I like the bulk of your list, but it is distressing to see all of those wonderful '70s Bond films (along with YOLT) relegated to the rear.

I love them all @Birdleson but I love the others more. I actually give every film from #17 to #23 an 8 out of 10. SP on the other hand...

I am glad to see Spectre at the bottom of your list! I also dislike Spectre a great deal. I hope Bond 25 doesn't continue with anything Spectre attempted to do with the series. I'm also glad to see GoldenEye at the Number 1 slot! It's my favorite Bond movie as well.

Why does almost everybody hate Spectre so much?
Okay, it isn't a perfect film; Waltz is not good and story about foster-brothers is weak. But aside from that I absolutely love it.

Spectre is in my opinion a joy ride, has great pacing, love the PTS, Rome scenes and love Daniel's swagger. To be honest, Skyfall is the better film, but Spectre is much more fun to watch. I love it.

The PTS is good from the opening on the skull to the building explosion. The spectre meeting was good, but the rest of the action was dull made worse by the awful score

I have to agree. I don't understand why so many hate it as much as they do. I've seen quite a few rank it at the very bottom of their list and that's just crazy. I'm not saying it has to be in the top 10 or anything, I'm not sure if it's even in my top 10. But last? Damn.

I think a lot of Bond fans want Bond films to be something they've never, ever been: gritty, po-faced espionage thrillers.

Edit: not referring to any individuals above though, honest!

The main reasons why I rank SP last:
.The stupid retcon of having Blofeld being behind CR, QOS, and SF. It cheapens those films.
.The yellow filter that sucks all the life out of the locations.
.The score is mostly reused from SF. Not a good thing.
.Apart from the excellent train fight, the action is unbelievably dull and unexciting.
.The Oberhauser connection is just stupid.
.Madeleine Swann is a boring character.
    .There is too much CGI.
    .Some truly awful dialogue.
.C and the whole Nine Eyes plot is just not interesting.
    .The London finale is lame.

However, there are some good things:
    .Good settings with some variety.
.I enjoy the banter with Q.
    .I love the Rome scenes.
.Hinx is a beast. Love the train fight.
.Waltz is underused but he's solid.

Unfortunately, I lump SP in with CR'67 and NSNA as an unofficial film. In my eyes, the most recent EON film is SF.

I’d put it like this: Blofeld in drag is less of a travesty than Fostergate.

Also I think Craig’s performance is the worst of all 25 Bond films including mich maligned swansongs like NSNA, AVTAK and DAD.

    All gritty spy thrillers.
    That’s the bond I like.

Those are good choices. The edgiest, most stripped-back Bonds. DN is like those ones too.

Those are great movies, all. But FRWL is a ridiculous movie. Britain blowing up a Soviet consulate in Istanbul has nothing to do with real life. SPECTRE island is silly. All of Rosa Klebb's interactions with other people are utterly cartoonish. And it is great. But gritty it is not.

Nor is the movie where the man with metal hands fights Bond on a platform slowly descending into nuclear material.

CR and QOS are slightly grittier, I guess, suggesting that the series took a turn 44 years in, but if we're being serious, none of those first 20 movies are gritty, and few contain any spying at all....

I don’t think Dr. no and FRWL are cartoonish. Larger than life sure but cartoonish is GF because it’s fantasy. The first two Connerys and the books in general are gritty and spy centered. That’s why I like the direction the franchise was going in with CR and QOS and why ultimately skyfall was a let down for me. Campy jokey cartoonish Bond is good too don’t get me wrong, however I think the time we are in now, 2018 or 2020 or whatever isn’t the time for cartoonish Bond

Been a while since I have done this:

    1. Casino Royale
    2. Thunderball
    3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    4. Skyfall
    5. The Spy Who Loved Me
    6. License To Kill
    7. From Russia With Love
    8. For Your Eyes Only
    9. The Living Daylights
    10. Live and Let Die
    11. The World Is Not Enough
    12. Goldfinger
    13. Goldeneye
    14. Diamonds Are Forever
    15. The Man With The Golden Gun
    16. Spectre
    17. Dr. No
    18. Octopussy
    19. Quantum Of Solace
    20. Moonraker
    21. You Only Live Twice
    22. A View To A Kill
    23. Tomorrow Never Dies
    24. Die Another Day

Outside of my relatively high placement of TWINE and relatively low placement of DN - nothing TOO far out of the general consensus here.

I'd say 8-11 and 13-16 are almost completely interchangeable.

It boggles my mind that there are humans that exist that do not absolutely love Thunderball. What is wrong with humanity?

Minus DAD and TND after the driver-less car chase, I genuinely enjoy watching all of the films and I don't think I have too much preferred Bond-actor bias going on.

Those 3 placements are pretty unusual. DN is excellent.

Thunderball is not terribly interesting as a whole, but it has the funniest script in the whole series:
"I know a little about women"
    "Bond James Bond who only..."
"Wait til you get to my teeth"
    "Sounds terribly difficult"
"Mind if my friend sits this one out..."
    "See you later, irrigator"
    etc

Deliberately unfair ranking in which I add the still in development B25 to the list. Based on what little we know, and my enthusiasm for the rumors, I'm hoping it eventually climbs up the ladder.
