Eva Green as Vesper is perfect as she is. Wouldn’t change a thing about her. She’s indeed the best Bond Girl ever.
It was criminal to use Berenice Marlohe in that small capacity of screen time. Severine was terrific. She could’ve been the Xenia Onatopp/Pussy Galore of the Craig era, with all those hints of having a lethal background and the Beretta 70 strapped to her thigh, etc. She was robbed of reaching her potential.
Lea Seydoux was miscast. Compare her Mission: Impossible equivalent to that of Spectre’s, you’ll find that she was far more colourful in the former than the latter. It wasn’t her fault Madeleine was awfully bland. It’s just that the role was badly written.
Not using Severine's deleted scenes was the biggest wasted opportunity since not using Elliot Carver's backstory deleted scenes in Tomorrow Never Dies. It would have helped give us better characters.
thats a big demand for eons standards now of days lol
What about "Bond XXV"?
Good breakdown. Hopefully one of the many writers of B25 will recognize and improve Swann's character so Lea can be more compelling.
like how they do the super bowl =))
Indeed!
what should be the halftime show? @Torgeirtrap =))
I really like that, that’s what I’m calling it now.
Exactly this. She's a great actress in all, but I feel a lot more attracted to Sabine Moreau than to Madeleine Swann. And once again, her character began well in the script. In the leaked drafts I could feel there was a reason why Bond would fall for her and vice-versa. In the finished script, the M and C cutscenes waste a lot of time that is subtracted to a good development of the Bond-Madeleine relationship.
Anybody else noticed this? I made a short video just for fun. Could it deliberately be Fleming?
Difficult one! Something featuring/made by Danny Boyle, similar to the London Olympics bit? Then everybody will be happy ;-)
It's the same, but different!
@Torgeirtrap @JamesBondKenya =))
Thank you, I find it hard to look at the Bond 25 logo without seeing Fleming's presence!
Well, he's (apparently) on Twitter and said Jaws is his favourite villain:
Naturally, this means nothing and I don't trust IMDB that much, but... may be of interest dropping this over here, just in case. ;)
Any sad sack trying to self promote can write on IMDb. Henchman is a classic example - as if casting a henchman (with no character name obviously! ) is going to be officially announced on IMDb - and ahead of all other main casting - crazy.
Casting directors cast background characters or featured extras (rarely credited unless the role has some significance) from the local acting community, either at or near the location (say Italy or Norway) or studio based (Pinewood etc.).
It reminds me of Churchill for some reason
Quite. I've said before that you could cut out the entire C subplot and the film really doesn't lose much. But with that time and energy freed up, you could invest far more in fleshing out some of the key characters and relationships. Why fear Hinx? What kind of power does Spectre have? Do Bond and Madeline care about each other? What's the connection between White and Blofeld? Etc etc.
One hopes that with B25 they can avoid falling into the trap of overstuffing the film. I think it's tricky to avoid when you have a lot of budget and very talented cast. It takes discipline, for instance, to tell Fiennes that he only gets a few minutes of screen time!

Fleming was definitely fond of Churchill...
