Went on the online shop to check out the shirts. Outside of that great JAWS shirt, it's pretty disappointing. I do hope whoever gets the franchise will do some more merchandising. It's a real untapped market. Because what they have is pretty meh

As for Bond 25, as long as we get some director and distributor info by the end of the year, I'll be happy. We're two years out and know the script is being worked on. No rush. I hope DV gets it as I'm a huge fan but if not now, then I would be more than ok with him launching a new actor for Bond 26 (him or Nolan)

Having seen both "'71" and most of Villeneuve's filmography (including "BR 2049") I'm inclined to say that I'd prefer Demange for B25. Villeneuve is a great visual master but I feel that with him we'd get more of the Mendes style: this kind of pristine but overly rigid and sluggishly edited compositions that look stunning but are best fitted to a period drama, rather than an action movie- even one that wants to take itself seriously.

My ideal example of Bond taking itself seriously (not that it has to, but since the Craig era demands so) is Casino Royale. Campbell for me is the ideal Bond director 'cause he knows how to balance character, plot and filmic energy- the latter of which I felt was missing from both SF ans SP. Since we 've got a specific name list to speculate on, I feel Demange has got what it takes to bring back the nerve and energy needed, plus a more naturalistic visual style that would be very welcome by me.

Prisoners and Sicario are not sluggish or pristine. DV brings what is needed to the piece. What his take for Bond would be people speculate because he can have that visual, stark thing going and his art house side, coupled with what people perceive as Craig's preference. I watched a Collider interview with DV and discovered Sicario cost 30 million. That's impressive. In Prisoners, he said he cut one of the most beautiful scenes he and Deakins ever created because it didn't work with the story. He added he's savage with editing his own work regardless of how good a scene is by itself.

Now I wouldn't mind at all if Demange got it because '71 is great and I agree he would bring a new kind of energy. I would worry a little about his ability to bring a whole movie of Bond scope, but there's enough team experience to support I imagine. Either way, I don't think anyone should be upset, they're both very good and DV is on his way to greatness, if not already there. You never know, he may believe CR is Craig's best, FRWL may be his favorite, and he's very good at replicating and invigorating old style, so a big, colorful suspenseful movie may be what he delivers. I sincerely doubt he would make SF 2. He's too good to just continue in Mendes vein and would want to bring his own take, otherwise what would be his point in doing it.

Sorry if it's already been appeared on here, but this thread is one thread that I'm not even going to attempt to backtrack.

Yes I mentioned Martin Robinsongate earlier.

Dear DoctorNo I think "prisoners" is one of the best thrillers ever, but "sicario" as goog as it is, it's a drama not an action film. Its two promising scenes (border and tunnel) build up tension masterfully but are underwhelming in action delivery. If DV gets the job I ll be happy but sceptical until I see the film, that's all.

Journalists are an utter joke these days, they probably copy and pasted it from another site not even bothering to check it for the errors.

The article starts out calling him by his correct name then all of a sudden Robinson gets said and you think... well.

While we're on the subject, am I the only one who'd like to see Charles Robinson return to the series? Although he was strictly a Brosnan-era ally, he was mates with Bond, much like Tanner or Felix. Would be cool to see them working together again.

I would prefer him to the boring Rory Kinnear Tanner for sure,Q....

Kinnear's a superb actor, but I agree, he's not given much to do. He needs some lines to work with like Michael Kitchen had in GE.

Exactly..when you see how animated and confident he is as an actor in other productions its a total waste the way they use him as Tanner.

I agree on CR being the best of the era (as I'm sure most do). One has to keep in mind that this is probably the film which Craig had the least involvement in. I'm not sure if he brought in Forster, but he certainly worked very closely with him on QoS to shape the story, and we all know the tight working relationship with Mendes that precedes Bond.

I have not seen 71 but I understand your point about Villeneuve. As I've said previously, I think he's quite versatile (based on what I've seen), and so if he gets the job will be able to steer the ship in any number of directions depending on what the producer/co-producer want. I think your concerns are valid, but perhaps misplaced. Any concerns should probably be directed at the top.

Never got the opportunity to get on here yesterday as it was such a mad all round from dawn til dusk. Belated Happy James Bond day!! Disappointed as I am sure many were that we got nothing new officially from Eon. Never mind.

Fair point on V's versatility. let's hope the way he 'adjusted' to the world of Blade Runner makes sure he will do the same with the world of Bond if he's the one to do it.

Speaking of Tanner, Rory Kinear will be on Graham Norton's radio show on Saturday from 10AM on BBC Radio 2. Maybe Graham will ask him if he's doing Bond 25.

I thought EON and MGM hired Wizard of Ice to write and direct and star in a tanner spin off film to get the Saw horror fan community dollars.

They're doing both. It's up to the viewer to decide which one is canon.

To sum things up, there has been location scouting in western Norway, but it's unlikely to happen due to an incentive application deadline.
