Nah keep on going until the wheels come off

That seems to be the current approach and the approach of the Moore era before it. The vast sums of money involved no doubt help to sweeten the deal too, for the incumbent Bond actor. Craig will be a tough act to follow so the producers will most likely hold onto him as long as they can.

As far as I can recall Moore only did AVTAK after Cubby pressed him a lot. Moore considered himself too old for the role. I wouldn't be surprised if DC's tenure will end similarly. Broccoli knows Daniel delivers quality, so he's a sort of certainty, something you hardly get in the world of movie making. It's Always better then the gamble of a new name.

I do not know if this has been suggested yet, but I think Dominic Cooper could be an interesting Bond. He surely wasn't a good Ian Fleming, but I found him quite close to Fleming's portray of the character in the novels.

I think Cooper is already 40yish so prob too old

With the long delay on Bond 25? No way I can see DC doing a 6th film. Always believed he would do 5 and that would be it.

I suggested Cooper for the role once. But, after a recently made stupid comment of his, I no longer want to see his kind promoting the role or the franchise in any way. He should just stick to getting his arse kicked by Johnny English.

Oh yes. I read that too. What an idiot.

Isn't Dominic West the one got his ass kicked by Johnny English? Was it him or Cooper who made the stupid comment?

I have no idea why did I think of Dominic West when I was reading that. It was West who made outrageous claims. Not Cooper.

Cooper is a decent fellow. Mistaken identity.

The hive mind took over and I saw Cooper as well.

Yes, it's West. The guy from The Affair. Google who he thinks should play James Bond.

Cooper would make a terrific Phillip Calvert, however. Alistair MacLean's hero from When Eight Bells Toll.

    I just Googled it.

Well, I imagine West is an okay fellow and I know he is a good actor, but that suggestion is literally ridiculous to the power of two. It can't be spoofed or ridiculed, it already is its own parody.

He was just joking around. Given some of the appropriation suggestions that have been bandied about over the last few years, I'm actually surprised that this one hasn't come up yet. It's blatantly nonsensical, but then again so are some of the other suggestions. Having said that, the actor he suggested identifies as a woman. If the actor in question identified as a male, then it would raise interesting questions I would imagine.

When I saw it, it struck me as he was joking, look how DC gets taken out of context by the media.

Anyway Dominic West gets a free pass from me, he's Jimmy McNulty for fecks sake.

Oh I don’t think he was seriously saying this, but more to push a political agenda, using Bond as the bait- which is getting tiresome. Bond stays out of the political realm in the films but he’s dragged back in every year (Idris can be Bond, Gillian Andersen can be Bond, trans-actors can be Bond).
I say you can be anything you want. Except Bond.

I think he was just joking as he referred to his costar in his latest movie. Nothing to do with politics, just having some fun.

    Clickbait.
They're not going to cast a new James Bond anytime before mid 2020, and probably not before 2021. And that's only going to happen after Daniel Craig has officially retired from the role.
The above article is nothing more than promotion for the 'Hugely successful BBC series.'

There´s never been a better time to sell an old Bond. I have no Trouble picturing an older Craigbond not running through explosions, but keeping his martini dry and then step out of the slowly settling dust and get on with his work. But it has to be the humour of CR and QoS, not the attempts of SF and SP.

It’s tough for any actor touted for the role. Microphones will be pushed in their faces and some nonentity will ask ‘Would you like to be the next Bond?’ The obvious answer is yes, but they can’t say that because it’s fast track to being struck off the list.

This sort of thing won't stop. It will continue to be relentless. I'm actually curious to find out who will be 2019's Madden. We should know soon enough.

Having said that, it's interesting that a producer on the show allegedly mentioned Bond, unprompted. It's not like Bodyguard needs any more publicity because season 2 is hotly anticipated.

If true, the producer’s mention of Bond is what made this story stand out from the many others.
Possibly this person was just stirring the pot.

Just read an article regarding Richard Maddens to be honest I have not watched The Bodyguard personally he does not look the part for me, though admittedly neither did Craig initially.

I really hope the next guy is taller than Madden's 1,77m. Have only seen clips from The Bodyguard, and his height (or lack of) was the first thing I noticed.

That was my first response on reading this click-bait article in the DM. The source for Katie Hind's piece is nonexistent. She doesn't even try to bluff the reader with: "It is understood that Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has been in touch with Madden – and he even went as far as to do a shoot dressed as the suave hero for glossy magazine, GQ." That's it!! The two are completely separate but have somehow been merged together to make one incomprehensible sentence. Firstly, the shoot Katie Hind is talking about does appear to feature an Aston Martin in the background in the latest edition of GQ, but so what? It's "understood", Katie, that Barbara hasn't been in touch with Madden, and won't be thinking about casting the next Bond until after Craig has officially retired from the role. Also, the two productions won't clash, unless The Bodyguard producers are thinking of waiting another 5 years to bring out its sequel.

This DM feature is actually a promotion for the latest issue of GQ disguised as showbiz news.

I loved Danny Devito for coming out as an Arsenal fan.

On the other hand Richard Madden admits that he knows absolutely nothing about football and bowed to Arsenal supporter Idris Elba's footie predictions back in April '16. The link is below if you need reminding...

Madden looks nothing like Bond, let alone zero charisma. Next.
