  • I would have loved to see what Dan Stevens would have done with the role. He’s an interesting actor with great range, and unlike say Michael Fassbender, I’m really not sure how he would have played Bond.
  • He’s over 6’2’’. A bit of time at the gym and he’ll be very formidable-looking.
  • Again, the game should change that… provided it is a hit.
  • They’ve never killed Bond before. This is new ground.

  • I wouldn’t expect a great Bond film from either of them. I do think they’d bring a level of prestige to the production that would make attracting other big names easier at a time when, having lost Daniel Craig, that could be an issue. One of those n…

  • Okay, maybe I’m going off at a bit of a tangent, but… talking about the franchise as a whole (well, perhaps video games in particular) I think it needs iconic villains, and it is difficult for a villain to hit iconic status when they only show up fo…
  • mtm wrote: » I guess the problem with Blofeld is he’s slightly a renta-baddie. He doesn’t have much of a hook: he’s just evil and does evil things with Spectre. I kind of prefer villains who have a particular idea behind them- like Carver for exam…
  • I’ll weigh in just to add I don’t think Bond should ever torture anybody. It’s become more and more respectable to have the ‘good guys’ getting information through torture (I think there’s a suggestion of MI6 having used it at the beginning of QOS, …

  • When I was listening to a lot of the Fleming novels this summer, one thing that really stood out was that most of the female characters were (imo) superior to their film counterparts. Domino in particular was a stronger and more interesting characte…
  • What makes the Paloma sequence work is that Paloma is in many ways Bond’s opposite - where Craig’s Bond tends to be grim! Paloma is happy, where Bond is intense and focussed, Paloma appears a little wild and scatterbrained. The ‘only three weeks …
  • I think ‘intense and businesslike’ was what they were aiming for in Dr. No. I can see the similarities in the way he behaves in the first film with how Bond is described to Vesper in the literary Casino Royale - basically all business and kind of br…
  • I remember the book of Casino Royale making a big thing about how detail-oriented he is. It is part of what keeps him alive in his job, and that also accounts for his exacting taste in food and alcohol.
  • bondywondy wrote: » Also, 2027 is long enough time, enough distance away from the Craig era to go full reboot and people won't care that much that Bond is technically dead! Bond 26 in 2027 should feel fresh. The Craig era will be less important be…
  • Ha, now I can’t help think you’re trolling, you must be aware that lots of users here complained about Bond not sleeping with Paloma etc in NTTD. I do think that’s something of a special case for NTTD, though I wouldn’t mind if Bond stuck to only pa…
  • Okay, maybe we’re talking at cross purposes. I’m saying I don’t imagine they’ll prioritise the Gen Z market over others to the extent where they’ll alter Bond’s character, which appears to be the worry for some users here.
  • Is Gen Z the film’s target audience, though? I think they’ll be trying for as big a demographic range as possible. The game, if successful, will up Bond’s profile with the younger generation, and I think diverse casting and a less shallow approach t…
  • If it’s anything like when Daniel Craig was cast, the director absolutely will get a vote in the casting of the new Bond when it gets down to the final few. I don’t know if he will be able to suggest candidates to Eon for consideration, but I’d imag…
  • Yeah, Campbell had done a range of things, both critically acclaimed and more populist fare. I know he clashed with writer Troy Kennedy Martin on the set of Edge of Darkness, refusing to have Bob Peck’s character turn into a tree at the end. I think…

  • I’ll third the Finland location. Sounds good to me.
  • Whatever day they pick to announce the new film/director/actor, that will be the entertainment news story of the day. That will take away from the story about them getting the award if they do it on the same day. I don’t think they’ll do that.
