    Corgi is underusing their license that they have for the Bond franchise. Hot Wheels currently have some sort of license to do Bond vehicles as well but they too aren't doing much with it. They have made various ones in 1/64 scale but pretty limited and not much in variety. As for 1/18 they've only done the DB5 and DB10. I really want them to do all the others such as the BMW's from the Brosnan era and the Aston Martin from TLD.

    Corgi/Airfix had a stand at the airshow I visited over the weekend, so I went in and asked when the TLD Aston might be released (as I preordered it months ago).

    It turned out I was talking to the guy who designed it! He told me it'll be out in late August and it's a much improved model: more accurate fog lights and number plate, painted outriggers.

    I was preordering as a present for a friend, since I have the earlier model, but maybe I'll keep it...

    Here is my 1/18 Goldfinger Aston Martin DB5 from RC2. Had it in my collection for over 13 years now I believe. It has aged nicely over the years on display.

    Pretty impressed that it has all the gadgets within the car. And I've only just found out that it even has the oil slick feature behind the rear light cluster!

    It sure is!

    I just bought the Hot Wheels Elite 1/18 DB5. Awaiting it's arrival. I wonder if it'll be just as good as the one from RC2. Will probably do a comparison once I've received it.

    That’s interesting. I might get one if the wheels are improved. The old one just had basic corgi toy wheels.

    They’ve been using that image for months, maybe as a mock-up. I guess we’ll see what the actual car looks like in the next few weeks.

    Just got the Hot Wheels Elite 1/18 Aston Martin DB5! Very impressed by it. It looks better than the one from Ertl and with sharper details for both the interior and exterior. All the usual refinements as well since this is the Elite model... Ejector seat, machine guns, revolving front and rear license plates etc.

    I collected all of James Bond Aston Martin over the years from Corgi including his other 007 mobile & cars he drove. His Bond 25 car His new Valhalla which I not I won't buy that in model diecast car. But the pleasing Classic Aston Martin DB5 & V8 Vantage I will get in model car.

    Tehy even made a model of Bessie (with the Fourth Doctor, even if he only drove it once (IIRC) in the seventies. Funny that.

    Here's the catalogue for 1967. As you can see, from one car from one franchise, Corgi certainly expanded. It was in those catalogues that I learned about TV series it would take me decades to watch, due to the fact that they didn't air in France (except maybe in regions that were near a country that aired them) :
