As I said before, maybe a hint of Devil May Care influence?

Mmmm.... I hope the female agent isn't a protege tbh. But we'll see what they do.

I'm very interested in seeing Bond with other 00 agents. I feel like this has always been superficially explored in previous films.

Once again, just speculating: to have Bond mentoring someone is a way of him having a child-- metaphorically speaking.

And what destroys a parent? Taking away their child.

Also a murder investigation that leads to a bigger plot, a la DN, would be a way of upping stakes through story rather than pure action, keeping the budget a little tighter (and CF certainly knows how to draw out suspense in an interesting and visually stunning way).

When will people realize that the whole protege thing was a completely baseless rumor fabricated by someone who admitted to being a troll?

Thanks @jake24 !! Ruin all the fun! Back to the drawing board! Okay what if B25 opens with Bond and Maddy enjoying a lovely Sunday drive.

Another car speeds past them. Gunfire!

Catching sight of the driver of the other car, Bond exclaims, "It's Brofeld! It's Brofeld!"

He turns to Maddy, but, sadly, she's taken a bullet to the head.

A motor-cop rides up beside them...

(I joke, Jake. I couldn't remember where the protege angle came from and actually thought it may have come from Boyle's golden idea. I thought I had seen this same thing posted in more "prestigious" media, than reddit).

I definitely like the idea of something that begins as limited assignment that exposes something much more insidious, with broader , devastating implications.

I would have went with "OF COURSE! BROFELD!!" But that still works.

Yes, @RichardTheBruce , I think you're onto something. Feels more organic. I'd like to re-edit your re-write into my original script.

    Isn't that every Bond movie?

isn't that the point of story-telling that makes it archetypal, @FrankXavier ? The story has an "inciting incident" and then escalates as the story goes on?

I wonder if Fleming would even remotely recognize the current Scooby Gang as the characters he created for Bond's MI6 office team?

It's probably best not to bring in what Fleming would think. That's a can of worms, given how far EON took 007 with Moore.

In this Trump led world we live in we need Bond more than ever to give us hope against the megalomaniacs of this world. Also so glad Kevin Spacey was never involved in a Bond film with hindsight.
You see him as a megalomaniac, I see him as a man doing what needs to be done. You don't see me bitching about the Obama Administration and how his awful policies brought the entire globe to its knees a lot of delusional masses paved the way in for the real threats to penetrate and execute their plans. Should I elect Obama as an evil megalomaniac being an insider?

Thought so. Now, keep your politics out of Bond as well as this thread just like the rest of us are doing, and go get a life.

Whatever. Politics are real and affects the world. Newsflash, Bond is make believe! Doesn't really matter. PS I have a very nice and enjoyable life thanks with my beautiful wife.

Bond is make believe, but so is the nature of your reply, as well as the rulebook of this thread to you. Next.

You've been asked very nicely to leave politics and any other subject besides the discussion of Bond 25 out of this thread.
    Let it go. Please.

Back on topic again, I would be happy with Tuppence in a role. Really liked her in the first 2 seasons of Sense8 and Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams episode 'The Commuter'!
  • Fyi, this guy has admitted his source is a drunk friend at the pub:

Personally, I still reckon that it’s true. I k ow people within film circles in London and the community is close knit and gossipy.

The big question though is how big a role that Middleton will have. She could be minimal.

Well, naturally. In this age of facebook and twitter everything, people have forgotten to think for themselves, which explains why those desperate for news about an upcoming Bond film grab on to everything, including whatever gets posted by whomever on some random social medium. It's the equivalent of looking for a full meal in a candy machine.

I actually think a plastered friend is more reliable than some other “sources” ;)

Spectre was the last Bond film released with all previous Bond actors still alive.

Perhaps Middleton is a remnant of the Boyle casting choices, and has only leaked out now for whatever reason.

She'd be good in my opinion.

If I were to guess, I'd say we will get a visible minority for a substantial role in this film. Which role, I can't say. Asian, most likely.

It be a smart commercial decision - especially with China being such a big market these days.

I thought Fukunaga would have cast Sonoya Mizuno as the MI6 agent. She seems a much better fit

    Sonoya-Mizuno.jpg

She was in his Netflix show and looks to be a rising star. A bit of a missed opportunity perhaps. It’s only a matter of time before Marvel, Star Wars or one of the other big franchises grabs her.

Indeed, and this series has underperformed over the past decade in the fast growing Asian (and frankly also US) markets in comparison to how it has done in the European markets. It's a bit cynical, but I can see them being pressured to do it for commercial reasons. Having said that, as SW-TLJ showed, blatant pandering won't work if the cast member fails to impress.

I remember her from that show. Not bad.

I think Crystal Reed would fill the protege role nicely. She evokes the 60's look nicely, particuraly the women of Thunderball.

How would you react if a re-imagined version of J.W. Pepper appeared in Bond 25?
