If they can't make the 2019 release date, they should just cancel this film, sell the rights and let Nolan take charge. He will probably make another movie before his Bond film, so Chris Nolan's BOND 25 could be released around 2022.
How much is Christopher Nolan paying you?
    You'll be surprised.

Plot twist: he IS Christopher Nolan!

I just read that Danny Boyle left because Barbara Broccoli wanted Bond to die in B25!!! Killing Bond is utter madness! His survival is fundamental for the series! I wish he stayed so he could fight this and put an end to this idea! Then they are gonna reboot yet again after that? No! Just NO! New Bond actor after this yeah, but I hate the idea that they are gonna turn the Craig era into some saga that starts with Casino Royale and end with his death!... That's not how Bond works.
It's fake news. They were never planning on killing him off nor have any intention of doing so.

As much as I don't want Bond to die, Craig-bond is the only version of the character that I can actually see being killed.

Are you sure? I have always of the assumption that he was a merchant banker.

Nolan would make the most sexless Bond film ever. In fact, it would be the first Bond film in which the Bond girl died before the movie. And Bond spends the whole movie mourning her.

Been noted. Apparently Fox owns the home entertainment distribution rights to Bond (and also the website?), therefore it's probably a redirect due to maintenance.

Craig Bond might be the only version I’d enjoy seeing killed off!

Every day we don't hear anything, we can be less certain about Bond 25 as a project. If there is no news in the next week, I feel thats a bad sign.

That should be the catch phrase for this thread.

The next actor to play Bond will be chosen by none other than Christopher Nolan, and he will probably choose someone he has already worked with and will be under 40 by the time he starts filming his Bond film. Think Jack Lowden.

    How do you know this?

    It's rather odd.

    Curiouser and curiouser.

Following this production is rather like following Alice down the rabbit hole.

The fact EON have produced 2 non Bond films since SP does rather suggest their interest lies elsewhere.

@jake24 To an extent, they are. Still, I think many blow it out of proportion just how connected they are, like they can't be viewed individually whatsoever.
The retconning was done quite poorly and vaguely, so the connections are definitely left up to interpretation for the most part (which is a good thing, I suppose?).
The retcon has certainly impacted my enjoyment of the earlier entries. SF is perhaps the only one I still can enjoy without thinking of the connections, and that's why it's fast becoming my favourite Craig entry, while CR is declining. Each time I watch it I am reminded of SP, primarily due to Mr. White and his 'organization'. Shame really.

@bondjames But surely they used "organization" in CR as they did not yet have the rights to SPECTRE. Ditto for Quantum in QOS. It was already SPECTRE in all but name and the new era was meant to have a recurring menace like the SPECTRE of old.
I agree @Ludovico, but at that point (meaning in 2008, when QoS was released), we only had the prospect of something dangerous and sinister. It had not yet been fully revealed. So the anticipation was there and could be left to the imagination. It is only with SP that we saw the full realization of this 'organization' and its participants (that 'C' and Brofeld), and unfortunately for me, the execution left a terrible taste in the mouth, soiling prior entries to a degree.

So it's not the theorethical concept of SPECTRE or even of an evil organization controlling the strings that is the problem for me - rather it is being reminded directly of the disappointing reality of the last film (rather than some imagined vision as before) and all that I dislike about it.

This Shatterhand title kind of shattered (ha, ha!) my idea that Bond 25 will be a complete standalone, Boyle or no Boyle, Hodge or no Hodge. How much can they ignore the events of the previous movie anyway, even ignoring Blofeld altogether?
I do wonder if MI: Fallout made EON want to connect back to the earlier films in some way (even if it didn't mean Blofeld or Spectre), and this is what ticked off Boyle.

Maybe Boyle wanted that connection. Apparently they were keen on his idea. I often said we'd get more of Mendes with Boyle, so to speak.

Looking over on Instagram, it seems as though Yann Demange finished filming his HBO pilot, Lovecraft Country, yesterday (which is being produced by Jordan Peele and JJ Abrams no less).

Both Demange and Mackenzie have films premiering at TIFF - which is due to start by the middle of next week. The Venice festival starts tonight, so I imagine the film news cycle will continue to roll.

Mackenzie has Outlaw King premiering on the 6 September 2018 and Demange has White Boy Rick premiering on an unlisted date.

Considering Demange is the favourite, are we just waiting for him to get back from filming in the US tonight and sign on?

After all, they are building sets in Namibia...

Patience draws the prize* and it isn't quickened by reheated rumours from ancient recycled headlines, misguided notions of how scripts (plural) are written AND developed and how both rumour and fact on a big movie are always, at best, old news.

(*and no, that isn't a title.)

It would be EoN's best interest to get Demange. He's young, hungry and talented!

I wonder if Yann like John Glenn could stick around for a decade or so

Would increase the amount of Bond films

I didn't really know anything about Demange so just googled him. French mum, Algerian dad, born in Paris and moved to London aged 2. I'm not sure why Wikipedia says he's a French film director - given he's lived in the UK from such a young age and studied film there, he seems fairly British.

I can see why Craig might have hesitated at someone who is still so new to the business. Only 2 feature films and one not released yet.

At this stage I almost don't care. Just want to see the film move ahead with anyone at the helm.

It doesn't even matter anymore who the director of BOND 25 will be. They will hire a yes-man who will execute EON's vision. The only thing that matters is when exactly the director will sign on.
