@jake24, Boyle has this certain directorial style that makes films his own. Something I would hate for the Bond films to be. I've only seen True Detective of Fukunaga's works and I'm far less worried regarding the subject. I'm assured we won't be getting any traditional Bond film with Fukunaga, but I would guess it'd be something akin to QoS which I love, but far more competent than the confusion the latter was left in. At least that's how I see it.
Pretty much how I see it. We won't be getting something traditional, but something undeniably unique (hopefully in a good way).

I’m hoping Hodge/Boyle bring Fleming and actual story into the script rather than P&Ws cliche generic screenplay writing... I’m sure Fukunaga will have his hand and new writer too though. He’s strong on story and character development so in good hands there.

As far as title songs go, Fukunaga capped his 6 min tracking shot in True Detective with this:

Sweet. Maybe he can get Nick Cave for the song?

I think Newman needs to stay away from Bond. I'd welcome a new composer.
I remember reading that Barbara or just "EON" had to push Newman to even include the theme song in that lovely scene where Bond arrives at the casino by boat. It was an issue for sure.

New composer, sure. But I also don't mind Arnold. In general, I am just much more relaxed with Fukunaga at the helm, because I love his visual storytelling and he is a writer. I like Boyle, but I did not feel nearly as excited or could even safely visualize what he might bring.

Really, @Torgeirtrap? That´s amazing, I didn´t know that! Who knows if Jimmy remembers, IINM he played on more or less every record in a certain period.
Anyhow, I´m sure a nice cheque would bring them all together for one Teeny-Tiny song ;-).

But I´d settle for AM too.

Yeah, I think he played guitar on the track. Both Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were doing session work by that time. JPJ worked with the Rolling Stones on a few songs, I think.

A nice cheque might bring Zep together for one song; the only thing though, is that it might cost as much as whatever Craig gets for doing Bond 25! :))
Still, four for the Price of one ;-). And since Bonham junior replaces his dad, he won´t take as much, so the Price should go down a bit….

I found the rising sun (rising son) Chinees and Japanese element of QOS always very intresting.

If directer stil feels him self Japanese iam curious or we finaly contuned more QOS elements.

Just to think that if it wasn't for the whole Boyle mess we would be two months away from bond 25 beginning filming but I am so glad we have fukunaga and after watching true detective season one and maniac I am more hopeful about bond 25's outcome
Yup. The Boyle debacle was a blessing in disguise.

I will wait till I see it before I decide but I am more excited especially if the mystery element (which is prevelant in my favorite bond films From Russia With Love Casino Royale Quantum Of Solace The Living Daylights For Your Eyes Only etc)

To be fair I knew Boyle would never work out as in 2014 he said himself he loves watching those movies but can’t make them and suddenly in 2018 that changes... right

I see a common thread in the directors that they have had under consideration for this film over the past couple of years. They all have a visual daring and tend to create visceral films with focus on character - films which connect on some raw level, and which have a certain immediacy to them. There is also an almost 'psychedelic' (for lack of a better word) element to some (but not all) of their work, at least in terms of their impact on the viewer.

I'm curious to see if these attributes and elements make it into B25. If nothing else I suspect, like you both, that it will be a somewhat avant-garde film.

    Bond25 news!!

Could Lotis still be in play? Is Aston providing a vehicle that is not an automobile?

That's a good point. But it's only based on the 2 or 3 last directors, who all have had very visually impacting styles. I would also weigh in the element of chance. DC had worked under Sam Mendes and shortly Danny Boyle, and in both cases this led to them being offered the job. But overall: Yes, visual daring and visceral style is an appropriate characterisation. Also for Marc Forster's films.

Bond can never be separated from Aston Martin perhaps it will be a different vehicle this time.

My thoughts exactly! I noticed he didn't mention that it would be a car. How about their luxury boat or that new flying vehicle thing?

They need to mix up the cars a bit. always having an Aston is a bit dull.

The Toyota in YOLT was cool

    A bike perhaps :-)?

I agree with @Getafix, they should mix up the cars a bit for variety´s sake.

It really was! They don't make cars that look as great as that one anymore:

"I can confirm that Aston Martin will be collaborating in the next chapter of Bond. Read from that what you will."

It is clear that Lotus do not stand a chance to break the ties between the Bond franchise and Aston Martin. AM's comments a few days ago were very confident in that matter.

But the interviewee cautioned her, we cannot read from this that there will be an AM in Bond 25, or even a car in a major role. What could that next chapter be? AM has the limited series Goldfinger DB5 series as one chapter, and the air taxi Volante Vision as another.

The Volante Vision is still only a concept, but they should be able to build a flying prototype within a year. I hate to speculate, but I hope the days of flying/diving/invisible cars are over.

The Aston Martin boat is pretty sick. Wouldn't mind an appearance from that.

It is quite luxurious looking. As soon as I saw it I felt it oozed Bond.

    So many possibilities.

-The era of the invisible/stealth vehicle should say buried, indeed. But the era of the flying vehicle (stay with me) might not be as far fetched as it seems, if it were executed with a sense of—to borrow from Dick Donner—'verisimilitude'.

-For example: I'm picturing a modern take on the Thunderball opening that essentially treats the vehicle the way that film treats the jetpack. Bond's trying to escape something, appears hemmed in with his Aston, only to reveal it's loaded with drone-inspired capabilities that give it the brief ability to convert and "fly" out of the scenario.

-To be clear, I'm thinking of something like a quick jump over a wall, before it speeds away down the road. (vs. a Tamahori-type take, in which it would presumably fold out like a DeLorean and zoom away in a crack of neon-infused lightning).

-Current indications would suggest that's not tonally the type of film we're getting with Bond 25, though, so all of this is probably very unlikely.

-Another area to consider: autonomous vehicles. Maybe it's as simple as a new Astonomous Martin ( ;) ) that can drive itself, freeing up both Bond's hands for more...pressing matters. Lethal or otherwise.

I just hope we get a decent none belly-button staring story story that resembles a thriller at least, and if they can fit in amazing cars or whatnot I am fine with it. The 20 million car chase in Rome was such a waste of money and viewing-time the fellas who used to make a great British car-show would have made it more exciting and less expensive.

The new director is a former professional snowboarder... you have to assume he understands the difference between visceral excitement in a chase and just passive spectacle.

One of the biggest let downs for me in SPECTRE was the car chase sequence. So much wasted potential.

Mabey a car chase where Bond is not driving, but for example Camile, followd by the local Police, CIA and/or Army. Bullit but then in Croatia, Marocco or Germany.

    Or Bike again

Talking about action scene, mabey something like this, but les violence..

No car chase will top that one, IMO. That car chase is just as much about the three minute prelude as the chase itself; can't see them doing that with Bond.

Hoping for some kind of good Bond 25 news tomorrow for Global James Bond Day, but I doubt it will happen. Seems too early.

Yes. Some James Bond coffee cups and towels, and more!
