Yes, Corky Romano, that's the one. I couldn't remember the title. Probably not his best work. I remember he was in his rather grouchy persona in that one. He was good as the preacher who goes mad in The Lost World. That's a good point about Matthew Rhys. I like that last episode of Columbo. The first killing in that one reminds me of Season 1's Death Lends a Hand somewhat and it's my favourite Columbo episode. I have seen snippets of Peter Falk's films on YouTube but I'd really like to see both The In-Laws and Husbands in particular. I'vev also heard that A Woman Under the Influence and Mikey and Nicky are good too. Will have to get them ordered up soon. It's high time I explored some of Peter Falk's other work outside of Columbo.
Did you do this in the end? Because unfortunately the video's been taken down now and I've searched everywhere for a copy to watch to no avail.
No, sadly I didn't. I noticed that the video was taken down very shortly after this. I did get to watch it once before it was taken down (presumably due to copyright issues) but that was it. Perhaps @mattjoes has a copy downloaded that he could share with you? I wouldn't mind having a copy of it myself so I could watch it again.
I don't suppose you still have this video?
Ok, cheers.
Sorry I don't have a copy of the episode itself but it seemed to only be up a very short time until it was taken down again, presumably on copyright infringement grounds. I've heard that you can book in to see the episode at a Film and TV museum somewhere in the United States but @mattjoes might be able to help you get a copy instead.
I do. Check your private messages.
Thanks!!!!
Could you send me a copy too, possibly, @mattjoes? Would love to see it again.
Check your PMs!
Thank you so much, old buddy. I really appreciate it. Thank goodness you had the foresight to save it! :)
You know I've had a DVD copy of Murder by Death for a few years now but I've still not gotten around to watching it yet. I'll have to make a point of doing that and of watching The Cheap Detective too. I don't think I can get that channel but I'll try to pick it up on DVD some time.
TalkingPicturesTV is channel 82 on Freeview where I am in the North of England.
It has been a long time since I saw The Cheap Detective, very much looking forward to viewing it again.
Murder By Death I watched countless times in my youth, the movie has a great cast, Guinness, Sellers, Falk to name a few. Murder By Death is a fun parody of super sleuth's.
Ah, I see. I have Freeview so I should be able to get that. I'll try to tune in for it! :)
I think so, but hopefully it'll be available across the different regions. Has Region A replaced Region 1? I've seen it mentioned here once before but I'm afraid I don't really keep up with these tech things.
I know that there was a Japanese full Blu-ray set of Columbo released a few years ago but it was prohibitively expensive. These new sets sound better anyway as there's extras. The Columbo DVD sets and the first two seasons released on Blu-ray are very bare bones when it comes to extras so this is very welcome news.

For DVDs :
For Blu-Rays :
Had a look at the Japanese release too, years ago – but as you mention, it was very expensive. Extras aren't that important to me, but I'd love to watch Columbo in the best picture quality possible.
Yes, as good as extras are after the relative dearth of extras on the releases up to now the main draw will be seeing all of the Columbo episodes in superior picture quality for the first time. Hopefully these two new Blu-ray boxsets will be more affordable than the Japanese boxset was some years ago!
Fingers crossed! Can't wait to see how the two box sets look like as well. The cigar box set was a nice touch for the DVD release.
Yes, me too. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with. I agree that the cigar box was a lovely and iconic touch for the DVD boxset. I have pretty much all the releases on DVD, including individual seasons, as I bought them as they came out from 2005 onwards. I also have the first two seasons on Blu-ray as that is all that has been released in Region A prior to this.
More from columbophile on the news:

I bought a couple of single season releases too, before jumping on what was a cheaper route to get them all, with the cigar box set. The two single season releases are essentially the very same as the corresponding seasons in the box set.
No doubt The Columbophile will keep us updated about the release!
I have four Bluray players at least 2 of them are multi region players if that becomes an issue.
