  • If we are going to talk about GF and TB, what about FRWL? Tania was forced to sleep with Bond, or would have been shot. That is more serious than GF or TB. And what about Bond himself? He was specifically instructed by M to romance and satisfy…
  • Bond is fundamentally about sex and violence. The idea that Bond should not have sex is like saying he should not kill people. The 60s were a special time, where the Pill meant that women could enjoy sex on their terms. In some ways, it’s sad t…
  • Knowing how Bond often follows current cinema trends, I hope Bond26 does NOT follow a recent trend, which seems to be for action scenes / shoot outs to reflect computer games - thinking of the latest John Wick and, to some extent, latest Mission Imp…
  • Well, I Like To Do Some Things The Old-Fashioned Way
  • I like your thoughts, and your list. The only addition is that I would like Bond films to be thrillers more than action films. Actions films can get very boring very quickly, although real (not CGI) stunts are important.

  • Yes, I agree. Bentleys are improving, but there is still a whiff of Premier League Footballer about them. But with Astons going downhill (looking more like something Toyota would make) maybe Bentley will become the better choice.

  • Interesting. Never thought of it in that way.
  • As Connery hated the YOLT direction, having him onboard would definitely kept it as per the book As for Bond and Blofeld recognising each other, didn’t the book say that Blofeld had had plastic surgery? And, of course, Bond had a cunning disguis…

  • Got to agree that Dr No and Dent as the coldest kill, as many of the other nominations come at the end of some form of action or fight, where Bond’s blood would have been up. I would like to give a nod to TND’s Brosnan’s execution of Dr Kaufman

  • I remember an old interview with someone from EON, saying in the 1960s EON had problems with US censors complaining about too much sex, and British censors complaining about too much violence. And they said one of the reasons behind Connery’s quips…

  • Shocking. Thunderball is eminently re-watchable, watching prime Connery in the Caribbean, killling and seducing in classic Bond style And QoS most watchable? Really?
  • This is getting interesting, from a philosophical pov. I’m interested when you say that it’s offensive because it portrays that women as ‘weaker’. Women are physically weaker. So can you explain what you mean? As for violence against men, s…
  • Bond slapping women was using minimum force and designed to shock rather than injure, and far lighter than the violence against men e.g. Dent 1960s Bond slapping a woman’s arse was acceptable in those days, and far more preferable to, for example…
  • No, sorry, but I’m not sold on this. Watching men beating up women is distasteful for me, and not entertaining. And implausible - which is why men don’t box women. And, as we have had male henchmen being gratuitously beaten up and killed for …

  • You are all wrong. Thunderball is the most serious. It is the film where I most believe that Bond is on a mission to save the world from nuclear Armageddon. There is a real sense of urgency, where Bond knows he needs to pull his finger out. Con…
