Is it likely we will ever see the Boyle/Hodge script?

I reckon there will be an updated edition of Some Kind of Hero that'll talk about what the script entailed.

What occurred to me was that we know a major reason for Boyle leaving was due to Eon wanting to bring on another writer. What if this writer was Haggis? He might have been hired to do a re-write/polish after Boyle's departure, then turned in the draft some time after Fukunaga was hired.

    It's a very curious situation.

I imagine the timeline went something like this:

♢ In August 2018, Eon want to hire a new writer to work on John Hodge's script (which is using aspects of P&W's original draft). Danny Boyle balks at the idea and quits the film.
♢ At such a point, Eon hire P&W to continue their own draft. This script is an entirely new film using both the Hodge draft and their original idea.
♢ I assume, that whilst P&W are working on their script, Paul Haggis is contacted to consult on the script and work on character development. During this period Eon are meeting with directors.
♢ Cary Fukunaga is hired and given the P&W script with Haggis's revisions. Evidently, the decision is made to let Haggis continue making changes and he hands in his revisions on 22 November 2018.
♢ Fukunaga continues making revisions and additions as the film enters pre-production. He is the lead writer.

I'm pretty certain and P&W and Fukunaga are working on the script full-time. Paul Haggis is essentially a 'gun for hire' - someone Eon trust to problemshoot and help finesse. Effectively, he is a consultant. I don't even think he gets a credit, which I think will be:

Screenplay by Cary Fukunaga and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade
Story by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade and John Hodge
This does seem like the most likely scenario.

With knowledge of QOS and Spectre i think what Paul Haggis told about later in video about action and dialogue and car/watch example are very intresting too. Partly stil i don't understand what he saying about CR, what i understand thanks to QOS and Spectre. And i hope he will use that misunderstanding from both sides for Bond 25 if true. Till a whyle a go iam in less part of group of people who see Bond playing a game and i hoped with Bond 24 he exploded, will he in Bond 25.

I always found the mirror and inside and outside hints very intresting. But OHMSS is my favorite Blofeld. On this moment i only having the wish to have two final Bond movies where Bond must deal with his depression alone (a reasen to see him gamble, smoking and having to much sex.) and need help of Felix/Cia and mi6 to stop Quantum/Spectre started there real story behind DC era.

I wil be disapointed if with a directer who is fan of AVTAK can't go to next level of Zorin type i see in Oberhauser, but also see in Drax, Gustav Graves, Eliot Carver and Dominic Green.

Has anybody heard what John Glen said about the appointment of Cary Fukunaga?

Paul Haggis has reportedly contributed to the B25 script:

    https://thegww.com/exclusive-paul-haggis-has-contributed-to-the-bond-25-script/

I'm surprised. I thought that his sexual harassment accusations would be the end of his career.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.hollywoodreporter.com/amp/news/four-women-accuse-paul-haggis-sexual-misconduct-including-two-rapes-1072015
It does surprise me that Eon would want to associate themselves with Haggis given his allegations. But from a creative standpoint I'm thrilled to know he's on board.

That's because the accusations were a Scientology smear.

Disgusting, both to Paul Haggis and to the victims of sexual assaults. It's never good to cry wolf, it's worse to do it with malicious intent.

I'm really glad he's back on board, if it's true.

Did he "Americanize" Jane Eyre ? No. His nationality is of no consequence.

In hindsight, think about what a Raiders of the Lost Ark era Spielberg could have done with Bond.

I suppose Glen is as curious as the rest of us regarding what kind of Bond film we're going to get next year. It certainly was unexpected, but they were up against it time wise, had constraints, and had to make a decision. Hopefully he'll be pleased with the end result.

This is coming from the man who made AVTAK and LTK? Both set heavily in the USA with predominantly staring American casts? Please.

If we get a script like CR for Bond 25? I will be extremely happy!

True, as much as I like LTK, it does have a very strong "Miami Vice" vibe to it.

I think that was the point. That and budget cuts.

This threads included "the great" Chris Nolan and "the great" Danny Boyle, when did they redifine "great"?

    Interesting development, if true.

Paul Haggis is a tried and tested writer of real quality. I do, however, hesitate to give him too much credit for CR. He just had to put some more meat on the bone of an already excellent Fleming story.

I wonder if Bond fans have previously researched whether there is a correlation (negative or positive) between the quality of the script and number of contributors. My gut reaction is that a good script is the vision of one writer rather than a big team effort. (much like song writing)

Don't forget "the great" Cary Fukunaga, which was also mentioned. I'm going to wait for his Bond film before ascribing such adjectives to him.

Wasn't he the one who had Bond with a baby for QOS? Seriously, anyone remember that?

I think it's best when Haggis is polishing a Pervis & Wade script than have Haggis in charge of the entire thing.

"A director of great potential" would be more fitting.

Remember when a couple of pages ago I predicted that in Bond 25 either Bond will have a child or Medaleine will be pregnant at the end of the film? Maybe it really is time to prepare for Bond becoming a father folks! :))

Yep, Paul Haggis initially wrote a draft of QOS that had Bond discover that Vesper had a child that was kidnapped by the organisation:

    https://gawker.com/5075358/how-007-barely-avoided-a-paul-haggis-sired-bond-baby

Of course, Bond isn't the father of the kid - but Eon were against the idea of Bond trying to find the child only to abandon it. However, those who know their Fleming novels, will remember that in YOLT Bond fathers a child before leaving Japan. The mother doesn't get enough time to tell him.

The idea of Bond having a child isn't too scandalous. I agree that Madeline may have had a child by the time Bond 25 starts.

I wonder if EON is hiding his name from writing credits do to the allegations it seems very risky if true @jake24

Haggis the writer is almost as bad as Haggis the dish. An hamhanded middlebrow screenwriter whose contributions to CR consisted of shoving in on-the-nose dialogue and the silly sinking-house climax. He was also the genius who wanted QoS to be about Bond finding the son he had with Vesper. I sincerely hope the rumor of his return is not true.
