Wish they had used the Spectre/Blofeld rights to do remake TB/OHMSS/YOLT with Craig... could have used Monica as Dominetta, would have given her more to do, and would have been a more fitting start to Fiennes' tenure as M.
Sorry, just thinking about actresses' ages got me thinking about this.

The Craig did a great job with the literature of CR, imagine what they could've done with the Blofeld Trilogy...

I've never found her attractive; she often has a "heroin chic ", strung out,at times tom-boyish look. Bond can do better.

Sexism. Sorry, but can we also focus a bit on acting skills??

Sexism? Not in the least ; Daniel Craig's appearance , as well as the appearance of every actor who has played Bond or is being considered as a future Bond, has been discussed. It comes with territory.

Your accusation is off base, and inappropriate.

Yep, the Bond fandom is full of nitpicking prospective/actual Bond actors appearances. It certainly is relevant to playing Bond or a Bond Girl. There have been comments on her acting ability (or lack thereof) in the thread too.

Cara would make a good Mayday kind of character.

    Craig had CASINO ROYALE.

ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE really needs OO7 much later in his career, it's a similar story designed to recharge the character when he needs it. The story arc is better saved for another Bond actor, and not necessarily the next one.

I'm sure Cara will do fine in Valerian, but I just don't see her as Bond material unless she's a henchwoman. She doesn't seem to have much gravitas in the films I've seen her in too. Rather forgettable if I may say so.

Either way, if Craig returns I'd like a young actress opposite him for the next one. I'm not all that keen on these older women in the films (like what happened with Sir Rog in his later films) just to be age appropriate. As long as she's a good actress, I'm sure a younger woman could pull the role off. I suppose my comments could be considered somewhat ageist, and so be it.

I've seen her in a couple of things and find her performances adequate but not remarkable. On all counts they can find a stronger pick.

Biggest load of bollocks that I've read in a long time.

That article is quoting a GQ article from 2015, so hardly anything new.

Barbara: "It's like Hamlet, who has been played by a variety of different people, including women. So presumably Bond could be. But do I want to be making a Bond film without Daniel Craig? No, absolutely not! He's so integral to the whole process that I'm in denial about anyone else playing Bond. Genuinely."

Presumably he could be? But I'm absolutely not thinking about making a Bond with anyone other than Daniel. Hardly sounds like a glowing endorsement from Barbara for a female James Bond. She's deliberately mincing words here to make everyone happy. A nice way of saying, sure, a woman could be Bond, but no way in hell are we doing that.

Wilson is even more cut and dried on the matter: "Could Bond be played by a black person or a woman? Bond is a fictitious character who has now become part of the culture. So don't ask it about Bond, ask it about Sherlock Holmes or Superman or Batman. If you weren't married to your wife, who would you like to be married to?"

Neither of these producers are putting a woman into the role for as long as they live, and thank goodness for that.

So the next Bond film is roughly 15 - 16 months away?

Even on Quantum we had a director announced 17 months before the release, and that turned out on of the most rushed productions yet.

    @Mendes4Lyfe Sorry for going a little off topic here but;
Why was QOS a rushed production? The editing feels rushed (in style) and there was the problem with the writers strike, but overall the production wasn't necessarily rushed or am I forgetting something?

The production was rushed alright. They started filming it in December 2007 but production was halted for three months if I recall correctly due to quite a number of setbacks, just as they were reluctant to push the release date from May 2008 to October 2008. Definitely production on it was rushed. Much like Tomorrow Never Dies... only that one did it better.

It's amazing how they turned TND out - if I remember rightly they didn't start filming until April 1997? Although it would seem that it was a bit of a fraught production.

Indeed. TND had a troublesome production period. Even on set.

I think it goes without saying the Fleming novel adaptations have made the best films. Other than TMWTGG the films stay true to the words and concepts Fleming created. No Surprise that TMWTGG faced it's criticism at the time.

