Author Gregory Klein brings together an extensive knowledge of Bond, spiritual archetypal mythology (which plays a major role in “Skyfall”), and geopolitics (which plays a major role in all the Bond movies) in an entertaining and informative package. This two-book treatise also contains much extra material. The package is intended to be a spiritual-geopolitical awakening agent for the James Bond fan and includes the following:

Book One: SpyFail -- An Irreverent 007-Part Critical exposition on Skyfall and Bond at 50 for The Discerning 007 Fan with a Pithy Bondian Sense of Humor. This book covers “Skyfall” in detail -- including an extensive exploration of the movie’s story themes.

Book Two: Detente Indeed! -- Bond as A GeoPolitical Awakening Agent. This book explores each and every James Bond movie in the light of Bond’s GeoPolitics -- and those GeoPolitics are not what you may think.

James Bond Extras -- This section explores the two confused periods in 007 movie history -- the late 60s / early 70s period and the mid 80s period. The section also includes the author’s personal rankings of the major Bond movie elements.

Stealth -- This is an outline for a new super-spy movie script inspired by James Bond but improving upon the 007 standard.

GeoPolitical Supplement -- This deliberately “out-of-place” section is not directly relevant to Bond but is provided to complete the author’s intention of using the 007 movies as a GeoPolitical awakening agent for the Bond fan.

It all sounds very interesting, @gklein. I may have to invest in a copy as this is just up my street.

I somehow missed this before. Amazon says currently not available but I hope that changes or that there's another source.

Just had a look myself. While it's currently unavailable from Amazon UK, it is available from third party sellers. However, the price is £999.11 so, unfortunately, it may have to wait a while.

Why did you make it unavailable just out of curiosity?

I had started writing work on a much more serious subject. Don't get me wrong, the Bond book I wrote is very serious analysis of 007. I just felt that I might not be taken serious as a writer on my other subjects if folks found-out that I'd also geeked-out on Bond! :-)

Ironically though, when I made it "unavailable", it didn't take it offline. I didn't realize until now that it could still be seen on Amazon!

Take it offline and the resellers demand
    extortion prices it seems.
I do like the irreverent tone of the synopsis.
Skyfall positively begs for such a treatment!
ie, a film rife with problems, yet so very pleased with itself. Arrghh.
