    I'm still getting reacquainted with the forums... Don't worry, I'll be all over it all soon. Planning on a Bondathon - and when I mentioned it to Daniel he asked if he could do it with me. hahahaha... He just finished watching Austin Powers and said it was the best Bond he'd seen in a long time. :P

    Q was written out of LALD due to Llewelyn's simultaneous appearance in the popular British television series Follyfoot, despite his character also having been written out of three episodes enabling him to appear in the film. However, the Bond producers ultimately decided to leave the character out of the film anyway, much to Llewelyn's annoyance. It's clear that when Connery declined to return after DAF, various scenes were rewritten for LALD, which included jettisoning Dr. No's Honeychile Rider in favour of Quarrel Jr. The thinking was to give as much distance between Connery's association with his character and Moore's own take. It's only by good fortune that Bernard Lee managed to return from an illness and not be replaced by Kenneth More as M, otherwise Kenneth More would've taken over from that point on. Not a terrible choice, but Kenneth More lacked the gruffness IMHO.

    As many commentators have pointed out, Lazenby had the monumental task of being the guy that replaced Connery at the peek of the series. Everything was done (or considered) to let the public know that it was the same James Bond, despite it being a different actor. By the time Moore took on the role, the public were already attuned to it not always being Connery in the role, since OHMSS had already proven to be hugely successful at the BO four years before.

    Kenneth More would have made a good M I have no doubt.

    Compared to some of the other Ms we got, I do believe More would've been an interesting replacement, but of a very different nature. His delivery would not have lent itself to the same sternness as Lee. Sadly, More himself departed this earth in '82, so after FYEO the producers would've had to find another replacement come OP.

    Just recently bought on blu-ray The Man From Hong Kong, a mid 70s Ozplotation actioner with Mr Lazenby as the bad guy. Been wanting to see this since it was first released (big Bruce Lee fan) and Stoner which was the film he had signed on to do with Bruce Lee before his untimely death. TMFHK is an okay film with Jimmy Wang Yu in the lead, and I have to say quite enjoyed it, and the blu-Ray is stuffed full of extras.

    Ah damn, that's too much of a short notice... i would have loved to attend that OHMSS screening with George.

    I live in Vienna, i could be there in 3 hours if i want to.
    But money and holidays will be the bigger issue as this is on a thursday.

    Damn, if i had known about this a couple month ago, i would have definitly attended.

    Problem is i am in Matera the week before and in London two weeks later, all Booked. Squeezing another holiday in between is tricky.
    I will have to do some calculating tomorrow ;)

    He was to be in Game of Death.....theres no way Lee would drop the project after filming 1/3 already , Lee had nothing to do with Stoner......that was a script done after Lee died , they prolly abandoned Game until '78 when faux version was released

    I'll be attending the BFI OHMSS screening with George in the audience! He'll be doing a Q&A with David Walliams. I am beyond excited. The AM DBS will also be on display!

    Its on BBC I-player but you will have to look for it under the 'all' section and scroll down until you programmes under the letter 'O'.

    Takes a while but it is there,i have recorded it from there,havent seen it yet,will do over the weekend.

    I saw it, and he looked great for a man of 80, he really did.

    Trouble is he didn't really appreciate this was a half hour magazine programme, so although his stories were fascinating, full of George's usual flare for exaggeration, he did ramble on. You could see the presenters squirming, no doubt with the director yelling in their ears 'Shut him up, we have a documentary about dolphins to squeeze in'.
