Tom Hardy as Bane was just incredible, IMO.
@Gustav_Graves, CHECK and MATE! :))
The word "better" is so slimy in these kinds of discussions, as it signals an inevitable end where one party is deemed king and the other just "meh." I have massive knowledge about both Bond and Batman-they are two characters upon which my world revolves around, along with Sherlock Holmes-which only serves to show me how futile these kinds of discussions are. It's just going to spark more mind-numbing comparisons between two phenomenally constructed series of films that don't deserve to be treated like a boxing bout where only one can come out on top; that completely isolates the great things about one of those entities.
I'd contribute to such a thread if its purpose was to analyze similarities and differences between the films and how the directors and other members of the creative teams told things in Bruce and Bond's origins and other parts of the hero narrative/quest, but that's not what this is after, I think. Here we're just handing out gold stars to one and telling the other to head to the corner and turn its back.
And if I have to hear another person say Mendes is a hack who can't do anything as a director but copy Nolan, I will scream until my lungs implode upon themselves.
I loved "Batman Begins" as much as I enjoyed CR. TDK like Empire Strikes Back is considerable darker and rather depressing. It is still an achievement in film making and story telling. I also liked the final film, TDKR. I see this one gets some dishing as being the weakest of the three but I disagree. I found it to be very good and refreshing. Not nearly as dark or scary as the previous film.
QoS ranks low on the Craigameter. I just find so little to like about this film. The ending?
EON knocked it out of the park with the final two films, SF and SP
So for me (and only me) I REFUSE TO CHOOSE I LOVED BOTH THE TRILOGY AND THE QUADRILOGY.
I would say Sean is the Adam West of Bond
Only in DAF.
Roger all the way for me.
:))
Seriously though, I'm just a grammar nazi. Don't mind me. :)>-
And who's Clooney? :D
Adam West is better compared to Roger Moore.
Moore obviously.
And I loved Begins and The Dark Knight.
I'm glad I'm not the only one knowing this.
The proper term is of course tetralogy.
Same for me except it's CR and QoS I'm not as keen on. Really enjoyed SF and loved SP but I enjoyed all three of Nolan's Batman films so 3-2 to Batman.
No:
From a cinematic perspective, 'quadrilogy' is used more often than 'tetralogy'. The latter mostly used for literature.
CR would be close behind and SF not much behind that, QOS I don't think is as good as BB though but I do rate it highly in the Bond series.
TDKR is not my favourite film and easily the worst of Nolan's Bat trilogy but I am hugely impressed how Nolan weaves all these films together, his ability to tie everything together is far more impressive than what has been done with the DC era.
If it wasn't for SP the DC era would be much more satisfying for me so I have to vote for Nolan's Bat trilogy.
I couldn't care less about the previous Bat films although I quite like Batman Returns.
