She never appealed to me, to be honest.

Likewise until I saw Red Sparrow. She was amazing in that.

I think Danny Boyle is a good choice because he, ironically enough for a 60 year old, injects new blood into the franchise. More importantly it brings John Hodge into the mix. A quality screenwriter whose films don't have many bloated run times or unnecessary elements. He's also a skilled and experienced adaptor of novels which will aid him integrating any strands from Craig's previous narratives into Bond 25. I think the only thing with Boyle is that he's not displayed much desire to incorporate memorable or complicated action sequences into his films. However he has done some good suspense work in thrillers.

Boyle won't be appreciated for his true genius until he is gone. His range is incredible, crosses Genres with ease. He can take a mundane concept like being trapped under a rock and make it an incredible and thought provoking 2 hour film. He will go down in history as a great of Cinema up there with Kubric and Hitchcock. I am delighted he is doing this. Instant classic coming up.

I will give Boyle a fair chance look if he delivers a brilliant film then I will sing his praises if he delivers garbage no matter how prestigious he is I will say so.

Sorry Mendes films are in the teens for me but Marc forester film is number 2 for me.

Martin Campbell of course is number 1 for me with Casino Royale but I digress

Agreed. Actually it was mother!, which she was also excellent in, which made me think of her for the new Tarantino flick. Something about her appearance and character in that film led me to Tate for some reason.

The Guardian is reporting that Centre Point is being considered as a possible location.

Discussions are also believed to be under way with the director and producers of the 25th James Bond film about including the building in the film, which will be released next year. Suggested scenarios are understood to include having Bond land on the roof via parachute or helicopter.

If true, this would seem to suggest that London features reasonably heavily in the film (or at least more so than just the initial briefing scene). Perhaps unexpected given the possible patriotic element that I expect here, but nevertheless disappointing from my perspective.

I don't think this is at all indicative of London's screen time, tbh.

    Let's hope so.

EDIT: Hopefully it relates to a PTS, like TWINE.

BTW: Has Boyle done many films which have scenes in multiple locations, or does he tend to stay put in one locale? I think it's the latter, no? Of course that's no indication of what will transpire with B25, but I'm just curious.

Interesting. I didn't know anything about a building called Center Point, then a fee months ago I read Oliver Harris' detective novel deep shelter, which is marvellous btw, and now this.

Centre Point was converted to 82 residential apartments a couple of years ago. I used to visit the bar on the ground floor a few times. Can't think why Bond would need to parachute there when it's easily accessible by foot and by elevator?

Yes, here's hoping London plays into Bond 25 in the same or less capacity it did in TWINE.

let's hope B25 bears absolutely no comparison to TWINE on any level, unlike SF and to a lesser extent SP which are practically homages to the worst film in the series

I agree but if London is set to feature longer than the obligatory mission briefing, the length of London's inclusion as utilised in TWINE is what I'm happy to settle for.

Homage to TWINE? What madness. Only if Boyle has a sick sense of humour.

Precisely. This is indeed the point. London has been somewhat overused as of late, and I'd also prefer if they dial it back in the next one, and take us someplace exotic for the duration of the film.

I pose the question again: Are Boyle's films usually set in one locale? I think they are but would like some confirmation. Hopefully we are in store for an immersive local experience, like in the earlier Bond films.

I used to work right next to centre point in the early 2000s. Curious location to want to base a Bond set piece around though. Really hope they don't have too much of London in Bond 25. That'll make three in a row.

Martin Cambell is #1 for me as well, GoldenEye and Casino Royale are classics which saved the franchise.

I hope that he can direct Bond 26 with a new actor and "save" the Bond once more.

Are you serious? The great Christopher Nolan is ready to write AND direct Bond 26, and you want Martin Campbell back??

Campbell has proven his worth for the 007 franchise and Nolan isjust a wet dream for some. ;)

Exactly, I would even go that far and say that Denis Villeneuve would probably make a better Bond than Nolan.

The only Nolan films I like are BB and TDK. The only reason I like TDK is because of the Joker. If it weren't for him, it'd be a very dull film. Not unlike Inception, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. Sorry to be a hater on Nolan but it's just my opinion.

I love Nolan's work he is a great technical director, I think he would come up with some great old school set pieces in a Bond film., Nolan knows how to create great tension. I think Nolan is like marmite, though I think he is probably the best contemporary director, there echoes of Kubrick in Nolan's work which I like.

Villeneuve would be a box office & mainstream nightmare. No thank you. He is not right for bond at all.

I think a Nolan Bond could go either way. We may just find out once the next actor is chosen.

I've always found his films highly compelling. He hasn't disappointed me yet.

Is he right for Bond? That I'm not entirely sure about, but know he's smart enough, visionary enough, and respectful enough of the franchise to do it justice should he get his hands on it. I have seen enough in his other entries to know that he could pull it off and give us something to remember should he get the gig.

My only concern with him is that it would be very difficult to move forward after he does one, due to the power of his box office and brand pull. For that reason alone I may not want him to do one.

You make a good point regarding post Nolan, I think in a way he has set the bar incredibly high for Batman for example and expectations can potentially damage what follows. Though Bond can get away with weaker movies (assuming a weaker film followed a Nolan Bond) and always has a resurgence as historically proven.

The main issue with Nolan is he is not a director for hire and Eon would likely have to give him full reign on whatever his vision would be hyperthethically speaking. Nolan is clearly a fan there are many nods to Bond in his films,
