I had missed the car chase/base jumping bit when that news first surfaced. I wonder what the likelihood is of those sequences still being in the script, over a year later. A lot has happened since...

Same. I can see people disliking the lyrics for being too sappy or Smith's falsetto, but the instrumental is beautiful and very Bondian.

Wouldn't be the first time that they have forced in an already planned element into a plot.

Maybe they've gone back to Wade and Purvis' original draft before Boyle's involvement? That would also explain Seydoux's almost immediate hiring :)

Nowhere in the article did they mention that this was going to happen though. The translated quote:

"Imagine a car chase down Trollstigen and base jumping, in typical Bond style", says Borch.

Ah, it read differently to me with Google Translate. Thanks.

And yet, he has probably given them a few tips.

But if you don’t enjoy Smith’s performance it’s hard to enjoy the instrumentation.

The instrumentation sounds like a pastiche, it's like a blatant Bond like sound with none of the class. The vocal performance is totally inappropriate for Bond.

Also, the subject is not very strong in the film, it certainly isn't We Have All The Time In The World for feck’s sake!

Maybe if the love story element didn't feel so false it might have worked.

I do hope Bond 25 has a balls out theme with some grit, Arctic Monkeys please.

I actually think it's a decent song but it definitely doesn't resonate with whats on the screen.

Much better than Garbage, Madge and Sheryl IMO.

Smith's song? I cannot stand his voice, ruins it. I enjoy it only as instrumental, woven into the film a bit. During PTS I could tolerate it because of the orchestra and what I was watching on the screen; that's it. With a different singer, it would have been fine for a Bond film, even lovely.

I am so thrilled about Norway. :)

Why are we discussing the song from the previous entry on this thread? I forgot why. Anyone?

Anyways, what are the chances that the drone footage made by Fukunaga was training of some sort?

Totally agree with this sentiment, but not sure Arctic Monkeys are really ‘balls out’ or have a powerful vocal for a Bond Theme. Bruce Dickinson would be great and he makes two Bond references within the first 100 pages of his book, likely a fan. Otherwise I’d love Muse or as an (maybe) out there suggestion Inglorious...

Maybe the Castle of Death will be located in Norway instead of Japan? (Yes I’m fairly convinced the unused YOLT literary plot will be utilised!)

I’m in NYC for the weekend & there are pictures of Daniel out and about shopping in the city from today. Wishfully thinking I’ll run in to him on the street. Lol

Bruce Dickinson and Iron Maiden have about as much chance as I have of doing the next Bond theme and you know it.

The Arctic's are far more likely than that although it's likely to be Ed Sheeran if they want another hit and possible academy award.

I certainly hope it's not ES but after Smith's appointment I wonder.

I could see Bond eating a hot dog if he's undercover in New York or some similar place.

Can't agree with that at all except for maybe M's DAD which still kind of worked within the context of what was being shown compared to WOTW's pretentious bs.

But it does set him up nicely for Bond 26, scheduling wise. ;)

The fact Bond is headed to Norway suggest that the team at EON did go and see MI6, and decide to use that film as a basis for inspiration, much like they did with TDK in Skyfall. At least we know they aren't running away from the challenge, but still its hard to see how they could use a location better than McQ and Cruise did. And they are inviting comparisons somewhat.

Of course he isn’t. Bond 26 will be the one directed by him.

There is no comparison here because fallout only shot a single scene which lasted a few minutes for cliff fight , bond does Way more than that using location for a whole lot of sequence especially after they are getting so much incentive.

The song is rather good, but as soon as he starts singing, (he starts with a groan/whine), it doesn't work as a Bond theme.
He sounds like he's lost the power cable to his X box.

Bruce Dickinson - why has he never done a Bond song. That would have been awesome in the 80s. He could have replaced Madge on DAD and done the fencing scene bit but for real...

"Not aware" just won't cut it, when the stuff has been (reasonably) public knowledge for over 20 years - multiple accusers, articles, a documentary film years ago... I kinda expect Hugh Jackman etc. will say they had absolutely no idea either. Somehow people who work with and hung out with the guy are "not aware" when people who don't even personally know anyone who works in the industry do. Rrright.
No this is never OT, because in fact most of what is deemed common Knowledge About People in the film Business is based on media outlets. For all we know, it could very well turn out that anyone involved in any film production has criminal tendencies. Don´t get me wrong, I´m not saying Singer´s innocent, or that everyone else is guilty. But who knows, perhaps actors would get crazy and paranoid if they read what the media write About certain directors or Producers, or they wouldn´t know anymore who to work for at all. Perhaps actors prefer to ask around personally how this or that director is to work with, and then, as Long as you´re not a teenage Boy anymore, you might not hear much About Singer chasing boys. And even though I didn´t see BoRap, I find it obvious that Malek spent a lot of time and Energy preparing for his role, so if he really was on board before Singer was attached, I´m not sure I would blame him for going through with it. As for what he´s going to say now, after the release of the film, I´m sure most actors are screwed between a rock and a hard place, because the whole Business is based on diplomacy.

Diane Lane would’ve been a ripping Bond girl in her pomp, circa 1984-85. Imagine her in place of Tanya Roberts in AVTAK.
No other actress would have squealed, "James!" as effectively as Tanya Roberts.

Agreed. The best stuff Mendes did in his two films.