With the arguable exception of Goldeneye in Modern Bond terms, most stories have lacked real imagination, been over zealous and far fetched (invisible cars, Blofeld being Bonds brorther) or carried large plot holes.

The simple truth is you can not polish a turd. If you do not start with a solid written piece and a cast iron screen play then you don't have much of a chance of delivering a top film. This re-writing scripts during filming just leads to mass story holes and contradictions. I appreciate what Mendes tried to do on Skyfall and Spectre, however they were self indulgent. I find it entirely shocking that during production and even in to filming they decided to add further input from Jez Butterworth. Filming should not commence until you have a solid story and the dialog and balance is right. Martin Campbell is fortunate enough to have experienced both worlds, adapting Fleming and working with a Non Fleming script so it can be done. It is imperative EON stave off any Studio time pressure to rush to Production until the above is ready in order to get a solid film.

Well if this is correct Daniel Craig better start working on Purity soon otherwise I can't see him committing to five months on Purity and then straight into 6-7 months filming Bond 25. I can't see that happening. I reckon Craig would want a mammoth fee if he's going to be working for around a year! I hope EON/MGM can afford him! :P

Sorry to say it, but I think 2018 is out of the picture. We were supposed to have an answer regarding a distributor in Feb 2016. As of yet, still nothing. I think its safe to say they are being held up, so whether Craig is free and willing makes little difference. If you recall, Cubby and Dalton were both dear friends in the early 90's, much like Craig and Babs are today, but outside forces in both cases could prevent their partnership on Bond from continuing.

Ross King is a Scottish showbiz presenter. Used to present stuff on UK TV but he moved to Los Angeles. He does showbiz reports for ITV's breakfast shows. I have no idea if he's a reliable source but you never know!

Again nothing is impossible if MGM inked the deal with say WB who then throws a ton of money at EON demanding a film next fall to market yes it can be done. IF (and this is a huge if) Baz is to be believed Purvis and Wade have written at least a draft for bond 25 (based on their love of Fleming My guess is it's a modern day adaption of You only live twice which while many will complain about them but when they focus on adapting Fleming they usually do a good job and give a good screenplay) and if Craig is signed on and most of the principal cast return really the amount of people you need to cast for major parts is really only (again based on the YOLT assumption)

Tanaka (or whatever name they use for the film which I hope Daniel Dae Kim is up for the role and his calander is cleared up with him off Hawaii 5-0 I believe)
Kissy (or whatever name they use for the film we could just have a 5-0 reunion with Grace Parks who is beautiful Asian decent and can do the action)
Irma Bunt (which lets be honest they could bring back the german actress from spectre if push came to shove or bring in someone like Helen Mirren)

And that's about it Blofeld M Q Moneypenny and Swann are all cast and even if Lea is busy much like the book we could just start of with Bond being depressed of Swann's death and not have to show it (though they could just use a stunt woman who looks like lea and stick it in the pts)

Director might be an issue but there are a number of workman like directors (heck even Ralph Fiennes who plays M is a competent director) that they could get one of them nailed down before the required January start date (or if they want to get artsy there are even a few of them who have had more then a few flops who could use Bond do boost their career none come to mind of course but I am sure Doubleego could list half a dozen)

again is November 2018 impossible no is it likely no.

If I were Barbara Broccoli, I'd spread tons of silly rumours around, like

"George Lazenby in talks to return as James Bond"
"Justin Bieber cast as young Bond"
"Bond 25 will have title song performed by Westboro Baptist Church choir"
"Next Bond film will have 007 drink Red Bull instead of Vodka Martini"
"Bond producers in talks with Disney about 007-Avengers crossover"

and then drop a line in the actual Bond film: "Unlike the Internet crowd we prefer to actually think before we believe something."

Arguing about '2018 is out of the picture' is completely ridiculous and is a waste of time based on what we heard about Bond 25.

I think George Lazenby is in fact playing Bond's father.
