For all it's criticisms of plot holes, it holds together and has got a killer climatic sequence, whereas SPECTRE is an utter mess of a film and has a climax devoid of tension or thrill.
Skyfall despite it's detractors will not be forgotten or it's stature decrease, in fact the thing that SPECTRE was such a disappointment will play to SF strengths.
SPECTRE will be the film that won't age well, whereas despite some fan boys opinions Skyfall will be one of the series most regarded films, it's new Goldfinger in that respect and it's the general public that will dictate that not a bunch of smart arses on this forum.
Wait, what? You don't like SP @Shardlake? It's been hard to tell lately; I mean, it's not like you go into every thread on the forums (Bond related or not) spouting hatred for it or anything. Oh wait, you do, don't you? Funny, that. 8-|
I guess my question now would be, do you have anything of substance to add beyond your childish moaning? You're like a baby after the teat, so wound up and in a tizzy at all hours. If you're worried that none of us know your opinions or have forgotten them, don't; we've heard them without end since SP began. The sad thing is that while you're wallowing in your overstated misery out there, the rest of us (smart arses" as you call us) are having a grand time being positive and happy. At the end of the day, you're just a hungry dog scratching at the door, and guess what? You can't come in.
Anyway, even though I don't agree on both sides, I like SP and think Craig and Léa have great chemistry, but still think SP misses the beat with the Oberhauser background, there's a lot to say for both. And, well sustained, any side counts.
However, this thread was once just fun mockery of all the Bond films, and it seems it's too early to pro.. eh... to do that with Spectre, as people don't seem to understand the essence of this thread (including the numbering of 'lessons learned') and go way too serious into the matter.
58. Tanner is not very good friends with 007
59. C has no idea what democracy is
60. Blofeld likes meteroites
61. Blofeld has a nickname for his little brother 007
62. Everyone has forgotten a film called Goldeneye and a film called Skyfall as both really play up the brother angle as well just not as overtly as Spectre
63. Bond and Swann have a train pretty much to themselves
64. Mr. White still has the best lines of the film
65. Quantum changed its name to Spectre
66. Mr. White has a nickname
67. Mr White had a wife and daughter
68. Mr White let a womanizing man protect his hot daughter because they wont sleep together
69. Mr white is very dumb when choosing who to protect his daughter

83. being in Monica Bellucci's arms is a good way to die
86. Somehow, killing a terrorist is wrong to the woman you've fallen in love with.
87. Depending on how long after Skyfall this is, M took over MI6 just in time to be cut loose anyway.
88. Q had quite a bit of time on his hands if he could secretly help Bond and rebuild the DB5.
89. One of the most important things to MI6, even above arming the vehicle's weapons systems, is syncing an agent's MP3s.
My opinion is nothing compared to likes of Getafix who can't help but slag off Skyfall and has done for the last 3 years and constantly pops up in threads to repeat the same old argument like a broken record.
I assure you I'l get over it soon enough but sorry some of us saw through the dodgy plot, terrible back story and the 2 lamest set pieces of the Craig era, I slightly prefer it it to QOS but the climax to that film was 10 times better than the underwhelming desert sequence and the disappointing MI6 set piece.
Like Birdleson said when you remove the homages and that terrific PTS from it, it not like there is much there. It's pretty cold and empty lacking any danger or thrill. It's a pity because the Mr White scene is great and also the L'American scene and the train fight apart from Hinx's only bit of dialogue seems totally out of character.
It also seems that the Skyfall detractors like it just because it's got the homages and Craig is playing confident Bond, it's a pity a terrific Craig performance is shackled to such an underwhelming product.
@Shardlake, see, THIS is what I've wanted to see from you for a helluva time now. I hear so many people going on about how SP is bad without giving any kind of fleshed out arguments. Here, you did just that.
Like I've said before, whether it's you, @Birdleson or @Getafix, I don't care what your views are, love or hate. What upsets me is when people feel underwhelmed by something and almost make it their unconscious mission to ruin the fun for everyone else by stating the same negative declarations over and over again (I hate this, this is the worst Bond film yet) in every thread without giving any reasons for why they actually feel that way.
What you've done here by supplying your reasons for how it is underwhelming for you can actually create a discourse, and not a flame war. My hat is off to you sir, and I'm sorry for any animosity you may have felt thrown in your direction.
No offense taken, Merry Christmas.
list of things I learned from that we could do (avoiding the film based one like from Russia with love or quantum)

2. Diamonds Aren't Forever (with Lazenby as JB in Alfred Hitcock presents)
3. The Death Collector (based on the leaks the way bond 24 could of turned out)
4. Risico (the lost bond 22 based on recent interview with vesper having a secret kid etc)
5. James bond Jr (we could do the series or just a few episodes)

1. Colonel Sun
2. Licence Renewed
3. For Special Services
4. Icebreaker

which could keep the game going pretty much for the rest of the year and perhaps even into next year we also have the 4 part mini series Fleming the man who would be bond from I believe 2013 and I am sure I can find other thing we could do but again all of this is up to the creator of the game.
We shall see. But he did give me Bond 17 (the lost Dalton film) as a bday preasdent I believe or maybe wedding anyways perhaps our host will be so gracious as to take head of at least a few of my ideas presented as there is still so much to learn from 007 (again Eurodisney as the climax what were you just hoping for a free family holiday if you put it in your book John Gardner?)
Things I learned from Casino Royale 1954
1. Gambling is dangerous

That is about it I have like 20 more but I figure I will wait.
Admiral Hargreaves from TSWLM later becomes M in OP (1983). George Baker makes a second appearance in TSWLM but as a Captain only to be told that the microfilm is classified. Surely if he has seen it, then it is no longer classified?
TSWLM was George Baker's third Bond film - he appears in YOLT as a NASA engineer, OHMSS as Sir Hilary Bray and TSWLM as Captain Benson.
was classified ?
How so? The six or seven operations they name off at the Rome meeting would still be in effect even after Blofeld's fall from grace, and their biggest plan, Nine Eyes, was just seconds away from being a success.
The only reason things came to failure was because Blofeld took things personal and alerted Bond to his work. With another person running SPECTRE who could tame their rage, who knows the destruction they could cause and profit they could net from a vulnerable and unknowing world.
