Having a watch gadget was a tired trope in itself.
Yeah I'm not entirely sure what I mean lol, problem in conversations like this is it always turns into writing a different movie. Basically what I'm thinking is Blofeld's whole motive is controlling identity/soul, so he succeeds in taking over the identity of Bond — only the feeling is so strong it supercedes this act. But again this twists it all into something different!
Similar but different idea on the Bond subreddit. Blofeld doctors the footage of White's death to make it look like Bond killed him. Madeleine has to figure out what's real or fake, which would've given the character more dramatic weight in the film. Way more straightforward and grounded than mine.
2022 - 2023 - celebrating Craig and recuperating after the release of Bond 25
2024 - 2025 - beginning the process of reimagining the character and what the series will look like in the 2020's.
2026 - 2027 - actually producing the first film with a new actor and releasing in cinemas
My guess is this is the schedule EON is working under, and that's why Barbara keeps talking about "the long road ahead", the TV show is probably something to keep amazon happy in the meantime.
A lot of SP’s ideas were good throughout the various scripts. Charlotte King in particular. But my viewpoints are for another thread.
I feel a bit of confidence in Barbara Broccoli saying she was looking back at GE for inspiration. It seems like the right thing to do.
As for continuation novels being adapted, I feel that now would be the time to use Forever and a Day as inspiration. But that’s me, I would also give Anthony Horowitz a chance at writing a screenplay, as he seems to know the character well.
It’s a shame that EON has heavily invested in the surrogate families theme for awhile now. I feel that theme could have worked better with Charmian Bond and possibly May. However, I trust EON to do their own origin story at some point.
As for the rest of your timeline, you are very clearly trolling.
Anyway back to the topic at hand, I liked the found family angle but that was such a big part of the latter Craig era that I would like to go back to the more 'lone wolf' angle of CR and QoS. You get in the classic-era but idk in those two Bond feels particularly isolated.
But I've soured on my option towards Horowitz (again). Forever and a Day is a solid pastiche but it's a pastiche nonetheless. I'm not crying out for it to be adapted, the only thing I'd possibly take from Horowitz is the Nurburgring chapters from Trigger Mortis but even that could be redone with the serial numbers filed off with Bond foiling a scheme at a racetrack. I think someone must've mooted the Monaco GP on here before, I think enough time has passed since Iron Man 2 that I think that could work.
Barbara Broccoli was producing plays after the release of NTTD, and other films. All she did was take a break from Bond, which is the smart thing to do.
Someone mention Tom Hardy as a possible. He seems a bit rough for the role, but love him as an actor and it could be interesting. He may be a bit old already though.
Excited to see who the next bond is and the direction. I also really want a pair of those Danner Tanicus 007 boots. Look awesome.
I agree. GE was kind of an amalgamation of Bond films, hence criticisms of being a “greatest hits” Bond. So it would be odd to use that movie as a source of inspiration as opposed to a genuine article like the early films or even Fleming’s books.
Instead of GE being the inspiration, they could instead look at what inspired that film, as well as take into account everything that had come out since then because the Craig films definitely left a big impression on the cultural lexicon of Bond.
EON doesn't even have to do any thinking. They just have to listen to Chris Nolan's pitch. The chances of his pich being worse than anything they can come up with are very low.
I love the idea of GE being an inspiration. I think the film brilliantly updated the series for the 1990s, yet embraced the classic Bondian formula. After the Craig era tweaking the formula to such a degree, I'd find it refreshing to return in the next era.
Honestly, probably something like Tomorrow Never Dies, which is an immensely entertaining entry IMO.
If Bond 26 is still in the very early development stages ie a script or direction haven’t been decided, then who will direct the eventual film are a long long way off.
At the moment it’s a select group of fanboys wet dream.
Some of us dont!!
Oh I meant the general public loves the film. It's not about us lot here and our feelings.
EDIT: with a proper gunbarrel and a new rendition of the bond theme blaring throughout. [-O<
Funny you should say that mate, one of the original ideas for Spectre's PTS was to set it at the Monaco grand prix, according to the book Being Bond.
For a production the size of Bond that's not insurmountable (I'm sure they'd end up later restaging any parts they can't film at the time) but it's a big project.
She’s not looking at Goldeneye for inspiration; she said she looks back at this time in history when the world said that James Bond wasn’t needed or relevant:
“I go back to GoldenEye when everyone was saying ‘the cold war is over, the wall is over, Bond is dead, no need for Bond, the whole world’s at peace and now there’s no villains’ – and boy was that wrong!” she said…
Yeah, that's true.
Edit: I also can't believe the Arecibo Observatory collapsed. How come none of you people ever talked about this?
