PussyNoMore is hoping for OHMSS purely because he can’t wait to see what Dalton will do with her visuals.
This lady is such a genius. It would be great if some of these iconic images were offered for sale as prints.
The Pussy would find the wall space.
Since they've already delivered FRWL The double hit of OHMSS and YOLT is what I'm waiting for now. Really looking forward to seeing Dalton's Blofeld interpretation and the Japanese castle, garden of death.
Absolutely. Although YOLT is not The Pussy’s favourite Bond, it will make for a visual smorgasbord.
Strangely enough PussyNoMore is also much excited by the prospect of TMWTGG which also offers amazing visual opportunities. How she will visualise Scaramanga, the gun, the train etc..
is really something he is looking forward to.
PussyNoMore is going to contact Folio and see if he can’t get them to sell prints of selected visuals. The best one (as ordained by The Pussy) from each novel would be fine.
We are fortunate to have the two best Bond artists since Chopping working at the moment - Gerry Wadsworth and Fay Dalton.
They are good. Particularly ‘Role Of Honour’ which coincidentally was one of Gardner’s best books.
That said, good as they are , he was following in Chopping’s footsteps with the ‘trumpe-l’oeil’ style and they somehow lack the originality of Wadsworth and Dalton.
PussyNoMore does however salute Dragonpol’s tenacity in trying to promote Gardner at every verse and turn !
I got mine April 14th! Dr. No was my first choice, too! It's gorgeous!
It sure is, couldn't be happier with it! I'm about halfway through it atm and still have 3 or 4 illustrations to look forward to.
Do you plan on buying anymore of them? I've got my eye on Goldfinger next..
I have...I think 9 copies of Casino Royale! A couple of friends gave me different Pan editions they'd picked up, and then I found one with Craig on the cover to add to my collection of movie tie-in covers...and then it reached a tipping point of "OK, let's see how many different editions I can collect".
I may need help.
I remember that one, that was the first Bond/Fleming novel i ever read. Thats where it all started for me.
Was a genious move by IFP to release the original book with the movie cover.
I also must have around 4-5 different versions of CR by now but the Folio Edition is superior to all of them.
PussyNoMore is firmly of the opinion that it is not possible to have too many editions of Casino Royale and would like to reassure Agent_99 that to have an unslakable thirst for multiple editions is not only completely normal, it is a sign of a high intellect!
His own particular favourite is his Bentley edition. A knee crushing tome if ever there was one but with its mulliner leather cover and grill metal spine it is not suited to travel.
For voyage he prefers his Easton Press leather bound edition and for regular bed time reading it has to be the Folio.
So, go ahead and invest. There are multiple ways of getting to Royal-Les-Eaux !
Yes, I quite like John Gardner, but I mean, what would I know about the literary Bond continuation? I deign to the vastly superior knowledge and indeed taste of others here collected.
Sad but true. PussyNoMore is distressed !
I am very confident we'll get our next Bond book then, as they are showing the Books from the front in the preview image. I noticed that the Fleming editions are literally the only Books in the Folio catalogue that have a orange binding and tail Band, so if they showed the Books from the side you could immediately pick them out.
Last time when they didn't had a Fleming novel in their collection, the preview image was from the side :)
Your @00Holmes,
Damn, that's a shame. Feels like a good while since the last one was unveiled. I'm still eyeballing these, want to pick at least one of them up eventually.
If they're unveiling a new one around Christmas, I might take the smart route that you do to save me a couple of bucks and just buy two as a Christmas gift for myself to help save on shipping. I like the way you think.
The illustrations in this one are just superb. Bond grabbing Gala underwater and the car chase might be my favourites.
What a great mum!
Hints were dropped :) Check out the wrapping-paper, too!
She's a keeper!
