    That's what I'm thinking. Nolan doesn't seem the type to come in and deal with closing out the era, especially given how Mendes boxed Bond into a corner with that SP ending. I do feel bad for whoever is responsible for helming B25 and crafting a good story out of that (unless they take the easy routes and ignore everything from SP and make it standalone. A man can dream, but I don't see it happening).

    Don't rule it out. Yes, it's not likely to happen, but there's still a reasonable chance of that.

    BB has stated she wants a director by early 2018, and if that previous post is true regarding production (not principal photography) beginning in March, we'll have something in the next two or three months.

    They've been in the midst of searching for a director for a while now. There's no way they haven't begun something like this with so many rumors out in the last few months, on top of them wanting a director in less than a month's time.

    If Nolan does both Bond 25 and 26, they probably told him he can kill Daniel Craig's James Bond on-screen, something Craig would probably be into as a dramatic actor and a fitting end to his ridiculously clickbaity time as James Bond, and then offered to let Nolan come back for 26 and start over from scratch.

    The biggest reason why I think Nolan may be a good choice for the next one is because he is clever, and I think he is capable of continuing from SP in an original way and keeping things interesting. I also don’t think it’s off the table that they just ignore SP for the most part and do their own thing for the next movie. Wasn’t the script being worked on before Craig agreed to be Bond again? If so, could mean standalone.

    That was my line of thinking for a while, as well. The script for Craig's last - I would assume, anyway - would look entirely different from the script of someone's first installment.

    Of course thre’s no way for me to validate this but I think the particulars of Bond 25, including script and director, are much further along than anyone outside of EON knows; the signing of Craig points to this. I don’t think he would have committed based on a promise of quality.

    Because of the leak(s) debacle of SPECTRE, the cards are being played much closer to the vest.

    The reshoots definitely won't have any major effect on the film or its release.

    Personally, I'm not a huge fan of big set-piece action sequences that go on too long. I wish Bond would go back to something like FRWL, or OHMSS, that had a few action sequences it was mostly story driven with lots of excitement and suspense.

    That's why for me both SF and SP's openings seem stale compared to CR.

    Four years is way too much - 3 years should be the max, ideal is 2 years imho.

    I like Nolan‘s Dark Knight trilogy alot so I am sure he could create a good Bond movie ... but after #blofeldgate please no more nonsense like killing off Bond. I do have confidence Noland could end the Craig era properly after bringing his very own interpretation of the character to the silver screen. Noland is #2 on my list ... number one is preparing Dune right now unfortunately.

    I'm a big fan of SF but I have to agree. CR and QoS felt a little bit smaller I think, and I'd rather Craig went back to something like that for his last (or something like FRWL or OHMSS like you said).

    Killing Bond just wouldn't be right. Faking his death, maybe, but even then it's been done to death by now. Bond 25 should be more creative than SP (a decent but by-the-numbers Bond film IMO) but also careful in how it shakes things up.

    The whole Solo movie reshoots do not concern me, I mean a studio has to earn it's keep like any other business. Bond is still way off and as we all know? We are still awaiting more pressing announcements at the moment.

    Like Director first and foremost and Distributor?!!!!

    Stunts aren't appreciated like they used to be. The problem is they aren't used inventively anymore, and when that isn't the case it's generally easily to mock it up on a computer now. They need to think of a stunt where the practicality of it informs the storytelling, then it would be worth it to do for real.

    I've never bought into the Mendes/Craig breakup rumours. Maybe he doesn't return because he's done with Bond, but it won't be because he doesn't want to work with Craig and vice versa. His recent experience with the franchise, and the massive box office that he has delivered, still makes him a most serious contender.

    Maybe. I have a hard time thinking he will come up with something exceptional for Bond 25 though, given he had said after Skyfall that he felt he had done everything he wanted to. It shows with Spectre, which really runs out of steam throughout its third act. Would he not be running on fumes should he return for Bond 25?

    Mendes is running on fumes, but they already hired P+W back, they've been running on fumes for a decade at least. And hate to say it but Craig has seen better days. Heaven knows where he will be in terms of motivation and fitness in another years time. Bond 25 is already shaping up to be a holding pattern of a Bond film.

    In my humble opinion, the fiasco of SP rests on a substandard script. If the script is up to scratch and has the sort of dynamic tension which could motivate someone like Mendes or Craig, something very special could result.

    They will have to get Deakins back too. Forget Adele, Smith, Waltz, Seydoux and the rest of those Scooby clowns. Get Deakins, and Mendes and Craig can go out on a high and make everyone happy.

    I would really love to see Deakins back. He's a big part of why I love SF so much. I'd be happy with director news in January; probably won't happen until February or March though.

    Agreed. He should have been a one-off with SF, which put all his energy and best ideas into. Bringing back Mendes almost definitely is a mistake.
