20 mimutes longer then QOS can work. 126 - 136 mimutes.
From footage seen so far, the pacing should be same as QOS, but atleast 10 - 20 mimutes longer and then another 10 for the view. If need there can at to long for view footage as delete extented scene's on the BD release first disc and in photos in video photo gallery with optional commentary on the bonus disc.

From Spectre i like to see more footage and difrent angels from Mexico City and storyboards and photogallery.

Pacing will always be more important than runtime. Always.

Haven't been here in awhile. Hows everything going? How is the 007 stage doing after that explosion?

Local brands extend ‘yaad’ hospitality to James bond cast and crew

In true Jamaican fashion, local brands JP St. Mary’s, Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cakes and Jablum, came together to extend a heartfelt thank you to the James Bond franchise for choosing to include Jamaica in the production of Bond 25.

The international cast and crew were presented with the packages before the last day of filming, Friday, June 7, 2019.

Definitely don't want a film much more than 2:10 - 2:15. I prefer it when the story can be told in a couple of hours, give or take a few minutes.

Really hoping Cary takes the same view. Generally speaking anything over that is too long for a Bond film.

The running length will be however is necessary. Not something to stress over.

It's a rare Bond film that couldn't be trimmed by 10 minutes, yes, even OHMSS. The exceptions are probably GF and QoS, the two shortest.

I suppose I'm surprised that filming kept going on in Jamaica that long. I thought they'd all moved on. Interesting. . .

Never knew GF was one of the shortest. And arguably still the best.

Perhaps we're reading it wrong and the media are simply hinting at the actual film title: "James Bond and the Cursed Production" :')

As for runtime... If it is Craig's last and they've been so keen to polish the script I'm going to take a punt on a max of 2 hours 30, similar to CR. I think the days of the standard two hour bond film are, sadly or not, a thing of the past.

They went from nearly 2,5 hours in 2006 to 1,5 hours in 2008. I guess they'll just do what they deem interesting. ;-)

Very fair point! Though I always presumed that was largely down to the combined issue regarding the writers strike, short gap between movies and the directors general choice of a more, shall we say, choppier approach. I like QoS, but I believe there is a longer, or at least more padded out, version of it left on the cutting room floor somewhere that would have pleased the wider audience also.

I’ve pondered whether the variation in the length of bond movies is because they’ve moved away from being simply another film every other year in the franchise, to each one being treated as more of a wider cultural “event” release. Therefore the tried and tested roughly two hours length, alongside many of the other tried and tested things in the Bond formula, isn’t the go to these days. They push the envelope around a bit and don’t constrain themselves to what once was... which I guess is good. I’d much rather a more concise film where needs be, or a lengthier feature if story commands it. But I do feel with this being 25, with it (likely) being Craig’s finale, that they’ll go for a longer run time. Now watch me be proved wrong :’)

Indeed. The longer films usually don't have the same rewatchability factor for me either. OHMSS the only exception.

What's reallky interesting in the press release for Newman back in 2012 - is that it includes a quote from David Arnold revealing his reasons for not returning. That is a very unusual move. Add to that the fact that Eon didn't let Newman use his own orchestration of the Bond theme - preferring Arnold's version from CR.

Wow, that's news for me. I always thought, Newman did not want to use the Bond theme plus the theme song, but that they kin+da forced him to do so.

I don't think it was that sample. Arnold has explicitly said in interviews that Newman was Mendes' choice as he's his regular composer, and I believe Mendes himself has confirmed as much.

RE: the filmmakers using Arnold's orchestration of the Bond theme at the end of the film, that's not a surprise either. Newman's rendition in "Breadcrumbs" on the OST is wonderful and classic, but it doesn't quite have the muscle that final scene demanded. A recycling of Breadcrumbs there would have limped the ending of the film a bit.

As far as Newman not wanting to use the Bond theme -- not sure what's meant by that, since he's said the opposite publicly as well. It's a critical ingredient he had no intention of shying away from. And frankly it's all over the Skyfall score in forms and variants that range from explicit to more subtle. Certainly doesn't seem like a piece he was shying away from.

Not including instrumental treatments of Skyfall beyond the casino reprise, however -- that's another story. ;)

Looks like Craig suffered something pretty bad.
  • edited June 2019 Posts: 1,661
Based on the photos of Craig's injury, it looks more serious than some might have thought.

That seems quite a bad injury. It's not just a bandage round the foot kind of thing. There could be a longer delay than previously mentioned? Bond 25 - winter 2020, perhaps. April release is a bit of a risk in terms of actual box office prediction. Oct/Nov is a safer bet in terms of known box office. I don't think it would be the end of the world if we had a winter release.

His left foot is raised above the ground meaning he can't put any pressure on it. That seems quite a bad injury. There could be a longer delay than previously mentioned?

Or he is just naturally rasing it as he walks.

Ah, thanks for clearing this up. Still would be interesting to listen to his version of the Bond theme.

Indeed it would. He never really produced a full rendition -- Breadcrumbs is the closest thing we'll have.
