novel's subtle handling of Vesper's final struggle.
Sure the casino and torture scenes are pretty close to the source material, but the film overall is not more Fleming than either of the Dalton films I'd say. Definitely not as faithful as FRWL or OHMSS in any case.
I like that CR uses Fleming as inspiration, then spins it into an adventure that is part adaptation, part original with the necessary fixes in between.
Comedy ??!!
:-O
British Absurdity, sorry.
I prefer the words,let me think,,ah yes...crock of crap.
I agree. I think they did a great job by bringing CR into the new millenium. Anyway I find that the source material - as great as it is - is probably the most difficult one to use, especially if you want to make a high budget film. Therefore I guess the combination of Casino scenes and actions scenes was done pretty well in CR.
CR was an instant classic and it's a wondeful, modern adaption of the great book and the film definitely belongs and should stay in the Top 5 forever.
As said before: OHMSS at #1 would be too high for me and I hope it ends at either #3 or #2.
Just between those 3 my ranking would be:
1. FRWL
2. CR
3. OHMSS
Very curious how it will look like in the end :-)
